I used to have the standard 1 person version and it was a really good tent, which was totally rain proof and great for low level camping, albeit it also did well in moderately windy nights.
Thank you for the demonstration. The low weight and the handlebar mount look tempting. I am used to tents that have the inner and outer combined, and found that pretty practical setting up such tents in the rain. How is that with this tent? Would lots of water get in before one puts on the rain fly, or is there a way to prevent that?
I'm glad it was helpful. That's a good question, one of the drawback with these style of tents is pitching in wet weather. It is possible 100% to pitch it outer first but it would be worth trailing it at home so you know how to do it on the hill.
I believe the poles need a "base" to go into and provide tension, which is normally provided by the inner? But there's an optional footprint that can also do that instead, so you could put down the footprint, set up the poles, cover it with the outer, then clip in the inner... The only problem is keeping the footprint dry (or drying it up after), but perhaps the outer can be laid on top to protect it while the poles are being set up?
I've been lucky enough to use its backpacking while on a trip in Scotland and got on really well with it. It certainly a 2-3 season tent rather than a solid 3 season so in really wet conditions backing up the floor with the universal footprint would be a good idea. However the construction of the tent and the fly was solid.
Hi Hugh, this tent will be continuing to use the MSR universal footprint just like the standard Hubba Hubba. I have linked it below for you! We are currently awaiting stock but it should be with us shortly. 1 Person footprint (HUBBA BP) www.tauntonleisure.com/camping-accessories/tent-footprints/msr-universal-tent-footprint--1-person__3176 2 Person footprint (HUBBA HUBBA BP) www.tauntonleisure.com/camping-accessories/tent-footprints/msr-universal-tent-footprint--2-person__3297
MSR's tent is great, but as a person who just started working, but wants to go to the grassland on weekends. The civilian tent floating cloud 2 tent is a good alternative.
Quite a bit lighter than the Hilleberg Anjan 2 I use which weighs 4 lbs. Rather than in a handlebar bag, my tent goes in a tailfin topbag on rear tailfin rack which is perfect length for the poles..
Weighs are always reported seriously wrong in all of the MSR tents. Add about half a kilo to them and it is much closer. Do not buy MSR or big Agnes tents if you think they weight is correct. It is not.
I think they only tell the weight of the tent without outer fabric or without poles or without mounting hooks or without the carrying bag? We will never know unless someone actually measure them.
The bag is nice but this iteration has the same flaws as the 2011 HP. The mesh centre ceiling just lets condensation drip in. The solid doors do not permit enough airflow in warm weather. Nice shape and space but the same old issues of other hubbas imho.
She tells about 20D for the bikepack version, I checked the NX2 and the floor is 30D indeed. Above that the inner tent is 10D for the bikepack and 20D for the NX2. The NX2 is sturdier. The mesh in the roof and sidewalls are the opposite at the 2 tents, which is strange IMO. Why would you use mesh on top because condensation on inside of the outer tent drips on top of it. A pro on the NX2 were the vent openings at head and feet, they disappeared on the bikepack and replaced with door openings where anyone can look through at night. I went for the NX2 again.
Seems a lot of tent for the weight. Nice review. I’m currently debating what is best for me. I’m both a backpacker and a motorcycle camper, potentially. This tent is somewhere in the middle 😅
I have to say the form factor of the tent is quite tempting at a backpacker. It would fit inside a hiking pack far easier than some of the longer poled models. It may even fit in motorcycle boxes.
why aren t you telling us that the floor fabric of the bikepack version is only 20D thick vs. the backpack version of the same tent is 30D. That is kind of a dealbreaker for some. You said it s 20D but that it is 10D thinner than the 30D backpackversion.
Hi, Apologies you are completely right. I have attached the correct information below. 1 PERSON - Min: 0.93kg - Packed: 1.38kg 2 PERSON - Min: 1.40kg - Packed: 1.83kg
These reported weights... Are completely misleading. It takes few seconds to put it in your kitchen counter and measure it. Packed. I guess we are talking about 1.3kg for single and about 2kg for 2P model, but we will never know, until someone manage to weight them.
Unfortunately why would you buy something from a company that doesn’t stand behind its products ? My msr tents “ most expensive on the market” fell apart and MSR wouldn’t do anything. Then my hubba NX with magical expanding threads poured water inside. Other tent companies actually stand behind their products at this price point

What a great demo! The scenery is amazing and Alex answered any questions I could’ve had about the tent!
We are so glad you liked it and we will pass this on to Alex!
Nemo dragonfly bikepack clear winner !!
I never thought bikepacking was a thing lol cool

@@tauntonleisure Thank you. I did not know the outer shell can be put on first, but that makes sense. Practicing this first does too.

Wow actually that's actually a nice all-around Tent😊
What about the performance of the tent in conditions with heavy rain? 1200 hh does not seem very trustworthy? Any experiences?

All I needed to know about this new version... Tank you very much! :)
Our pleasure. If you have any further questions let us know!
Do you stock the footprint as well?

Great video
Спасибо за видио. Красивая природа.

the weight in the video is not correct, you can look the correct weight up at websites. It is about 1,7kg for the 2 person version.
Not gonna lie I might get this one over the regular 2 person tent haha. I like the color more and it seems to pack smaller too!
The pack size if definitely more convenient if you intent to keep the tent in your pack rather than on the outside!

Noticed that too. Any bike pack tent you recommend? Nemo dragonfly 2p is too small for two people with wide pads. Big Agnes Tiger 3p?

How tall is Alex? So we can compare size of the tent
Alex is roughly 5"6

You can always use the footprint
@pasequale100 - thank you for the info 👍
mate i think you didn’t watch the whole video look at 3:38 she tell us all about the floor being 20D
❤❤❤❤
Sleep with your rain gear on @ 1200 hh in the UK
Note she quoted the 'minimum weight'. The packed weight is 1.7Kgs still reasonable weight for what will be a fairly robust tent.
