    Now this is how to make a video. It got straight to the point. It was not self-indulgent as the focus was on the content, not the presenter’s face.
    Nice simple technique too. No need to buy overpriced clear ice makers. The guy who made this video would be good company.

    How to make crystal clear ice.
    Step 1: fill cooler with water.
    Step 2: empty your freezer to make room for cooler
    Step 3: Wife finds out you threw away all the frozen food, and hopelessly yell at you for hours.
    .
    .
    .
    Last step: enjoy your beverage alone, and look at the camera w/ a hollow smile. Because you realize your wife finally left you for good when she got tired of restocking the freezer whenever you have an urge to make fancy ice.
    just kidding, love your videos ; )

    For huge ice balls for scotch - the real simple extention of this method is to use tall insulated stainless steel coffee mug. The difficult part to find one with straight neck.
    Fill it with water, put in a freezer. Wait a day. Turn over and gently tap over the sink. The top 1/3 - 1/2 will slide out as single block of clear ice. The only trick is not too wait too long - you don't want more than top 1/2 frozen

    Love it love it. My favorite is a Black Manhattan.... yum!!! I also add a 1/2 oz of the juice from the black cherries (my own personal touch). With the orange bitters and angostura bitters, rye whiskey and averna. Best drink!!

    Doesn't the large portions of ice become a block in the face while shooting that last sip?

    Nicely done. I use a similar technique for the sphere's but I use an insulated travel mug like you'd use for coffee. It's insulated all on it's own so I can just set it in the freezer by itself (without having to drop it in a cooler full of water.) Self contained directional freezing and I don't have to mess up the nice, big ice block in my cooler! (I can also churn them out much quicker than the 2 days I set my cooler in the freezer for.)

    Before this Covid craze, I would always make drinks for my friends with the “nice ice” that I learned from this video. They always though I had bought the ice and were pleased to find out I would make it. It made their experience that much better.

    how do i make cloudy ice? i only have clear ice :s

    • @GewoonGamings
      @GewoonGamings 8 років тому

      +DeathlyDiJ It's actually a different concept, ice is transparant, when light enters 1 small ice cube i just goes through and the ice cube stays transparant. When light enters 1 ice cube next to lots of ice cubes the light goes in in a different angle and doesnt go through but keeps on reflecting through all ice cubes, and in the reverse prism of light, the colour is white. that's also the reason why a cube is more clear than a ball as a ball reflects differently.

    • @GewoonGamings
      @GewoonGamings 8 років тому

      +DeathlyDiJ just google one ice cube, and then after more ice cubes, youll see the difference

      I believe it depends on water. It's possible to be unable to do cloudy ice if water is demineralised.

  • @Ravenspawn2000

    Just tried this yesterday. but I just did a little cut on the top end of the ice block, so the ice kept splitting up uneven.
    But I used a knife with a uneven blade and a tiny hammer, so I will have to upgrade those to something better for my next attempt.
    I did end up with 2 bags full of beautiful clear random shaped ice cubes. It is quite fun and the ice looks so much cooler then that old dull cloudy ice cubes you get.
