To me the cross in the basement seems to be an elongated version of the Templar Cross, the crusader order. Who were excommunicated and subsequently hunted down by the Catholic Church for allegedly worshiping the demon Baphomet (among other alleged crimes). And there are theories that a group of them managed to escape persecution and sailed to the New World (North and South America). So it is possible that the founders of Ekron were decedents of the Templars and established a new place of worship in the small town to avoid notice.
I don't really think so. That cross matches almost completely a celtic cross... but why? I don't think it's a satanic cult, but more like a secret society (like the freemasons). There's gotta be more to this.
I haven't had much time to play or explore yet, so this is fun! I hope you'll eventually check out the secret military base. I'm *DYING* to know what's there now that we can get into the basement.
upside down crucifixes is the symbol of Saint Peter, as he was crucified upside down. An upside down cross doesn't really have anything to do with Satanic worship. It's more of a pop culture thing.
Reference to the Satanic Panic. Where parents, spurred on by newspapers and religious zealots, were terrified of satanism from all kinds of sources, from roleplaying games, music and even trick or treaters.
So...if you were a cultist and didn't have a sledgehammer you'd have to climb into one of those mortuary drawers and give the secret knock? 👀
oh my... mp servers are gonna go hard
Double basement? In MY zombie apocalypse?!
THE BASEMENT ADDITIONS ARE SO COOL-
Considering how beat up is, it might be abandoned at the start of the game.

Beelzebub hangs out in Kentucky. Yeah, that tracks.
If it's a demon worshipping cult, why do they have the crosses? Then again, who has a basement cult?
My neighbor Jerry does, hate that guy so much
thats insane I would have never found that ever
How did someone find this out?
I don't think it's demonic, moreso just a secret order of sorts.
Ohh I wanna see more.
Those statues makes think that Indie Stone could pull off a diablo game.

Well the crucifixes aren't upside-down.

No wonder parents used to think rock/metal music was satanic 😅
