They do have writers, but they also tend to write their own rap verses. YG is notorious for not crediting their female artists with writing credits, so we often have to rely on the girls themselves to let the fans know which songs they had a hand in writing. But a very large portion of the rap verses are written by Jennie and Lisa. The only time they have a large amount of control over everything is when they do solo works. But as Blackpink gets more and more famous and successful, they have slowly gained more control over the entire process. The girls had a large amount of input into the music video as well. Each of them came up with ideas for their individual scenes. Obviously they have designers to build them, but it’s based on input from the girls. Their early music and videos were mostly done by the company, but since the girls proved over time that their ideas are successful, they have gotten a lot more artistic freedom.

FYI the girls are also creative directors of their own projects from the ground up along with their team. Its in the credits of the album. Only fans would know this because they are the one that buy the album. And i have the latest Born Pink album myself. 😂 they are like the busiest artist in the world out right now with world tours, crazy amount of flying around the world focusing on global fashion endorsements, brands, acting, photoshoots, video shoots solo activities. They are literally wat seems like they are at the airport every 3 days or week. Its almost always been like this for them. All this in the middle of their Born Pink world tour that is still going on.

BlackPink and BabyMonsters are from the same agency YGE. BlackPink is considered their big sisters. A few of the members of BlackPink have mentored BabyMonsters on a few occasions.
BlackPink has the most UA-cam subscribers of any musical act. They have six videos with over a billion views. And they headlined Coachella last month. They'll be performing in US Stadiums in August.

You're exactly right, They don't write the lyrics. They have an entire team behind them. They are performers. In American Football, most quarterbacks don't call their own play. They have coaches who do that. But the quarterbacks still have to perform under a lot of pressure. Give performers their dues. In Kpop, there are hundreds of groups competing for the same audience. Performers still have to stand out and BlackPink along with BTS are standing out heads and shoulders above all others.
Right! No one goes up to concert pianist in a symphony orchestra and asks him " Did you write that?"

Levels to what? Artistic level? We’re talking pop music. As performers in pop, you’re job is to be popular. There is no other level for BlackPink to reach when you’ve already reached the top. Back to football. A quarterback’s job is to win a game. Joe Montana rarely called his own plays but yet won four Super Bowls. Is there another level beyond that?
If you’re saying they can also be writers or producers or be more active in the creative side, then you’re asking them to be more than performers. Kudos to those that are more than performers. But judge BlackPink for who they are and how well they do it. Not judge them for who they’re not.
It’s like judging Joe Montana for not being more than just a quarterback who does what he’s told.

the reason you get mentions of Blackpink on your Babymonster reactions is because they are both from YG Entertainment. Blackpink being Babymonster's seniors, and in a couple occasions the members of Blackpink have mentored Babymonster members on their training (in kpop, trainees practice for years before debuting).
You might even get more artists from YGE recommended because YGE is a label with their roots in hiphop. The founder and executive producer (known also as YG) was a rapper and in the early days hiphop was the focus of the label. Eventually they branched out and focus a bit more in pop and edm on their songs, but you can still clearly see the hiphop influences on them.
Occasianlly they had released songs where multiple artists of the label collab as a mega group, they did that under the name YG Family (which is the name used to mention any artist, dance, actor, model, staff and even fans related with the label).
if you want to see a little of what i mean you can check "YG Family - HipHop Gentleman" (one of the rapper in that song is Teddy Park which is Blackpink's producer and was a rapper in YGE who later become a in-house producer for them).
To be clear, im not saying they are the only artists that has hiphop as their background,far from that, other artists also do it, my point is that YGE is considered a hiphop power house in kpop and usually when a rapper is from YG, the expectations are high.
Considering that this is your thing, that is also a reason why you might get recommended artists from said label, and BP being the biggest nowadays, it is natural that you get them recommended.

Yes, Blackpink is the biggest music artist in the world atm (for example: no music artist has more subscribers on UA-cam). "Shut Down" is not the best entry point into Blackpink because of all the references to their older songs and MVs that are lost on you. "Pink Venom" might be better suited for you as entry point. I would be curious if you catch all Hip Hop references in that one. ;) How much K-Pop idols are involved into writing, composing or producing their songs is different from song to song and group to group. Usually rappers are more likely to write their raps themselves. During their trainee years K-Pop idols have to prepare everything for themselves for their monthly evaluations. So K-Pop idols are more skilled in singing, dancing, rapping, performing, writing or styling than the average western artist. But of course. These multi million dollar productions are usually a collaborative effort, which doesn't automatically mean less passion for music. Blackpink has one (legendary) producer behind them, that produced most of their songs, but the four girls have writing credits on some songs and are involved in the creative process to varying degrees. If you want to get a better sense on how K-Pop works and is produced: I highly recommend "Light Up The Sky" (their official documentation, available on Netflix). Great for Patreon as reaction and great introduction not only to Blackpink but also into how K-Pop works.

Ignore anyone that says YG didn't credit them for their lyrics or rap verses. They prefer to live in their own dream world. The members do write their own lyrics and rap verses. But not everything goes into the songs. They also make their own choreography at times aswell as other creative sections of the M/V making and song making. YG is famous for crediting and paying their artists fairly and more than any other kpop agency also they make it a female only thing. These new stans prefer to make Blackpink victim of a company and try to make the label look bad. Instead I prefer to say Blackpink is a team of 5 people Blackpink members and Teddy. Watch their old netflix documentary(2020 release) for more details on how they work as a team and behind the scenes in studio etc.

You should check out "Volkno" by Treasure. It's written & produced by one of the members, the leader of the group, Hyunsuk. Treasure is a 10 member kpop group but this particular song is only the 3 rappers from the group. They're also under YG.

actually yg didn’t let them to make thier own music even they wrote rap verse or some lyrics but they didn’t gave them credit since 2020 they let them abit to participate in writing lyrics of thier songs …. like jennie, rose , jisoo , lisa has too but they didn’t give her credit before that ….. for songs like lovesick girls, yeh yeh yeh ….. and some more but they have 2 combacks i hope in the future they let them more …. even they have songs still didn’t publish by yg ….. this is something that really have to change about yg they already participate in thier mv ideas sets some stuff like that …. they are talented for sure even in preparation of thier solos ….. you can check out born pink album and the album ….. du du du a lot of stuff

Shutdown is the Title Track and Pink Venom is a pre release song. I like Pink venom more but it is what it is.

Likewise I have been a fan of Blackpink since their debut and I can assure you that Pink Venom is not a B-side but a Pre Release single out of the album but never the title track. As stated by YG they put more budget into shutdown than Pink Venom but which doesn't feel like it. But when a group/artist/label mentions a track as a title track it is officially the only title track. Blackpink themselves mentioned why they choose shutdown as a title track. So I'll go with the pink's decision to make it the title track and it's same for all the blinks. If you consider it a title track song that would be only your opinion and respectfully as a fellow blink do not spread misinformation based on personal opinions. Also I have seen that you are not subscribed to Blackpink's channel and only Jennie's channel and BM's channel.

If I understood you correctly you know Babymonster but not BlackPink? Seems backwards to me but OK. Both groups are from the same company, YG Entertainment. They both went through the same years of training there before debut. If you view all of the Babymonster Evaluations Series videos you will see that both Jennie and Lisa mentor their younger sisters in that process.
Coincidentally the final selection of which of the 7 Babymonsters members that will be chosen to debut is TODAY, and they are scheduled to debut 6/1. There is some question whether all 7 members will debut or only 5.
I hadn't heard of either of them until last week. BABYMONSTER was what showed up first on my recommended page, haha blame UA-cam.
@@TheRapSheet I always have a hard time understanding how someone hasnt heard of BlackPink. They are currently wrapping up a world concert tour with over 40 performances globally and now kicking off a N American encore tour. Something like 6 of their songs have view counts in the Billions.
UA-cam likely recommended Babymonster because they are currently getting millions of views. Just know that is largely because of the success of BlackPink. Effectively YG is creating the next gen of BlackPink and everyone is in high anticipation. Watch the BaeMon Last Evaluation series videos for a) awesome performances, b) to get an idea what both groups went through training for debut.
The Pinks perform many musical genres but if you are just mainly into rap your next reaction should be "Tally"
I usually stay away from most commercial mainstream music so that could be one reason. A few of my friends were shocked I'd never heard of them either. Hey, I know now though ✌️

It's not about mainstream music, they are so big that it's hard to understand how any music reactor hasn't heard of them. They are the Spice Girls, Destiny Child, Supremes, etc. of this generation. @@apollo311 Your comment isn't though entirely true. Yes YG is still keeping them on a tight leash when its comes down to music but they have participated in the writing process of many songs. They were also heavily involved in the process of their solo music and as for their "image" they do a lot of the styling and have creating control over their stages and videos. Even Ryan Tedder said that he worked with Rosé and Jennie on writing and producing music and they both knew what to do. They have all those skills.
