Yesterday for the first time I run out of vram on RTX 4080 at 1440p while building custom map in unreal engine 5 game. Imagine having 12. Fortunately, unreal engine 5 dumps only non-demanding data into system memory so the game still performed well but the disappearing textures... XD
Get the quadro man. Rtx is for gaming only not for developing games
Quadro equivalent of the RTX 4080 is $6,999 and it have leaf blower cooler. Honestly, I'd just rather just get 4090. Anyway, switching textures from Epic to High cut the vram usage in half without any drop in textures quality so the Epic textures were just probably mipmaps, you know the texture quality that are far, far in the distance and you can't even see them until you get there.

@@rayraydente1712 I did development. I've worked on cryengine and unreal and I have assets on unreal marketplace. You never needed a quadro to make games. Are you supposed to optimize for the small minority that actually use quadros for gaming?

3 days ago I bought the GRE (model sapphire pure) and it performs very good with good temps. Basically you get 4070 ti performance at much lower price, and of course in rt amd loses because they are one generation behind in rt.
dont forget enabe fast timings and oc vram. this card rly sensitive to that.
@@VanyaYlianov yes i mean depends on your luck too. Not every model is the same. One can push easily 2500 oc to vram, but other can push only 2400 for example. Mine at the moment is at 2350.

Nvidia ray tracing is good until you run out of vram.
If only you use it for gaming
the thing is that rt isn't the only good thing about the 4070ti. dlss is leagues better than fsr, nvidia has far superior software support for productivity related works. nvidia has better feature sets and it's better for streaming and recording. and finally, the 4070ti is more power efficient. the only advantage of the 7900gre is really only the extra 4 gigs of vram it has.
Apart of ray tracing + DLSS superiority + Tripple screen performance + VR support and performance + up to date drivers support
ofc it is. You can get 60fps almost in any title without fsr at 1440p like by dropping 1-2 settings down. Theres literally no reason to pay 200$ nvidia premium here anymore. Espesically if you play a lot of fps games where dlss and rt isnt used at all.

Bro the Rx 7900 gre card is not overclocked in any games, because the Memory frequency were stucked at 2238mhz, please don't use false.
Mine for example is at 2350, could push it more but not really need it.
yeah I think hes just unlocked the power, which defo benefits it but you can gain up to 15% perf boost by ocing memory and unlocking the power limit
i just bought 7900 gre few day ago but i definitely have to say there's nothing complain about performance, if no one here don't care about raytracing then it deserved to buy.

Who actually uses ray tracing? It destroys your fps on *any* card and causes so much latency for effects that could be made with other technologies. (The "new" Horizon doesn't have ray tracing and it looks phenomenal)

doesnt look like he changed the memory clock from default, I think hes just added 15% to its power draw which helps it unlock its potential. if he hasnt oc'd memory, there could be a few more % of perf on the table. hardware unboxed/daniel owen go into this quite well

@@Respbury luckily I dont need to worry about this . Coz I'll be buying PS5 Pro this year and then Xbox X2 in 2026. Wont need to deal with all the PC gaming issues, troubleshooting , tinkering , bad optimization etc etc etc.
If you want to just Press and Play. Console is the best thing. And it so cheap that I can buy new consoles every 3 years. Sell my old one for 200+ , add £300 and get a new one. And have best gaming experience on sofa with 65inch 120hz TV.

4070 super oc is close to 7900 gre too
the gpu isnt even properly oc'd. the memory is even below spec at 2225mhz, you can easily get 2500mhz on the memory and get decent fps boost without any efficiency loss really

That's not the point, is to show 7900gre raster potential comparing a usual 4070ti which cost more, and no, 4070super doesn't increase as 7900gre does, cuz 7900gre is limited by default by AMD, 4070 super never win over 4070ti, but 7900gre does in some cases in raster fps when oc.

Starfield isn't using full TDP. Draws only 220 Watt on my OC'd 4080 where other games can pull 360 Watt. My guess is if you put RT into starfield only GPU and CPU power draw will increase, and FPS impact would be minimal.

Just to put in perspective how much of a scam RT is, even on Nvidia GPUs:
Alan Wake 2: 35% FPS loss.
Hogwarts Legacy: 37% FPS loss.
Raytracing will be justifiable when enhanced shadows and reflections don't incur a 35+% loss in FPS as it currently does in most games, while Cyberpunk is the outlier here.
Yeah no1’s using it except 4080-4090 users. Anything below that we don’t care about rt, only dlss. Basically native quality +30% performance boost. That’s the rtx’s true form, and we even disown RT.

Frame gen is really helpful if you want to push development over the limits of current hardware. It literally doubles your FPS in CPU, GPU limited scenarios where other way you would need to wait 4-5 years for next generation hardware to achieve the same results without it.
