- This video describes the method I use for washing my resin prints using LOW-COST items for your resin printer. This method uses an aquarium power head with air intake to generate bubbles that agitate the 3D print to remove the excess resin.

Hi! It's not an air pump, it is called an aquarium power head. These were used with under gravel filers years ago, but that style filter has fallen out of favor with modern aquarists. These days they are mainly used for water circulation within the tank and various utility usages. The air intake/mixer is called a venturi.
Thanks! You seem quite knowledgeable on the subject I appreciate the help it will help with my search terms
@@und3rscore_41 No problem. And yes, I have had aquariums for nearly 40 years.
Wow so you are super knowledgeable!
Wow so you are super knowledgeable!
Just made one of these, and i gotta say, nothing compares so far!
I used a small compressor i had lying around and just coiled up some hose with zipties, cut a bunch of small holes in it. put it at the bottom of the tank.
It costs less, works better than the commercial one and you can scale up the size easily. I do have one suggestion. You can use a container that has a seal so the IPA does not evaporate quickly.
bro what was your set up, i have no idea how to make this
Great idea! I already have all the parts from the original "cooling" system they send with laser cutters. Thanks so much for saving me a fortune!!!
whoa great idea i have a couple aquarium pumps lying around!
this is even better than the magnetic mixer , can i just go to Aquarium store and by any pump?
Good idea, but is there a risk of fire? I just don't know whether placing electricity and a flammable liquid together is a safe thing to do?
There are aquarium airpump that uses electro magnet (no motor sparks risk).
Brilliant! Cheers from Cali!
Can you provide the link for the air pump??
Pero no tienes problema con los residuos que queden en las aletas de la bomba?
Which pump did you use?
Improvise adapt overcome
Yep! It works really well too! :D
Bro whats the exact air pump you used in the video?
wouldn't the resin clog up the pump? causing it to over heat and...... just concerned...
Nope, haven't had a clog with the pump eversince!
doesn´t this make the IPA evaporate like hell?
it does
run it with the lid on?
Typically even with the pre-made wash stations, you rinse your parts with the lid off, and when you are done replace the lid. You shouldn't be washing your prints for more than maybe a few minutes! :)
Re use your IPA by letting rest it in a container for two weeks in a place where the sun hits it then extract it carefully, you can at least use it for a second wash.
Hello I am new to resin printing and I am not sure if I should buy a cure and wash station or just do "diy" both. Do you still recommend this? Also do you have any new tips while doing this. Thank you.
if you have the budget, go for the premade wash and cure. You also but convenience with it.
This DIY method is great for larger prints as you can fit everything in one go.
If I was washing with IPA, I would want something that's enclosed to lessen the fumes. I use WW so this would work great for me.
Better, option. Use a "Salad Spinner"
Until the resin accumulates in the propeller of the pump?
Not a very good idea :/ ive kept fish for years, pumps like that fail often. One short and that things going up in flames. The IPA will mess with the seals on the pump too...
You are referring to DC brushed motors w/c can cause sparks if those brushes ever fail or short out.
Most aquarium pumps (well at least the ones here) use electromagnet w/c eliminates that risk factor.
