Well DB, I've been watching you for a long long time, but just felt compelled to comment. I really got a lot out of this lesson, and frankly have been binge watching your channel on a couple of others as of late. Somehow, in my mid 50s, I'm really breaking down those walls that were up and making sense of things thanks to your excellent way of communicating. You're by far and away my favorite, and it's the humility that stands out most for me, and it's so lacking these days. You're so unassuming, and genuine... and then you play and you never miss a note or a beat, and you're just smooth as silk. Thanks again, and keep up the great work and keep Taming That Beast. You're certainly doing a lot for my life and playing. Cheers from Toronto. ☮️🤘 Ps, I did a spit take on your "get a q-tip" line!
Would it also be in the chorus of Synchronicity II? Around the "from a dark Scottish lock'" part? Also in Spanish songs like Maleguena? Great lesson. Once again. Thank you. Cheers.
Thank you! Yep, any time you hear/see that minor (i) chord moving to the major (V) chord - it's hinting at Harmonic Minor. Sometimes it's just a second or two, sometimes it's the entire song. Thanks again and ROCK ON! : )
Dave, thanks for all your great and extremely valuable lessons. And congrats to 100 k subs - well deserved! Please never stop creating content - I could listen to you teach for years ❤
Great follow up to the first two lessons definitely some unusual tonalities with the diminished and augmented cords putting the scale on the A string to reveal the harmonizing notes was a great way to see that thanks David for this looking forward to the follow up 🤘
Love this lesson. Thank you. Whenever you see two major chords together in a song a half step apart, probably harmonic minor. Wearing the rush shirt I thought you would mention xanadu.🤘
This is just great Dave. I guess what I find a litle confusing is - when looking at the scale and resulting built triads - is the second always diminished, the third augmented and the 7th diminished?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING HOW TO BUILD THESE CHORDS DIATONICALY I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY 🤘🤘✌️🖖 please do this with lydian next... You're the best Sir
Your channel is a smörgåsbord 😅 of great content. I have always gravitated towards this tonality. Propably Yngwies fault, ha ha. Big thanks from Sweden!
For this lesson, I really expected you to wear either a Rainbow t-shirt, an Yngwie T-shirt or an Uli-era Scorpions T-shirt ! :) (The only usage by Rush of harmonic minor I can think of is the guitar solo in _YYZ_). OK, sartorial judgement session over. Great lesson!!

There is no secret that you need a scalloped fretboard Strat to play awesome Harmonic Minors scale sequences and arpeggios! ;-)
