Ha, I'm here because I got a bunch of old records from my dad a few years back,he found them in a storage unit. I don't have a record player so I'm staring at this vinyl on the wall in my garage area where I spend most of my time thinking"I can't remember if I ever played that one" back when I had a way to play the vinyl. Nothing like the sound of a vinyl you just can't replicate it
I cannot stop loving the Steel drums on Morning Dance. And it came out in the 80's. It's a perfect composition. And I love everyone in the comments section. If you were lucky enough to hear the song live you were truly blessed. This is a slice of heaven with its Carrbean and Calypso vibes. Pure Jazz Fantasia!!!!! ❤😊
This song converted me to Jazz at age 12 in 1979 and I've never looked back since. You can listen to every instrument in isolation and enjoy it. Today, all the instruments play the same beat and you get bored after listening to it once. You can never get bored listening to this 20X a day. Just brilliant.

"Morning Dance" has always been my favorite Spyro Gyra song...I loved cruising on Lake Tahoe on a sailboat and listening to this and "It doesn't matter"! So smooth & relaxing...it doesn't get any better!

I love this song ! I used to jam with this song at the beautiful Hyatt Regency hotel when I was the bell captain enjoying life. Peace up! Thank you Hyatt for teaching me the Hyatt touch.
This is the song that did it for me back in 1982. After hearing it, I became a Spyro Gyra fan, and a jazz fan for life. Since that year, 1982, when I started college, jazz is all I listen to and I enjoy every second of it. My all time jazz songs are On the Stairs by Pat Martino and I'm Late, I'm Late by Stan Getz. I was about 23 when Morning Dance was first released. I had the album. I haven’t thought about this recording in years. I am now 67 years old, recovering from a recent hip replacement. Thinking about listening to something that will cheer me up in the morning. Morning Dance flashed through my mind. It still works as an inspirational pick me up. Thank you for posting.
Yeah, exactly. life was great back then before the globalists sold our Country out by outsourcing our Mfg base. It's a hollow remnant of what it once was.
The song that really opened my ears to Jazz. Oh the memories this one brings back, Thanks for posting this Gem! This song would relax me and put me in a festive mood back in the 80's better than almost anything at the time and that's saying a lot for one of the best times in the world for music, the 70's and 80's!
This song reminds me of going down to the beach in south Texas at South Padre Island around the time this song came out. I remember the song circulating on the airwaves when I was 10 years old. Reminds me of the sand and the sunshine and the palm trees and the nice times in the 70s, Enjoy!
Freshman year in the UAB BLAZER BAND... team would be warming up as we played this LIVE no crap no stadium anthems just solid live music. Miss those days.
Totally forgot this was the hit that first brought the group's unforgettable name to my attention, but like someone commented below, I instantly remembered every twist and turn in it. Must have been on the radio constantly in its prime. Fun to hear it again, love the steel drum in there, but wow, did this hit fall off all the radio playlists since the early 1980s!

Oh! how this great track takes me back to the summer of 1979 driving around the West end of London, on a hot Summer Weekend in my Silver Ford Capri GT. Playing this on my new and latest in-car Radio Cassette Player. Oh! Happy Days of my Youth.
Fun Fact: The album Morning Dance went gold the same year it was released. Eight years later, it was certified platinum. This LP has some legs! Over forty years after it was released, people are still enraptured by its sound.
I helped it go gold! I bought this album as soon as I heard it back in '79 ( thank you, WRVR, in NYC back in the day!) I memorized every solo and riff, and can still play the sax solo...loved this groove from the get go!
