  • Leaving Seatle, Ketchikan is the first stop on an Inside Passage Alaskan Cruise. There is no better cruise leaving the Continental United States. There were many options for excursions, but the opportunity to see the Tatoosh Islands from a kayak was something my group could not pass on! Hands down one of the coolest excursions I've ever done. The water was very calm, and nobody got seasick! Unfortunately, no whales were in the area that day. Baby whales, particularly humpback whales, are often seen in Ketchikan from May to September. This period coincides with the whales' migration to Alaska's warmer waters for feeding. The abundance of food like krill, plankton and small fish in these waters supports the growth and development of the young whales. July is the peak of the season and should increase your chances. We did see a mink, some starfish, ravens, a ton of bald eagles, and some of the most ruggedly beautiful shoreline in the world! It came so highly recommended that the owner of Travel & Cruise Desk (Jamie Anderson) came with us! Jamie is one of the nicest guys you would ever hope to meet and my personal go to for any and all travel needs. This trip, and many others including multiple large weddings with people coming together from all over the world was coordinated and made possible by Travel & Cruise Desk. I can't recommend them enough. They're the best! travelcruisede...
Later on, this trip we did see a lot of Orca, and Humpback Whales. They will be in future videos!
