Thank you Aaron for posting this - I rarely ever saw Erik’s shows start to finish ( too late, too hot, too smelly, too loud for us old heads), and rarely agreed with his politics, but as his mother I always adored him, his genuine sweetness and authenticity. That raw talent as a musician and a wordsmith made me proud to call him my son. We all miss him terribly.
I was fortunate enough to play a show with your son (we begged the venue because these guys were heroes to us) and see his band two more times after that. I was a fan the very first time I heard MB. And the Orphans. The most humble down to earth musician I've been lucky enough to see play let alone play with. He's very much missed in Detroit. Thank you.
I am so sorry.
I was very moved by the lyrics and emotion in his songs. He was such a talented musician.
You gave us a treasure. His music got me through some rough times.
I never met him but his music has helped me out alot and is awesomesauce. He is a kindred soul I'm sorry for your loss much love from south Mississippi 😊🤗
It breaks my heart to hear this, but never forget that he lives on in your hearts and the people (like myself) who have found such a profound connection to his music. A true talent like him comes around only so often. May he rest in peace.
I saw them play in Berkeley a long time ago. Erik was at the merch table afterwords and another band was playing loudly. I tried to yell at him how much I loved his music but he couldn't hear me. After a few tries of yelling he just shook his head and hugged me. He got the message. Like 6 years or something later I saw them in Santa Cruz. I told him I saw the Berkeley show and he was like fuck yes dude and hugged me again. He was such an amazing human being. Erik you touched so many people in this world you muthafucka. I'm gonna hug you again in outer space sometime
Glad I was privileged to have seen his solo shows and Mischief Brew probably 10x cuz they always played all over Philly. RIP Erik, you are deeply missed

RIP Legend. I will play your songs til the day I die. Never really appreciated his guitar chops till I started watching live vids, Erik was the whole package.
he was no slouch
Ah memories. I was at this show back when I was tearing my hair out as an undergrad engineering trying to get my life back together. I was the jerk with the fire shooting top hat at the end. I miss Eriks' music so much and wish he was still with us.
This made my whole week. RIP Erik (PunxWin)
Erik you will always be my favorite singer songwriter guitar playing hero. You've put your mark on all our hearts
Thanks for posting this, I just stumbled into Mischief Brew in the last year or two. Yes, I'm a bit late to the party. This guy was brilliant, it is a shame he left us so early.
remember seeing him and a band called bafabuguia? at the Another Breath house in oswego NY in the garage then we all went down to lake Ontario for a bon fire and hung out drinking beers talking shit having sing alongs and a good ol roudy time. one of the fondest memories of my adult youth.
Never got to meet him, but his style, energy, and big heart that came through in his lyrics really spoke to me as a young Mormon growing up with differing ideas. I've been revisiting the band lately and stumbled across this - I also identify as a bird. RIP Erik
And at the end of the show, I am just sad he is gone...
I love you Erik. Your music changed me, and made me pick up a guitar years ago, I still appreciate that every day. Your music will live on through all of our instruments and voices.
Its cool being able to see how he played guitar on these songs rip erik.
Eternal love to the performer and respect to the person working the sound.
Thanx Aaron. Didn't 👀 Eric play. I'm from the main line. So, I shoulda.
This is a gem
Oh this made my busy work day go smoooooothly! Thank you!

This crowd is super nerdy. Yelling demands to a legend. God I miss this man and how he took performances to another level. Rest easy Erik
if anything ur nerdy for saying this lmao. you can clearly see erik had fun doing requests, and im sure he wouldnt have wanted people treating him like an untouchable god that u cant even ask to play something
its literally the same as asking your friend to play a song, its just at a show
He asked for requests in the beginning because he didn’t have a setlist
Far more concerned with the insane amounts of people talking louder then he's singing.
I can't even
Fuck yeah!!! Homie said he was from Baltimore!!!
the boy with the wrecked voice sounded like stza
