Great video Charlie. SOTA is exciting to say the least. Worked you a few times. Keep up the videos they are very educational for our community. 73, Richard N6PKT -Arizona
Rich - Thank you for the positive words of encouragement. You've worked me a few times? I would say that is an understatement as you are a regular in my log. I feel like I know you well. Thanks for all the chases. Talk to you again soon!
1 - Community => Yes ! I agree, that's mine too 2 - Education, experience => Yes ! sound good 3 - Pile-UP => The most QSO I did while SOTA activity = 245 QSO 4 - Adventure => I love discover new place. 5 - Many thanks for your really nicee video, and if you visit France (F/CR or F/AM) I will be enjoyrd to be your guide. + 73 Roger
Cool activity and cool place! I go to the forest and field from dirty and noisy cities and from people. Pure ether and nature are number one on my list.
Great video my friend! I’m going to use it on my ham radio podcast that helps to teach ham radio and encourage people to join the hobby. I’m doing a special segment on SOTA. This is a fine video. I’ll make sure and link your UA-cam channel in the description. Excellent work here. Thank you for supplying such great work for the ham radio and “hopeful ham radio“ community. Larry de K7HN
Another excellent video Charlie. I have a video with a very similar theme in mind for my channel. I have learned so much since I started portable operating. One of the things that is rarely mentioned is mental health. I have friends that suffer from it quite badly. Personally I feel so much better after a day out in the Mountains. Keep up the good work and all the best. 73 Chris M0RSF
Thank you for doing these videos, they have helped get me motivated to do some myself. You must have read my mind, I was wondering about doing a sota/pota dual activation.
I'm happy the videos are helpful to somebody. Yeah, the dual pota/sota thing isn't all that hard. I think the hardest part is sending the log to the POTA coordinator.
Great minds huh! Others have expressed the same about their top 5. My mast is what you see there on my pack. It's longer than what most use but deal with that. I have a homebrew linked dipole I hoist up the mast.
Wow! Great combo Charlie. while I am not a "full Fledged" sota or Pota chaser. I do check the sites to dole out points / qso opportunities. Did a lot of "hilltopping" long before it became Pota or Sota. had lots of fun then (abt 40 yrs ago) and wud still like to get some more Hilltopping in. maybe this summer. Great views from up there beautiful country. I hve an Uncle in the Mesa area. keep trying to get me out that way maybe some day. tnx agn and 73 de Ellis WA1RKS
Hi Ellis - I love hearing about the pioneers in Hilltopping. I don't think many people realize how far back it goes, and that you don't need a system to enjoy it. If you get out there portable let me know. I'd like to work you since it appears I haven't yet. If you do make it out this way to visit your uncle, spring and fall are best. Perfect temps. 73 my friend!
Really nice activation! SOTA and POTA in one go. I prefer POTA, because it is much easier to do. I have some disabilities, and I would have to do a drive-up SOTA if I were to do one, but I don't think there are any around my QTH. I think if I went to this summit, I would be tempted to stay all day and enjoy the view. 73.
If anybody can do it, you can. You might wait until Fall. It was a little toasty for me on the way down and it's heating up, as you know. I think the scenery will be better then too.
I completed Wilson hike on 8/13/2021 - indeed, was a very scenic and very memorable hike. On the upper flatland several groups of white tail deer, many types of trees and cactus. Will do this one again next year.

Thanks so much for including me in this video. I listened for awhile and you sounded great. Lost you when you went to 20M
Yes, that was a fun edition to the video. I really appreciate you sending the clip and supporting me with spots and all that.

Hi Larry - thank you so much for visiting the channel. Your words are very kind. I'll have to check out your podcast!
Great stuff Charlie. Come to think of it, I would say my 5 reasons are almost the same but in different order. Cheers.
Cool! I wondered if others have the same or a similar list.
Excellent u gave real signal reports ..
Thank you! I try to give real RST but I'm a little off sometimes, but yes, I always make the attempt.
The top reason I do Summits on the Air is all the peer pressure from you guys. 😆
Seriously though, great video. Thanks for always being out there and sharing these sights and sounds with us. We live vicariously through your SOTA.
Whatever it takes my friend haha
Thanks Dennis. We gotta meet in person some day. Maybe even without SOTA in the mix lol.
Just so beautful mother nature. Good job, sir. 73's de Uncle Günter from SW-Germany
Indeed! I understand Germany is very beautiful too. I would love to visit and check out the forests some day.
I looked you up. You are in my chaser log 10 times! So good to add a face to the name! 73 - Bruce-WY7N

Yes Chris! I could have emphasized that even more. Getting out there is so great for our mental health!

Incredibly beautiful out there! Your reasons for SOTA are very similar to mine! 73, Rex KE6MT
Hi Rex and thanks. That's cool we have similar thoughts.
Gud job man! I can’t tell what antenna you bring w you but it works. You touched on everything that pulls us into goals in the hobby. There’s so many!

I totally get that and agree. I'm happy to hear you are getting out there, regardless of how. Nature is rejuvenating, huh?
Great Activation Charlie ! - Going to put this on my list to activate !! - N3BZ

Much appreciated! 👍
it'd be great if their website worked... can't do anything on SOTA website, all blank screens
Strange, that's not my experience right now. I have occasionally seen this happen in the past.
first in chat, first in comments
It's a grand feeling to be first!
