Nice fishing. I fish that area too but not with that technique.. Are you using a weighted hook? I have one comment please don’t take it bad. How about releasing those young halibut in the water without bringing them into the boat. That kind of handling beats them up and I think is not necessary. . Anyway it’s nice to see so many halibut now. People are doing good letting the shorts go. We will see more big ones soon.😊

@@mikeroll9868 I was using drop shot. Reply, “ How about releasing those young halibut in the water without bringing them into the boat “ huh I guess it’s better to net it next time. Thank for letting me know. 😊

@@Adankayak hey thanks for the fast reply. It depends on your net. I have seen so many halibut with split tails from netting with large mesh nets.

@@mikeroll9868 The reason I stop using a net because it will damage the tail. There are no good ways to release it. Have you tried using your thumb and holding the halibut by its lips. It really works. You should try that next time. Have you seen a lot of people on UA-cam using a net. Make sure you comment to them to stop using a net. I appreciate you watching! Thank you 😊

@@Adankayak I totally get it. I had a larger mesh net ( which did split their tails) and went to a small mesh net ( which doesn’t split their tails) for halibut that are close to legal size without gaffing them. The small mesh net doesn’t mess up their tails. I was thinking just to grab the hook with pliers while the small ones are in the water. Also I I have tried to grab them with the grippers from Rapala in the mouth and then you can remove the hook over the water with pliers. Anyway that is what I am trying to do . Again great video I learned a lot from you. Let ‘s keep the halibut fishery in great shape. I am having fun chasing them and trying to get a legal one this year.

You ever fished the “pipe” up here? The jerk shads work well on the bass species as well. Overall I think I get most bites on the paddle tails.

In the interest of clarity. The smelt and sardine colors have best for me on the pipe reef. Glow has done well also

I agree stop bringing the short one on the kayak please send a note down with the bait asking them not to bite unless they are of legal size.😂😂

All halibut all day lol. I’m still curious what they think this new penny color is.
I just made a bunch of flukes and shrimp baits in this color. I didn’t think it would work but this color clearly does.
    Cool video, nice job brotha
