I just have to compliment you on how professional your channel is! Not only are you giving thorough information, but your set up and editing feels like I am watching a segment on a real television show. Keep up the great work!

The having to still cut things out and pretty much "dismantle" the teachers book is the biggest complaint I have heard about the new set up. I'm super hesitant to buy these new units.

Thank you so much for this video! Getting ready to order our first science unit. I''m definitely thinking I want to order student notebooks already printed. But I'm questioning the teachers guide since I also don't love the idea of having to tear out any of the pages that are already bound. Do you think it would be wise to order the PDF version of the teacher's guide and print it yourself to take out anything that I would take out anyways and have the rest bound? Or is there quite a bit of color in the teacher's guide as well that makes printing not quite as feasible? I hope that makes sense!

Hi! There is always a lot of color. I'd suggest still getting the printed. It was a little odd removing pages from the book, but it was mainly the vocab words. It would just take a lot of color to print, and it wouldn't work as well in black/white. I hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing! I have an older marine biology and they just got the new version today. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get since I like the student journals and not having to use time to cut and assemble those mini books.
I do wonder the same about durability since the covers do not seem sturdy.
Could you make photocopies of the vocabulary words on regular paper since you are laminating? That way you don’t have to pull the book apart.
I think it’s great that they have all these resources on PDF and some for free but really after adding up the printing cost is rarely worth it.
Anyways, after all this I still can’t decide about using the old marine biology or saving me some headaches and frustrations and get the new one! We did the older Safety and some of the lessons were so long that we ended up just using it as a read aloud and skipped the activities.

I think they changed to 3rd grade and up because they have come up with science specifically for k-2. We got the first drop in that line. I would just use scissors and cut out the pages you need removed, then you can pull put any extra from the binding. I also think the company will sell just the student journals so if you need them later, you just order more

Just ordered this one bc we did GR Dino’s and my girls wanted to keep going so we got this one. This will be my first science unit with TGTB so this was helpful, thank you.

How was this one compared to the GR unit? My son is interested in doing a dinosaur unit.

@@lesliedavis5323 it is far less involved than the GR bc it’s just a science unit and not an all subjects unit. It was fun for us and we just loved all the pic! I would say if it’s just for the Dino’s that he’s interested THTB is better for that. But if you want all the extra details about who discovered them and all the extra GR is great for that.

Does this course talk about millions of years?

It says on its website and books it doesn't say. It's written to be accessible to both young and old earth believers. You can see samples on their website.

Don’t like that you have to pay extra for the 7-8 grade extension information. My child is young but does enjoy hearing the extra info even if he doesn’t do the project. I pointed out this flaw and they told me to purchase the older student journal. 🤨. Glad I ordered the discounted units. I’m not interested in buying two student journals now.

I do wish the extension lessons were in the teacher's book. I debated buying the older student book as well. I liked how they were included in the regular lesson materials with the older units.

I don't think it's actually good for an older age. My 6th grader is bored and already knows a big portion of this information just through his other reading and consuming shows and movies that include concepts, it's really not in-depth enough for us and is sort of a disappointment. TGTB is the best at Language arts I don't like any of the science so far. and this is our second unit, I wanted to give it another try but continuously feel let down by having to do so much to supplement what he's learning it's just not enough information or depth to capture my son's attention. Takes us 10 mins or less to go through a lesson. Which is not on a 6th grade level much less 8th grade. No way.

We just completed the first lesson in Paleontology last week. It did go faster than other units. I was able to read one of our dinosaur books and we also watched some UA-cam videos on the dinosaur locations mentioned in the first lesson. So far my kids seem interested. My kids are younger though, 4th, 2nd, and 1st grade. I'm still getting used to the new format.
