It reminds me of a show a long time ago. It was talking about hunting be a bad thing. They showed people hunting game which was inside of a huge cage. That was not hunting! Using live scope is like hunting game inside of a cage. You can not go wrong, you will catch fish. No contest.
Yeah, that's kind of what corporations do. If they don't make a profit from their risked capital, then they go bust. Who should bankroll the payouts for these tournaments? If it is to fall on the shoulders of the fishermen, so be it.

Is/was it also a consideration (by Ray Scott) that you are more likely to mortally wound a fish by fishing with live bait than you are when hooking them on a lure? I think that's a valid consideration.
When I was a kid, we used a night crawler on a night crawler harness. Caught lots of bass just dragging those behind the boat with a 5 hp eninrude. Those were the days.
Randy correct me if I'm wrong but I'm NOT! When BASS started the tournament series didn't EVERYONE had same boat same tackle box and rod and reels 100 percent across the board CORRECT? SO what happened to that 🤔 WHEREVER it changed THATS where everything STARTED but I AGREE with you.
I wish someone would come up with a more relatable fishing tournament trail. I still can’t figure out why someone needs a 21 or 22 ft long bass boat when you’re the only competitor on the front deck 😂 I’d like to see a trail where the boats are no longer than 19 ft, 150 hp max, max speed limit of 55mph on competition days, 1 console fishfinder with a max 10” allowable screen and 1 bow mount with max 12” screen, side scan transducer allowed only at console, and no FFS or 360 degree sonar allowed at any point PERIOD. If everyone is such a great fisherman then let’s standardize the equipment like in a lot of auto racing leagues and find out if it’s the man or the machine behind them being so successful.
I’m just getting going on big water bass fishing. The used boat I got had a live scope on it. I think it is a neat technology, but what can happen is you end up staring at the screen a lot of the time and relying on it instead of actually fishing / casting and trying different areas.

I watched the Garmin Guru video talking about how wrong Hank Parker was, but yet he spent half his video making Hank Parker's point. He said the younger generation can relate to the livescope due to their smartphone and video game lifestyle. Ummm, yeah, they relate to the electronics with no concern for the fish or environment. If they really were relating to the fishing aspect alone, they'd be interested with or without livescope.
Randy, as always it's follow the money. I ran very large hotel conventions in the largest convention towns, and I have to sit through thousands of hours of different topics while running these shows. Those in charge of these events might swear that they are not getting any kick back from the companies who are making this technology, but I'd bet cash money that someone they know is getting it and slyly passing it them. Someone is getting some money for this BS to be allowed. I appreciate your insight and fresh water fishing is a new thing for this old Miami guy. We'd ride our bikes to Biscayne Bay to catch dinner. 13 Children, that was just the way it was back in the day. There was nothing like the old Miami in the 60 and 70s. Saltwater was a better way for us back in the day. Freshwater was for jumping off the locks and bridges 😂😂😂
Hey Randy this is why I quit fishing tournaments I am a lifetime member of Bassmaster and have been since 1977 I was there the day you won the tournament at Kerr lake buggs island I am totally disgusted with the way tournaments are going these days every tournament that I ever fish anymore is won on live scope I have fished for 55 years and I have learned a lot in that time I learned how to pattern fish I learned how to structure fish fish shallow fish deep and it is a crying shame that today’s bass fishermen have to go out and the only way they can win a tournament is on live scope it makes me sick and although I am getting old I am so glad I don’t fish tournaments anymore keep up the good work friend
Randy, as I have said time and time again. It is all about MONEY. I agree with you 100%. Keep it up but I don't see them changing any rules about FFS. My 2 cents worth is letting them use it on practice days with their $100,000 worth of electronics but not allowed on tournament days. What is your thinking on that opinion?
My question is, what do you thin the electronic companies will do if you ban their flagship products. They sponsored guys/tournaments to increase sales. If you get rid of their main money maker, then they will put money into other industries. I’m not saying live scope is good for bass tournaments, but it is funding them.
As long as FFS is legal in tournaments, let's make live bait legal, including shiners! In FL we have some shiners big enough to put a GoPro on them and we can watch live when the bass inhales them! That'll be so much fun livescope will be boring!

The two problems that comes mind is gut hooking bass would be number one. The second problem would be endlessly removing everything else from your hook but bass, bluegill, catfish, bullheads, crappie, carp the species would be endless. Now if it’s an all species fishing tournament yeah go ahead and use live bait and have a fish fry to celebrate.
I think there are way too many bass tournaments… Lakes are being over fished and tournaments are killing a lot of the large bass populations… Can you do a video on this subject…
Adding crawdads and earthworms to the list of allowed baits would greatly widen the window of people who would participate, introducing a new dynamic to be threatened by. Front facing GPS is going to he afforded by much less people, much of which are already involved in the sport. Therefore, it is a much less threatening prospect to them because it goes along with an exclusionary narrative rather than inclusive 🤷🏻♂️
I doubt Ben Millikan would catch many without FFS he’s not a bad fisherman by any means he would just have a very tough time if it went back to old school
Randy I have to give you a thumbs for your belief and your stance on FFS. I have to ask have you ever used a fish finder? have you ever used a fish finder to confirm your belief that fish exist on a spot during practice. FFS is a fish finder it does it based on newer technology where what you are viewing is live. You had mentioned that fish don't have a chance to hide anymore. Then should we prevent the use of skipping under docks, or maybe no fishing around docks at all its there hiding place. FFS helps you find fish, it doesn't catch them for you. I have used FFS many times and been skunked. Other than the expense and learning how to use the technology and making more fish available to throw to what really is the issue here in adding another fish finder to the boat? maybe because the older fisherman aren't willing to change and try something new, and say its cheating is rediculous. and some of your analogies, shooting deer with a drone. I had to laugh at the one. I suggest everybody just gets over it and move on. Learn to use your fish finder better to locate the fish off shore because beating the banks with the number of anglers out there anymore will not produce the fish to win tournaments any longer. or buy FFS and learn how to use it.
Mike Swofford I talked to Missouri Conservation agent this morning she had not heard anything about forward facing sonar , I told her about my concern about it and suggested the state of Missouri might want to ban it .
People have no idea what it does or how it works. When you explain it to them- 9 outta ten say cheating. It is a truly repulsive technology that could easily be banned. Keep up the good work. Karma will bless you with numbers that scopers can only dream of.

That’s definitely something to think about. I question why the umbrella rig or Alabama rig was quick to be banned. It burst onto the scene and was THE LURE to use. Explanation came in the form of giving the angler too great of an advantage over the fish. Does FFS give an unfair advantage ? Thanks for the videos. Tight lines and Godspeed.
Randy Thank you for your information it is very enlightening to see someone that believes the most talented should be the winner not the one with the most money and toys. I always believed that live bait was a NO NO because to the kill rate. Live bait the fish tend to swallow and ingest the bait as opposed to crank baits and plastics they are caught more in the mouth than throat. But hey I am old and still believe that every one should compete on a level playing field. Cheers

I don't know the answer to this, but is it possible that the people at the tournament organizations who can see the books know that if they removed the money from electronics companies the whole sport would basically collapse? I just wonder if it's a self preservation issue for them. I'm sure if they pull their money it'll be all the money, with no regard for the orgs still allowing 2d. If they take their ball and go home, it's liable to cook the goose of Bassmaster as an entity.
The problem of LS and FFS will resolve itself but not in a good way. After the fisheries have been decimated and there is little left in our waters to be caught, and our wildlife departments are left to act (too late), boat and tackle sales will fall to nothing and sportfishing will be near death, the people who created these technologies will claim they didn't know that these commercial technologies, used for sportfishing, would result in the death of the sport and their industries.
Right where they want us. Off "their" water. Garmin will just put ffs on the patrol drones. Multi million dollar corporations are not the least bit concerned about anything but money. If we let them get away with it- it is nobody's fault but our own.
When FFS first came on the scene I truly though it would be a tool I'd use to see places I already fished. I was greatly mistaken and never thought that these guys would do what they're doing with it now. Now I find myself still using it as I did in 2019 till now, but I underestimated the avenue that it took. I don't believe FFS should be a total ban, but I do agree it has no place in use on tournament day. Just my current position, I guess It really is a like / hate relationship lol. Anyway, good vid. But I must say with everything going on in the world today . Ffs and fishing controversies are the absolute least of our worries. Fishing is a pass time. It's supposed to enjoyable. The real heros are the people that get up every morning go to work ,pay their taxes ,mow their lawn and volunteer for community services. But those folks are becoming scarce. I obviously agree… but who’s saying ffs is among the biggest problems we have now? Its a fishing channel… what other problems do you think should be addressed here? It’s more than that to it I think though. Fishing is an entire industry not just spoiled pros. I did all of the stuff you mentioned and busted my ass to build opportunities for my kids to be able to chase their dreams at the same time. I don’t like that high school events that come with scholarships and sponsorship opportunities that can spring a kid to a dream career are being won because daddy has money and really because daddy is scanning and telling kids where to cast. I could care less about the elites too for real except that it all kinda flows downhill from there. A lot of work went into getting these events up and going and frankly I would rather see some of the pros showing appreciation for opportunities they have been given. Especially young guys. I qualified actually in 99 and was in a bad accident that left me spending what should have been my rookie season in a coma in a hospital or in rehab. I never had that kind of chance again. I’m glad there’s someone talking about it and somewhere we can discuss this stuff too.

They are the real hero's that we need to give thanks to. You have the right to get up and go to work due to what our military does every day which is making all the things we want to do be double.
The live scope is just AI fishing like high school kids using AI to write papers. Take away the electronics and see what happens. I had to pass my professional Engineering exam with a calculator that only had basic functions, because they want people designing bridges that actually know what they’re doing

How is any of it analogous with ffs? If you want to show livescope images to fans during the tv coverage and let the marshals control it…. That might be analogous. Heck, let all the pros have a coach watch from a booth somewhere and communicating to the pros through an earpiece if you want. None of it would make the difference that the pros watching fish react to a lure in real time themselves can. There’s nothing analogous to that in any other professional sport.

@@baldbeardedbasser bad analogy but you have one part right. Aluminum bats aren’t used because they give an advantage to the hitters which disadvantages the pitcher and puts his safety at risk. FFS not only changes, but eliminates skills that have been essential to the sport. For example… Why would I use all of the techniques I learned to avoid drawing fish off of offshore structure now? That was one of the biggest things separating a good offshore structure fisherman from an okay one. It’s easier to isolate and target the individual bigger fish with them out there in the abyss now…. Disadvantage older guys whose long hard earned skill has been rendered worthless… advantage younger guys who didn’t have to develop that skill, and were playing video games while older guys were on the water doing just that. See how that works? One thing I hear a lot that’s total nonsense is that it was basically just luck before we could see them on sonar. I’m grateful for things I have learned from it about fish behavior… but there’s more random searching going on when I’m scanning the middle of a cove looking for pelagic fish than when I was a kid dragging a heavy C- rig to dissect a ledge. Another thing… why is electronics the one thing that has never been slow rolled into the sport. Do you know that there were limits on the length of rods when flipping became a go to technique? They were eventually eased not eventually put into place. The technique originated with guys who were using things like surf rods and extra heavy fly rods to reach way back and precisely and stealthily lower baits into heavy cover. The powers that be didn’t like that it became so dominant so quickly and how the art of precision casting was being hurt by it. So they set a 7,6” limit on rod length and guys had to figure out how to “flip” and “pitch” those lures into the same places with stealth. Rod lockers on boats wouldn’t even accommodate those lengths. I think I actually still have a couple of old Allstar sticks with telescoping handles so the could be stored. Why should advancement in electronics not be treated similarly?
Yes it’s a shame how far from Ray Scott’s dream professional bass fishing has strayed. There needs to be a limit on graphs and transducers. I feel like “pros” should be limited to 1 FFS transducer and 2 units 16” or less. Both units have to be by the same manufacturer.
It's like my father asked me back in the day... if you knew you could rob the bank and get away with it would you. In those days I believe the majority of the people would have said no but in todays world most would say sure and then refer to themselves as a good business man. Sad state of affairs.
Randy - Your comments are spot on with this. The degradation of our natural resources should never be permitted to be compromised nor should forward facing sonar be permitted in any tournament scenario (it’s truly legalized cheating). Maybe the best approach is to have the State fish commissions make forward facing sonar illegal to use based on the degradation of our fisheries? Then no tournament/angler would be permitted to use it in any way shape or form?
Great video, my friend you make perfect sense. I will have to admit. I wanted live scope for quite some time saved up money to get it. I have it on my boat now, but wish I would have spent the money on something else for my boat after I did a few times, I just don’t enjoy it. I feel like I’ve not even been fishing when I used it.
I thing I’ve asked multiple people and no one can give me an answer. What do sponsees pay for? Elite anglers have come out and said they don’t pay things like they used to. They say they have to pay their own entry fees, food, gas, lodging, ect. So how are these electronic companies helping anyone but Bassmaster????
Using all the technology available isn't necessary if you want to catch fish, only if you want to catch all the fish and decimate the population. I haven't used a treble hook of a barbed hook since 1979 trying to have less of an impact on every fish released. My ego hasn't suffered.
Oh Randy, why won’t you understand the days of old-school bass fishing where you grow up on a pond and sleep in your truck and go through that process are over my friend not because of spotlighting, because they added a juniors division, a high school division and a college division. These are subjects you know nothing about because you never went through it. I’ve seen parents in Connecticut, learn how to drive a boat so they could take their kid bass fishing in a high school series. It’s just a new reality.
I am 74 years old use to fish for Large mouth Bass in Puddingstone Lake. Big Nightcrawlers with a small syringe I would put a little air in them so they would float. My Cousin was making worms with colored silicone. Though he caught fish the night crawlers would catch the bigger Bass

I watch all your videos and follow. For the moment I think we are making way too big a deal out of this. I do not like the term spot lighting, that is not what is happening. Deer gets blinded and freeze in spot lighting, bass do not. I am guessing, but I bet 98% of the fishing public do not catch more fish with forward facing. I mentioned this on Fish the moment, someone invented brush piles and won many events with them. I know for a fact people still win events with brush piles, not me, I always considered it too much work, and I sucked at it. I bought the X70A win it came out, and I was like OK here we go. Hell, I left it off most of the time. I feel 100% sure in a couple years some new tech will come out and replace forward facing or improve on it. On writing this, I thought anchors were not legal. Is a power pole just an anchor? Remember not long ago when the 150hp was max? Allowing the 250 let pros get to fish they could not in the past due to time. (Somewhat at least). No guarantee they will catch those fish, much like Forward facing, there is still no guarantee to catch what they see. To me, when the day comes that some imbecile makes a lure with an electric charge, to release when it gets close to a bass and the bass floats to the top, then we have a problem. My point is this. There is always some new technology coming out, some we agree with and some we do not. Just thought of something else. Get a forward-facing sonar to prove your point. That would make more noise than just talking.
Hey Randy. I remember when Aqua vu came out with underwater camera. right away they were banned for tourney days. They can use I believe on the pre fish but that is it. I am sure you will probally know more about this during your time on the tours.
I agree-almost. I think basic depth finders and thermometers would be okay, but not much else. Part of the sport is figuring out where the bass are, not flipping a switch on and seeing them all on a screen-in real time, at that.

I watched a Hank Parker Show yesterday and they were using FFS (Humminbird) and he could not praise it enough. He was saying it would change fishing forever. I am sure this show came out before he was talking trash against FFS . Just thought it was interesting.

A few years ago the Alabama rig was controversial and banned from many tournaments.
I think scoping is more in line, not with live bait, but trolling.
The future for FFS will not bigger screens, it will be with headsets.

Hey Randy this is why I quit fishing tournaments I am a lifetime member of Bassmaster and have been since 1977 I was there the day you won the tournament at Kerr lake buggs island I am totally disgusted with the way tournaments are going these days every tournament that I ever fish anymore is won on live scope I have fished for 55 years and I have learned a lot in that time I learned how to pattern fish I learned how to structure fish fish shallow fish deep and it is a crying shame that today’s bass fishermen have to go out and the only way they can win a tournament is on live scope it makes me sick and although I am getting old I am so glad I don’t fish tournaments anymore keep up the good work friend
Randy, as I have said time and time again. It is all about MONEY. I agree with you 100%. Keep it up but I don't see them changing any rules about FFS. My 2 cents worth is letting them use it on practice days with their $100,000 worth of electronics but not allowed on tournament days. What is your thinking on that opinion?
My question is, what do you thin the electronic companies will do if you ban their flagship products. They sponsored guys/tournaments to increase sales. If you get rid of their main money maker, then they will put money into other industries. I’m not saying live scope is good for bass tournaments, but it is funding them.
As long as FFS is legal in tournaments, let's make live bait legal, including shiners! In FL we have some shiners big enough to put a GoPro on them and we can watch live when the bass inhales them! That'll be so much fun livescope will be boring!

The two problems that comes mind is gut hooking bass would be number one. The second problem would be endlessly removing everything else from your hook but bass, bluegill, catfish, bullheads, crappie, carp the species would be endless. Now if it’s an all species fishing tournament yeah go ahead and use live bait and have a fish fry to celebrate.

Adding crawdads and earthworms to the list of allowed baits would greatly widen the window of people who would participate, introducing a new dynamic to be threatened by. Front facing GPS is going to he afforded by much less people, much of which are already involved in the sport. Therefore, it is a much less threatening prospect to them because it goes along with an exclusionary narrative rather than inclusive 🤷🏻♂️

Randy I have to give you a thumbs for your belief and your stance on FFS. I have to ask have you ever used a fish finder? have you ever used a fish finder to confirm your belief that fish exist on a spot during practice. FFS is a fish finder it does it based on newer technology where what you are viewing is live. You had mentioned that fish don't have a chance to hide anymore. Then should we prevent the use of skipping under docks, or maybe no fishing around docks at all its there hiding place. FFS helps you find fish, it doesn't catch them for you. I have used FFS many times and been skunked. Other than the expense and learning how to use the technology and making more fish available to throw to what really is the issue here in adding another fish finder to the boat? maybe because the older fisherman aren't willing to change and try something new, and say its cheating is rediculous. and some of your analogies, shooting deer with a drone. I had to laugh at the one. I suggest everybody just gets over it and move on. Learn to use your fish finder better to locate the fish off shore because beating the banks with the number of anglers out there anymore will not produce the fish to win tournaments any longer. or buy FFS and learn how to use it.
It seems like modern electronics are more effective than live bait and trolling.
Mike Swofford I talked to Missouri Conservation agent this morning she had not heard anything about forward facing sonar , I told her about my concern about it and suggested the state of Missouri might want to ban it .
People have no idea what it does or how it works. When you explain it to them- 9 outta ten say cheating. It is a truly repulsive technology that could easily be banned. Keep up the good work. Karma will bless you with numbers that scopers can only dream of.

I question why the umbrella rig or Alabama rig was quick to be banned. It burst onto the scene and was THE LURE to use. Explanation came in the form of giving the angler too great of an advantage over the fish.

Randy Thank you for your information it is very enlightening to see someone that believes the most talented should be the winner not the one with the most money and toys. I always believed that live bait was a NO NO because to the kill rate. Live bait the fish tend to swallow and ingest the bait as opposed to crank baits and plastics they are caught more in the mouth than throat. But hey I am old and still believe that every one should compete on a level playing field. Cheers

I don't know the answer to this, but is it possible that the people at the tournament organizations who can see the books know that if they removed the money from electronics companies the whole sport would basically collapse? I just wonder if it's a self preservation issue for them. I'm sure if they pull their money it'll be all the money, with no regard for the orgs still allowing 2d. If they take their ball and go home, it's liable to cook the goose of Bassmaster as an entity.
The problem of LS and FFS will resolve itself but not in a good way. After the fisheries have been decimated and there is little left in our waters to be caught, and our wildlife departments are left to act (too late), boat and tackle sales will fall to nothing and sportfishing will be near death, the people who created these technologies will claim they didn't know that these commercial technologies, used for sportfishing, would result in the death of the sport and their industries.
Right where they want us. Off "their" water. Garmin will just put ffs on the patrol drones. Multi million dollar corporations are not the least bit concerned about anything but money. If we let them get away with it- it is nobody's fault but our own.
When FFS first came on the scene I truly though it would be a tool I'd use to see places I already fished. I was greatly mistaken and never thought that these guys would do what they're doing with it now. Now I find myself still using it as I did in 2019 till now, but I underestimated the avenue that it took. I don't believe FFS should be a total ban, but I do agree it has no place in use on tournament day. Just my current position, I guess It really is a like / hate relationship lol. Anyway, good vid. Years ago in Michigan when the mayfly hatched were on, it was almost impossible to catch bass. But they would still eat a crawfish or hellgramite.

I'm still pissed about the guy that put bass in storage bin. I want that p o s to pay some kind of consequences. Talk about complacency. So what your saying is if I use live bait I don't need ffs. But I must say with everything going on in the world today . Ffs and fishing controversies are the absolute least of our worries. Fishing is a pass time. It's supposed to enjoyable. I don't give a hoot in hell about a bunch spoiled rotten rich kid fishing so they don't have to work a real job. The real heros are the people that get up every morning go to work ,pay their taxes ,mow their lawn and volunteer for community services. But those folks are becoming scarce. I obviously agree… but who’s saying ffs is among the biggest problems we have now? Its a fishing channel… what other problems do you think should be addressed here? It’s more than that to it I think though. Fishing is an entire industry not just spoiled pros. I did all of the stuff you mentioned and busted my ass to build opportunities for my kids to be able to chase their dreams at the same time. I don’t like that high school events that come with scholarships and sponsorship opportunities that can spring a kid to a dream career are being won because daddy has money and really because daddy is scanning and telling kids where to cast. I could care less about the elites too for real except that it all kinda flows downhill from there. A lot of work went into getting these events up and going and frankly I would rather see some of the pros showing appreciation for opportunities they have been given. Especially young guys. I qualified actually in 99 and was in a bad accident that left me spending what should have been my rookie season in a coma in a hospital or in rehab. I never had that kind of chance again. I’m glad there’s someone talking about it and somewhere we can discuss this stuff too.

The live scope is just AI fishing like high school kids using AI to write papers. Take away the electronics and see what happens. I had to pass my professional Engineering exam with a calculator that only had basic functions, because they want people designing bridges that actually know what they’re doing
Livescope is not a guarantee you will catch fish look at lake chowan alot of the best fisherman in the sport had trouble catching fish

How is any of it analogous with ffs? If you want to show livescope images to fans during the tv coverage and let the marshals control it…. That might be analogous. Heck, let all the pros have a coach watch from a booth somewhere and communicating to the pros through an earpiece if you want. None of it would make the difference that the pros watching fish react to a lure in real time themselves can. There’s nothing analogous to that in any other professional sport.

@@baldbeardedbasser bad analogy but you have one part right. Aluminum bats aren’t used because they give an advantage to the hitters which disadvantages the pitcher and puts his safety at risk. FFS not only changes, but eliminates skills that have been essential to the sport. For example… Why would I use all of the techniques I learned to avoid drawing fish off of offshore structure now? That was one of the biggest things separating a good offshore structure fisherman from an okay one. It’s easier to isolate and target the individual bigger fish with them out there in the abyss now…. Disadvantage older guys whose long hard earned skill has been rendered worthless… advantage younger guys who didn’t have to develop that skill, and were playing video games while older guys were on the water doing just that. See how that works? One thing I hear a lot that’s total nonsense is that it was basically just luck before we could see them on sonar. I’m grateful for things I have learned from it about fish behavior… but there’s more random searching going on when I’m scanning the middle of a cove looking for pelagic fish than when I was a kid dragging a heavy C- rig to dissect a ledge. Another thing… why is electronics the one thing that has never been slow rolled into the sport. Do you know that there were limits on the length of rods when flipping became a go to technique? They were eventually eased not eventually put into place. The technique originated with guys who were using things like surf rods and extra heavy fly rods to reach way back and precisely and stealthily lower baits into heavy cover. The powers that be didn’t like that it became so dominant so quickly and how the art of precision casting was being hurt by it. So they set a 7,6” limit on rod length and guys had to figure out how to “flip” and “pitch” those lures into the same places with stealth. Rod lockers on boats wouldn’t even accommodate those lengths. I think I actually still have a couple of old Allstar sticks with telescoping handles so the could be stored. Why should advancement in electronics not be treated similarly?
Yes it’s a shame how far from Ray Scott’s dream professional bass fishing has strayed. There needs to be a limit on graphs and transducers. I feel like “pros” should be limited to 1 FFS transducer and 2 units 16” or less. Both units have to be by the same manufacturer.
It's like my father asked me back in the day... if you knew you could rob the bank and get away with it would you. In those days I believe the majority of the people would have said no but in todays world most would say sure and then refer to themselves as a good business man. Sad state of affairs.
Randy - Your comments are spot on with this. The degradation of our natural resources should never be permitted to be compromised nor should forward facing sonar be permitted in any tournament scenario (it’s truly legalized cheating). Maybe the best approach is to have the State fish commissions make forward facing sonar illegal to use based on the degradation of our fisheries? Then no tournament/angler would be permitted to use it in any way shape or form?
Great video, my friend you make perfect sense. I will have to admit. I wanted live scope for quite some time saved up money to get it. I have it on my boat now, but wish I would have spent the money on something else for my boat after I did a few times, I just don’t enjoy it. I feel like I’ve not even been fishing when I used it.

I thing I’ve asked multiple people and no one can give me an answer. What do sponsees pay for? Elite anglers have come out and said they don’t pay things like they used to. They say they have to pay their own entry fees, food, gas, lodging, ect. So how are these electronic companies helping anyone but Bassmaster????
Using all the technology available isn't necessary if you want to catch fish, only if you want to catch all the fish and decimate the population. I haven't used a treble hook of a barbed hook since 1979 trying to have less of an impact on every fish released. My ego hasn't suffered.
Oh Randy, why won’t you understand the days of old-school bass fishing where you grow up on a pond and sleep in your truck and go through that process are over my friend not because of spotlighting, because they added a juniors division, a high school division and a college division. These are subjects you know nothing about because you never went through it. I’ve seen parents in Connecticut, learn how to drive a boat so they could take their kid bass fishing in a high school series. It’s just a new reality.

I am 74 years old use to fish for Large mouth Bass in Puddingstone Lake. Big Nightcrawlers with a small syringe I would put a little air in them so they would float. My Cousin was making worms with colored silicone. Though he caught fish the night crawlers would catch the bigger Bass

Probably because fishing without electronics takes work,practice, skill. Most people today are mentally to weak to do so.
I watch all your videos and follow. For the moment I think we are making way too big a deal out of this. I do not like the term spot lighting, that is not what is happening. Deer gets blinded and freeze in spot lighting, bass do not. I am guessing, but I bet 98% of the fishing public do not catch more fish with forward facing. I mentioned this on Fish the moment, someone invented brush piles and won many events with them. I know for a fact people still win events with brush piles, not me, I always considered it too much work, and I sucked at it. I bought the X70A win it came out, and I was like OK here we go. Hell, I left it off most of the time. I feel 100% sure in a couple years some new tech will come out and replace forward facing or improve on it. On writing this, I thought anchors were not legal. Is a power pole just an anchor? Remember not long ago when the 150hp was max? Allowing the 250 let pros get to fish they could not in the past due to time. (Somewhat at least). No guarantee they will catch those fish, much like Forward facing, there is still no guarantee to catch what they see.
To me, when the day comes that some imbecile makes a lure with an electric charge, to release when it gets close to a bass and the bass floats to the top, then we have a problem.
My point is this. There is always some new technology coming out, some we agree with and some we do not.
Just thought of something else. Get a forward-facing sonar to prove your point. That would make more noise than just talking.

Hey Randy. I remember when Aqua vu came out with underwater camera. right away they were banned for tourney days. They can use I believe on the pre fish but that is it. I am sure you will probally know more about this during your time on the tours.
Aqua view is tedious and u can’t use that in the speed of tournament fishing and that is why it never went viral. Its sucks

I agree-almost. I think basic depth finders and thermometers would be okay, but not much else. Part of the sport is figuring out where the bass are, not flipping a switch on and seeing them all on a screen-in real time, at that.

I watched a Hank Parker Show yesterday and they were using FFS (Humminbird) and he could not praise it enough. He was saying it would change fishing forever. I am sure this show came out before he was talking trash against FFS . Just thought it was interesting.
Dude where do you want to draw the line? 360, power poles, spot lock trolling motors, gps, lithium batteries, higher tech rods reels lures sunglasses and UA-cam. It all is way more advanced than it was back in your day. Just go fishing

Funny, but very true analogy on the subject I don’t get it either. Our local club tournament is dominated every week by live scope I quit fishing of these tournaments because of that
