I’m shocked they pay 10 bucks to McDonald’s employees starting out. There’s no understanding that all jobs hold different value based on the work that is produced and the efficiency in which the employee provides a valuable output to the company. Also, the time necessary to learn the job or be educated just to get the job. So 50 dollar at McDonald’s isn’t going to be reasonable to pay out for a doctor. It’s fairly simple to understand, yet never addressed by these people. Just raising the wage earner by those with the lowest incomes doesn’t make sense if educated people will now see fast food workers making the same as they do, so across the board income increases will be demanded as more workers grow frustrated with their own productivity being devalued by minimum wage job being boosted so much. There’s no consideration to this ever. Why are starter jobs and no education needed jobs being treated as careers? That’s the mindset that is the issue. We can’t help people who refuse to better their own situations and instead demand government intervention to boost them to the lifestyle they’ve decided they’ve earned.

@@cdawg3506 I mean, if they have something more important to do than I guess it makes sense why they wouldn’t what to do that, but exercise would still be good for the overall health of people I’m the U.S but then again, theirs still the issue that it might have a negative effect & make people more lazy; what I suggest is just do it one week every month for 3 month & see how people react/change in habits, & if its negative than try something else.
I think many Americans could benefit from more exercise, but only riding bikes for a lot of people is not feasible. I work for a beer distributor and set foot in several stores daily. If I have to bike 20 to 35 miles a day plus manually work all the orders then no one would work in this field. Some of my coworkers drive closer to 70 miles a day. Her viewpoint is far to idealistic for it to be realistic.
For years, I had to travel 1,5 hours by train to the next big city, so I could work. I'm pretty sure most working people have had this much life experience, even not that extreme. She sounds like she never really worked, except the part-time coffee-shop job.

Because public schools teach kids that authority figures always have their best interest at heart, that the individual can’t get out of their own problems, that those in power will save them. They’re told this before they can critically evaluate such statements. It’s then reinforced time and again until it’s somehow sensible.
Kids can be taught that a God who destroys cities and floods the world can somehow be all loving and all good, yet you’re surprised that the next generation of children could believe the government cares about them? I’m not surprised at all, but I’m disappointed in their parents.

Ya know, i've never really understood this rhetoric. I'm in my early 20s and just finished competing as a college athlete after playing multiple sports most of my life. I certainly had no experience with anything like "participation trophies", except for a little bauble given to athletes that made it to national championships, which was a ridiculously small subset of the pool.
Not saying that my experience speaks for all, so maybe it does happen in some places, but genuinely surprised that this is brought up so much.

Also, at a Taekwondo tournament, I got a 3rd place trophy after competing in my sub-group. My sub-group was 4 people. Lol I don't remember the 4th guy getting anything, but giving trophies to 3 out of 4 people seems laughable.
Also, bowl games for college football are a good collegiate example.

I am doing a bachelors in economics and am on the left. Right wing people thinking extremely conservative views are sound economics is an extremely misleading phenomenon. Research, for example, demonstrates that 'trickle down' economics is a total myth and yet Shapiro never shuts up about it.

Most people have no clue how the economy works. No clue whatsoever. They think money is inherently valuable and food and clean water just magically regenerate inside the grocery stores. They think you can shut down all production and services for months/years at a time while delivering trucks full of cash to every citizen's (and non-citizen) house, and the dollar will still hold it's value. I think the worst part is that it makes us all poorer than we would be. Imagine if people whose contribution was worth only a dollar per hour actually worked 40 hours per week producing something of value, instead of not at all. Sure, they might still depend on the government to prevent them from living in poverty, but that would be made slightly cheaper, and society as a whole would be wealthier as a result, so it's a net gain versus them just being unemployed.

I've never been anywhere in America with undrinkable water. If people lack the infrastructure to drink purified water from the tap, then you boil it. Only an imbecile would continue to drink bad water. Most people I know still won't drink water without some sort of purifier anyway, for the taste.

I am a registered nurse with a Bachelors degree.. it has taken me 21 years to get to $37/hr. But people with few skills want $35/hr ?? uggh. We are so fucked if this is what is voting out there.
