- Today on the channel we take a look at a TEREX D600D and a LIEBHERR 731C that have been parked and abandoned for an unknown amount of time. No one is around to tell us the story so we have no idea if they are junk or actually good pieces of old iron. Right now, they are scheduled to get hauled to the scrap yard, but can we step in and do something about it? Tune in to find out!

well, what are the two worth...?
Safe it
Double scrap price, if that dude wants em gone.
Don't understand, why someone would want to get rid of such nice toys, though....
Lieber you may need main hydraulics to run hydro. So dump 5 gallons in. You also need to flip your safety lock up.
Price, scrap value minus shipping is what I do. Scrap yard doesn't pay full price in field. Dresser 5-8k value is my opinion.
Lieber I have no clue
I think 1000 over scrap value. Considering parts availability (risk!) any actuary will tell you it has to be priced into the purchase. I’d even go as low as 500 over scrap. It might feel like you’re stealing it but just hoses and an injector pump (for instance) might price the machines out of the resale market.
They are not CAT, nor IH, nor Allis, Case, or JD so little interest. Scrap
Sir I just found your channel today, 1st video I've seen. I love your low key calm style. No "youtuber voice", no trying to be a comedian, just a humble dude trying to do some root cause analysis. I enjoyed this!
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
That's funny, UA-camr voice! Your right. Sometimes they just need to present the video and not talk..
The liebherr starts with first turn and does not smoke . Machine is great 😊
Just because the engines good doesn't mean the rest of the dozer is.
The engine can easily outlive the rest of the machine, especially if maintenance hasn't been great.
Just the cost of rebuilding a final drive on a machine like this would financially render the machine scrap.
So.... what's the worth of the machine...more than scrap?
@@RUSH4WARD Your taking a huge risk with that liebherr - if that hydrostatic transmission has got issues it's game over.
I'd be offering scrap, no more.
You're right 👍
Playing with bulldozers is better than any old super bowl. That john deere sickle mower is awesome.
You got that right!
What a lovely sound that Liebherr engine makes
Incredible sound!
Hanomag is german yes. They built VERY robust tractors and engines... hard to kill. I think even if parts are not available for the Terex it's a good starter bulldozer for someone i'd say 4-5k at most.
No need to scrap those. Both have life left in them. This disposable society mentality needs to be stopped.
Hanomag was bought out by Libeherr. They made their own dozers and loaders. Parts are near impossible even here in Europe. True Terex dozers had only Detroit engines to my knowledge.
Hanomag was bought out by Komatsu, they bought the complete loader and crawler section of Hanomag. Sometimes you can spot dozers with the Komatsu color scheme and Hanomag decals on it.
The IH tractor in the background is the best buy there.
I'm screaming
The Liebherr probably has an OM 401 engine. A naturally aspirated V6 of around 9.6 litre displacement (125 x 130 mm bore and stroke). About 190 hp at 2500 rpm.
If you want to drive the Terex (Hanomag) D600 , you have to push the throttle lever to the left and right, that is for forward and reverse. The left lever is for shifting the gears, maybe two or three gears for speed up.
Also on the left side there is a lever with the red knob, this is the parking brake, put it down and the middle pedal comes up. To steer the D600 you have to use the left and right pedal to brake the chains.
Yeah that took me a while to figure out
that liebherr is worth it anyday of the week . take that and that chain for 1k over scrap value. might need a fix but that thing has a good engine for sure
I’d like to see the IH tractor in the background start!
Ditto
Me also.
Agree!
The guy had excellent taste. Hanomag made real quality machine's that got sold under the Massey ferguson name and in the 90s Komatsu bought them and they got absorbed in to komatsu they had a big market share in land fill compactors.
Funny, I had never heard of them before.
@@dieseJL have a look in to them they made halftrack trucks in ww2 and became a fairly popular company to the time komatsu bought them, I always loved the loader compactors they built.
Please save that liebherr just for the sound. Its like having a train engine in a mid sized dozer. Everyone is saying its top quality. Please save :o
Yeah it was a cool sounding diesel!
@@dieseJL " Was " ... :O !!!!!!!!!!
+_+ lol
Hanomag is an old German Motor company , founded on Hannover
Stimmt
Ich wohne in der Stadt
Hanomag (Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG) is/was a traditional tractor, engine and construction site machine manufactor over here in Germany. You found their engines almost inside everything, next to Deutz, MWM, MTU and MAN.
Good luck Tyler, I hope yall can get a bargain and help the lady out! Thanks for sharing, Louisiana sending prayers and positive vibes to you and your family! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌🏻🙋🏼
Thanks!! We’ll see!
The 1st one hauled the second one back from wherever it lost its fluid at or where the pump/line popped.
Very nice dozers. I wish I had space and money to play with these sort of equipment
In the UK the Terex was a Hanomag from Germany, they used them in our local ball clay pits, they reckon the clay slid off the track covers easily. I had a Hanomag 600C track loader, very similar to that dozer except for the bucket on front, I didn't like it very much, a bit tinny after a Cat. Our company aal bought the wheeled loaders, they were quite nice though. This was all in the late 70's
The Terex is actually a Hanomag D600D and you can get parts for it,strong machine.
we always put the Battery shut off on negative..that way any accessories get shut off and also no corrosion on neg cable or the shut off switch ....
I'm only going off by what I find on the net for prices when I look at used heavy equipment. But I've seen something like the Terex going for $10K in rough but functioning condition here in NY and over in Vermont. In clean cosmetic and good working condition I'd say $15K tops. But what people ask for their stuff and what they actually get from final sale are two different things. European built machines are nice but it's always parts availability that plague them here in the states. I personally think they both look to be in decent savable condition if you can get them cheap enough. :)
You find the coolest stuff
I spend a lot of time looking 🤣
It’s a hanomag loader with a Massey Ferguson badge on it
MF loader is also a rebadged hanomag 77c wheel loader
Great video the one dozer you can get moving with out to much work . The Trex by it for the right price and part it out. By them all the tractor in the back ground and the big Massey. Cool stuff .
Very kewl Tyler
The John Deere is probably a surplus tractor from either a state agency or local municipality in which the side sickle mower is fully driven by hydraulic pressure. The tractors that we had in Kentucky had the Triumph mowers which used SAE-30 oil rather than the hydraulic fluid. Personally, I have never laid eyes upon a Massey-Ferguson loader before. I think several years ago, that we had some very old Massey backhoes when I was first hired. We did have some Terex backhoes which were usually a bit of a pain to deal with compared to the more conventional brands. Both engines sounded pretty good considering that they had been inactive for some time.
It’s so cool
That Massey is a nice looking old tractor too
Just stumbled on your channel today. Your a very humbled person. Cant wait to see more videos from you. I see alot of other units you could start on that property. Take care
Thank you!
That Hanomag dozer used some clever marketing when it was new. Called it a D660 so people would think it was D6 sized but it’s D7 sized. That’s D7D undercarriage with a 140 horsepower engine - so D7 sized. I have actually run one of these and they’re pretty unremarkable. Sold it for 5K in running shape about 15-20 years ago. Can’t get parts. Same goes for that Liebherr dozer. A wise man would scrap them both.
Great video
Great video, I love to see what’s covered up in the brush, the Mack mixer if it runs will still have value as an export truck, there is a massy Ferguson loader that has been for sale near me for multiple years it runs and operates well the problem is you can’t find parts. Good luck on the dozers and the John Deere tractor would be a nice project. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
Thanks!
You need that Massey Ferguson loader
It’s basically a parts machine to someone who has one. In Canada they sold more of these. The blade is chained up for a reason. It was drug/pushed there and parts were not available.
Your doing a good thing 😊
Hanomag is german now a subsidiary of komatsu
you have a very good character about you for making videos. your personal development over the years is impressive.
Thank you Chris!
Get Some hydraulic oil put in it. Check on under the floor board for a dipstick or behind the seat for a dipstick for your transmission. It might even be in the engine compartment who knows. Like you and most everybody else i'm not familiar with a Is liebherr dozer . I'm more of a caterpillar man myself. But I assure you it is something simple that you're not thinking about or look at .
Hanomag equipment was sold by MF dealers when IBH bought back in the early 1980’s then they overstretched themselves and went bust. Good machines in their day.
You need to save all of them
Hanomag was a German company: trucks, engines, industrial equipment, etc. Folded around the mid-eighties. Part ended up with Komatsu, I believe. Hanomag stuff was very well regarded, when they were still around.
I'd pay just over scrap value, both are worth buying and saving. Buying all of the machinery as a job lot, to help clear the site and get a good deal.
Nice machines i would think both buy and repair them. Have a great day enjoyed your video
Thanks! We will see!
Sweet
More then likely needs hydro oil to run a charge pump that more then likely drives the trans 🤷♂️
selling price in europa is around 15 000 to 18 000 euro for a unit that runs with no problems
Good old machine. Take your time if you get them and allow TLC
These look up Diesel Creeks alley
🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those are both beautiful machines but one big problem and you'll be grounded especially the Liebherr, that said they are worth more in part's then whole so buy em cheap, ride em, bust em, part them out. Ya can't really loose.
The engine in the Liebherr sounds good, and starts on the key. Be nice to pull it out of that old dozer and use it as a generator, stationary engine, or swap it into an old work truck. Probably not easy to find parts for though.
Claass uses the Mercedes engine, shouldn’t be too hard to get parts, depending on age
Put it in my dune buggy
The Liebherr is absolutely the way to go, and you can get parts for that. The Hannomak is just for museum. I have ran Liebherr, Cat and case front end loaders and the Liebherr is just The Best Weel loader ever.
Both can be fixed t-rpossibly best would try it first if can be obtained for cheap about 2000
Hanomag engines from Germany, rebuilt even today are around 2500€ for 4 cylinders. They worth some money, yes!
Hanomog I think it's spelled made 6x6 version of the unimog by Mercedes. Great engines and machines.
The first one pulled the second one to were it now sits after it broke on a project on property? Looks like they are worth saving to sell off parts at very least then scrap the carcass if to many fixes needed
About emptying the canoe: Siphoning is a very underrated and underused ability.
Heck if I would’ve even had a bucket
Tyler if you keep toting those batteries don't expect to increase your family !
☹️
The hanomg d600 was a good dozer in its day over here in the uk some serious hrs put on them with little problems, the engines were the weakest point on the 600 you needed to let them warm up before working and let them cool down i ran a 600 with a volvo td70 engine crafted into it for 10 yrs moved a lot of dirt for little money 😂 we now run new and used liebherrs but its machines like the 600 that got me to this point
Amazing, maybe I’ll CAT swap it
Too good to scrap
They should be saved at all cost 💯
With them being willing to start, and with the poor quality of fuel these days,, either the guy dosed them well with StaBil or it hasn't been very long since he passed because black algae grows and plugs filters in 6 to 9 months untreated.
Lol
Given that both machines have been sitting for a while, and fluids would have settled out a bit, maybe given time to warm up a bit and let the fluids circulate, may help transmissions...I am only guessing. I have never operated a Liebherr, but I have been told on many occasions that once engine has warmed up (which also warms up trans fluid), that engine needs to be set on full throttle and left like that while you are working for the transmission to operate properly, and control all forward and reverse (both inching, and pushing) movements with the "gear lever". I will stand corrected on this if I am wrong, but that is what I have been told. Both engines sound very good. I reckon a good service and the Terex would be good to go. Maybe with a bit of attention, the Liebherr would also be a good machine for a few more years yet. Cheers...Trev, from Queensland, Australia.
Maybe that's Why the other Dozer is in Front of the TERRX=He was using Other to Move It💪🚜
The first bulldozer looks good except for the hour meter, and I think it's a gasoline engine not a diesel, right? This increases the risk slightly, If you want to play I prefer Bulldozer Trix least you know it goes back and forth, but for how long only God knows.
I thought the Liebherr had the same for both, hydro, and trans.
I work on several machine but the Liebherr was the best! And have excavator with 20k hours without problems! Probably the Liebherr731 have the LOCK for the joystick
Well, both engines seems to run fine so, that could be salvage. As for, how much tlc the machines will need ? I can't come up with a fair price.
The motor in the Liebherr looks like a Mercedes OM400 series, OM401 or OM421 most likely at a guess. There's probably a number on it somewhere that tells you :D
I enjoyed your video.
Thanks!
You're welcome. I like that you work with your Dad and that you're very optimistic. It's easy to get down when you're rescuing old equipment.
I would want to get all three of those machines
Matt from DieselCreek on UA-cam needs these
Love to hear the ssking prices and final sales price. Stumbled ito your world and probably overpaid for a 80s Case 360 trencher. So your teaching here too.
Just picked them up Saturday. You will see soon 😬
The first dozer, in my area would be sold for 5-10k, amd the leibherr is just a good parts machine, 2500-4k.
Liebherr is probably the best quality machine you can get.
Besides Cat, you mean 😇
@@dieseJL Old Cat yes, new Cat no.
How Much either one is worth is hard to say. It all depends on the person and how bad they need it or want it. You could probably go from 20.000up to 75.000 who knows. But i'm pretty sure rest of the internet people. No a hell a lot more than I do. They like to pride their self in knowing more than anybody else anyway. Anyway that's just my two cent. But I really would check on that dipstick for the transmission. Oh and check to see if you got any type of Part break for that thing just in case. Hope you all The luck in the world of getting them going.😀👍
Hanomag - Hen was initialy an independent German company, later swallowed by Mercedes, also German. The Mercedes still uses the name Hanomag for it. Hanomag (Hannoversche Machinenfabrik AG) made trains, cars, lorries, tractors, earth-moving machines and other tools. Source Wikipedia.
depending on condition and price that Ih tractor could be the diamond in the rough
I would get the terex but paying iron price for it, if you can't find spare parts it can become a nightmare. What microphone do you use man? It seems to work very well.
DJI. They are pretty amazing.
Got room in .my yard fit 2 in SWEET AS
That terex looks it is rebranded Hanomag D600 dozer
Maybe $2000 for the Liebier
Often wondered about the liebehhrr.. contemplated buying an excavator of theirs...i read that they build
Dozer's for Deere..700- 'up... someone else may know more..ive heard of Hanomag... don't know much about either...know that Germans make quality products...in general
That’s interesting, I know the Deere dozers of the same era are hydrostatic too. Makes sense.
@@dieseJL not sure on the older Deere of the vintage you showed, but newer Deere are Liebherr... can't remember what year's or the details on any of it...just heard that Liebherr has had a hand in them in one way or another in recent years...but perhaps year's ago as well...but anyway, thanks for the video 👍👍👊
Apparently since 2000, Liebherr has only built the larger 950/1050...Was curious,so I searched,.. I've also heard the Deere 700 and larger are Liebherr...not sure, doesn't matter 👍👊
Old iron is the best. They both started easy enough. Ask Matt @ diesel creek or Sam at scrappy industries. 5-6k maybe for both?
👍👍👍
Great video. What’s the situation with the 86 series tractor back there?
One of those outbuildings looks like a hunting stand
If they are hard to get parts for would that make them good to part out?
Parts availability could be the deciding factor for me.
The dipstick with out oil is your transmission
They are worth scrap weight. You are taking a risk. Plus you have to repair them, haul them. Whatever mixed scrap metal brings per pound.
Save the motor on the Liebherr and scrap the rest.
I would say, about 500.00 over scrap price. Parts, hard to find. I am just guessing.
Please don’t run the liebherr with a dry pump. Hurts me to see it. The fluid is her lubricant.
Nice video good luck with both!
Ironworks right here on UA-cam. He's e.n outfit that deals equipment t n parts. He'll figure out if he sells it whole or parts it out,
Liebherr just needs 40 liter of oil put in and see if it runs it has hydraulic drive so it needs oil 🤣
Scrap price minus shipping?
Probably
Attaboy X 2 Tyler.
Thanks!
