_Dyson Sphere is actually amazing. The scale up to galaxy-level is incredible._
i can agree with this statement
AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
DSP is my favorite.
I loved it too. But I really don't like that to make a decent dyson sphere or swarm you need A LOT of resources, and after you make it there isn't really much else to do. I know it's early access but I would love if they changed this aspect a bit.
@@saiken923 _Have you seen the latest update, the incoming enemy? That's going to add another level of complexity onto it. I'm looking forward to it._
Great showcase. For the past 10 years I've been a FPS junkie (COD, Borderlands, etc.) but after discovering Factorial last year, all I play is factory games now. COI and Timberborn are my current favs. Cheers.
You can do a lot worse than a good factory builder! Welcome to the club :)
you should look into satisfactory. Its the best of both worlds. I also rarely saw games that are that engaged with the community.
Glad to see Factory Town mentioned. That game deserves to be played by everyone who enjoys factory builder games. It is great.
Dyson Sphere Program is one of my favorite games. I have over 3000+ hours into that game. Timberborn is awesome too, love the newest additions to the game. Can’t wait for them to add more tech and late game items.
3K hrs? wtf?
3000hrs!?!?! I may need to check this game out, or not and keep my wife and job...
the combat system will be soon up, for now the game is amazing but for me it ll be really the best by far once the combat system is up =D until then I defo recommand mindustry, very satisfying, easy to pick up,can be played with friendsm fun, can be very challenging, and theres mods so almost unlimited possiblities
any tips for getting past the planetary scale part of the game? i got past it once and it was amazing, but like factorio chemical science it's so much grinding to get to it. with factorio i just make the part i enjoy harder and longer and the part i dont like easier and shorter, but with dsp i don't get that luxary.
This video is a gem. So many amazing factory / automation games in the works.
Truly, hard to believe there are so many good ones just under the radar!
I did not know about Vectorio, and I've been loving it! Two days of fun :)) Had to return to the video to thank you. So, thank you!
Great video. I'm more of a tycoon than a factory building/automation game fan, but I enjoy the crossover games such as Sweet Transit and Workers & Resources. One you missed, which is still my favourite, is Voxel Tycoon. It is still in active (but slow) development and a big update that will overhaul the rail/road construction is in the works and should be released before the end of the year.
Yes!! I've been waiting for the next update for ages. I've played loads of Voxel Tycoon and can't wait to return. That's a big miss from this list. Thanks for reminding me!
I love your content keep it up 👍 I’ve been watching your factorio videos and there the best ones out there covering mods and vanilla alike truly one of a kind your a legend
I appreciate that! Hope you continue to find stuff you enjoy
Thank you for mentioning my game ! ("Cyber factories").
And sorry for not giving any news about the development, the Steam demo hasn't been updated since 1 year.
But I'm going to release the "full game" this 5 november (and I'm also going to change the name of the game)
Cyber factories is great! I really enjoyed my time with it
Really dig the informative & curated game list, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed! Hope it was helpful :)
Great video, man! Earned a sub :)
Dyson sphere is absolutely phenomenal, I never thought that there would be another automation game that could get me this addicted to spaghetti conveyors other than Satisfactory and factorio 10/10 would spaghetti again
Right!? It's just so good!!
The most amazing thing is that there are so many of these now. I love this genre more than I love cake and I love cake.
They sure are a breath of fresh air after getting burned out from all the online shooters these days. Keeping a bunch of screaming teenagers in line gets old REALLY fast :p
Potion pipeline looks extremely similar to the game 'Shapez". Definitely recommend it while you wait for Potion pipeline to come out.
as a factorio addict i can say that i think it is from manyy and many other automation games took thier concepts from it is like a pioneer of this genre
One automation game I'm keeping my eye on is Lifecraft. It seems to be an automation game taking place on a cellular level. Definitely a unique concept!
For sure! I'll check it out
Great video. An addition from me, technically, Per Aspera is also an automaton/logistic game, but it's already a full game with two DLCs. I just thought to mention it here.
Good call, a good fun game too!
Dyson Sphere is a 10/10. I have played satisfactory and factroio, but this is my favourite automation game by a mile.
for the second list : Autonauts, Kubifactorium, voxel tycoon and per aspera.
great video that made me discover 2-3 game i will definitely try. Thanks
Good vid,I dont think ur missing one game like that =D Big fan of mindustry here, I almost own all of those games and for me who like a litle bit of fighting in thoses games, Dyson Sphere , once the combat system will be up (soon here according to devs on steam) , it ll be so far ahead, it ll be hard for other devs to compete in this field
Dyson Sphere Program is absolutely great for a early access game made by a 6(or7?)-people team; bugs are barely noticeable and optimization is very good. Yes, it's like a 3-D factorio with its own special space fantasy settings.
i have a weird obsession for automation and factory games, thank u for feeding it, the Dyson sphere one looks very fun and factory magnate. I also have an obsession with railways and that kind of supplying sooooooooooo, rail grade i will consider
Dyson Sphere is AMAZING. Genuine full recommendation from me
@@orbitalpotato ill check it out
You missed "Shapez" :) Great Video. Thx for new games ideas
This is a great list, well done =) I think I've just doubled my game 'pile of shame' lol
Hope you enjoy!!
awesome as always
new type of game discovered:
no man's satisfactorio
space explorer style game with satistfactory building and factorio levels of modding support and complexity. very hard to reach, but i'd love anything within that subgenre of a subgenre
I would like to recommend Rail Route, one of the games that you may have missed. Rail route is amazing and fun to play especially for those who love automation games very much. Please go and check it out. I have been playing for so many hours now.
Hello Orbital Potato, I have a couple suggestions to give since I follow this genre constantly.
Craftopia (Seamless World Update)
FortressCraft Evolved Sequel (dev said they are working on it)
Hostile Mars
Time to Morp
The Last World
Lifecraft
Total Factory
The Riftbreaker (Co-op Update)
King of the Dwarves: Underground City
Hexoplanet
Blue Energy
Factori
Stoked about the next FCE! I still can't believe it's not more popular.
I don't think many know about this game but
Sandship
A newish factory game by rockbite studios
Check it out it's a mobile free to play online (unfortunately)game
Fortresscraft Evolved is one of the best games of all time!
Sincerely thanks for these GREAT suggestions. I'll keep an eye on them and check them out as they come out!!!!!!
thanks. may i add :
Autonauts
Kubifactorium
voxel tycoon
per aspera
I would add kubifaktorium to the list, it's more a mix of settlers and automation, but very nice to play IMO!
There is mindustry as well, its set more as a tower defense kind of game, but its pretty fun and free on mobile
Factorio coming to switch next month and I can't wait to loose days of my life optimising my factory no matter where I go
There is no greater goal!
Really love Mindustry so much. Still cant believe how cheap that game was vs the hours i played. Always with a friends as he does the defending and i make the factory and armies. Still hoping that Dyson Sphere will get coop soon :)
Kinda sad a lot of the games that weren’t released when you made this video are still not out. Crops and Conveyors isn’t out, but it looks so good!
Dyson Sphere, Satisfactory, Mindustry, Factorio!
Dude awesome video! I thought I had all the factory/automation games on my radar but I will need to take my time and unpack this video. Dyson Sphere and Satisfactory are both sick. I also like Evopsace, have you played that one?
Not played evospace, but defo on the radar. Good luck digging into all the factory goodness!!
There's an automation game called "Roody:2D" on itchio that I've been thoroughly enjoying lately. It's still very early in development, but the core concept of a 2D platformer automation game, where instead of just feeding items into a machine and having it spit out the product; you have to actually make a machine (with pistons, wiring, logic, the lot) that arranges the components into specific configurations so they can be combined into a new component, similar to a minecraft crafting grid but with physical blocks.
I'm really excited to see how the development turns out, it's scratching an automation itch that I never knew I had :^) I keep trying to make my machines more compact or efficient and it's strangely addictive.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Dyson Sphere is easily the best money I’ve spent on a game since Cities Skylines. Just get it.
Perfekt video , really ;). 3 new factory games on my list now ;).
i am really looking forward to the factorio dlc
Thanks for watching! Glad you got something from it
Talking about Dyson Sphere Program - there's going to be a big update I believe next year introducing an enemy.. so not only will you have to manage your base and resources... you'll also have to fight them back and defend your planets. Factorio *in space*!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE COMBAT UPDATE!!!!!
@@orbitalpotato FYI: You. Must. Wait. 😐
Very good list of games.
Glad you think so!
Since transport fever is mentioned, then railway empire is definetaly also worth a mention.
Good call!
Great video!
Great edit!
Astro Colony looks really good!
A-train would’ve been for you! A old school train sims with city building elements, great review. 👍
Thanks for the suggestion!
@@orbitalpotato welcome
I love Transport fever 2 and Satisfactory over 1000 hours of playtime combined.
Should have also mentioned FortressCraft Evolved, it's like Minecraft and Satisfactory had a baby.
It’s hard to know what to play because according to you EVERYTHING is the best one.
Great video! Please add the release platforms. Factorio is coming to the switch! And Railgrade was released last week on switch.🎉
Love this suggestion, will try that going forward!
Im addicted to Factorio. I add the Space Exploration mod which added months more of playtime. Helps with my borderline ADHD. Lol.
I'm playing the railgrade game, and I want the Factorio game too, I only have a switch, so I have to wait for the Factorio game to release later this month.
Factorio will blow your mind, it's great!
The roads in the footage of that soviet republic game were horrific.
Foundry updated to release on Steam EA on Oct 3rd
Vectorio is a very good ftp game. I've done many on your list. that one was new to me. thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice video!
Thanks!
Can you make to separate list please for city building/ colony sim and another one for rts! You are amazing 👏
Yes I can, expect it soon!!
Mindustry even gives a github link to the source code and it looks like not only is there constant work still being done (the last commit was only 4 hours ago as of writing this) the developer is adding a second planet seemingly representing the same level of content again as the existing game. The game also seems to have support for android and iOS (though it is much bigger than half the stuff you get on the app store). If you don't want to wait for the steam release, you can build the development version. If you want to modify it and know a bit of Java, it is open-source.
Yes it is technically free (hell its open-source) but given any money made from this game is likely going straight back into developing it (and its like $10US), you would probably be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't pay for it.
Straight from discord checking it out!
Thanks! Hope you find it useful/enjoy
One you missed, Airborne Kingdom. Floating city, that needs to be optimised especially with the new DLC into the frozen wastelands.
Good point, I'm not sure that *strictly* counts as an automation game (more a city builder imo) but appreciate the shout out for a great great game!
@@orbitalpotato Yep the line from automation to city builder is a fine one. But since you included the Wandering City one...
Great video.
Thanks!
Satisfactory is insane, give it a shot.
One game I like which is less we’ll know as it’s also mobile is a 2d sci fi automation game with wave defence.
Foundry has a demo on Steam!
Craftomation looks really cool
It's great!
Nothing comes close to Dyson Sphere.... I wish more games of this quality was out!!
Half of the games from the Czech Republic :D :D
Railgrade has been released and is a pretty fun game
I look forward to checking it out soon!
You actually missed one: Autonauts vs Piratebots. It's the PvE sequel to Autonauts, an automation game where you build bots then teach them what you want them to do. Both are pretty cool!
I checked this one out on the channel not too long ago! It's really good but already released, so I should have put in bonus games
Worth mentioning the excellent upcoming Terra Nil for a slightly different take on these sorts of games. Basically Factorio in reverse! 😆
Totally agree! Terra Nil is glorious the sooner it's out the better
You forgot Lifecraft, an upcoming game by the indie developer Pixbits. It's currently available on itch, but they plan to bring it to steam
Thanks for the suggestion!
Workers and Resources is amazing
Truly, one of the best games
So much good games. More than i , and i feel most of people , have free time .. ps good video. Specifically for factory games , wide range , straight to the point. This video does feel like game journalism (dont know criteria for it by some serious critics or whatnot but i feel it up there) and definetely has value.
PPS You making so much videos.. I thinking , you probably expect more views . Probably. I personally just dont have that much free time :( . IRL issues. So , like , can you expect more views if you make more such videos ? Well. Probably not from me. As much as i like to give you support. Dont overwork yourself , ok < be safe out there.
I was getting worried that these games were being released by EA until I realized that (EA) == Early Access
Lmao 😂
I have two games you might wanna check out as well! Lifecraft and Supercolony!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Railgrade is out now.
Modded minecraft needs a mention, especially since it inspired factorio.
Factorio - is still the gold standard.
Some come close but even the top-down view of Factorio blows the contenders out of the water
Agree completely
Love factorio and timerborn and need to give satisfactory a try
I'll def have to check out
dyson sphere
sweet transit
good company
crops and conveyors
astro colony
transport fever
midustry
factory town
specifically, good company, sweet transit ,and transport fever have my attention lol
All great games! Best of luck
Potions Pipeline is Shapez but with fancy graphics...
We'll have to wait and see, can't wait to play it when it's out!
@@orbitalpotato No offence mate. BUT
1: It has the exact same Hub you deliever too, as seen at the end of that little trailer.
2: It has the exact same 'buildings' with the same shape and mechanics of said buildings.
3: It appears to even have the same concept when it comes to the resoruces and collection/use of said resources...
I can liturally see the exact same layouts used to combine shapez combinations in this trailer.
I agree, but that's not a bad thing. Shapez is great.
Maybe Oxygen Not Included? Anyway, list is great, thanks. I bookmarked few good titles ;-)
Stationeers. Don't know why everyone keeps missing this gem.
Added for the next list!
i only love satisfactory from this list, its kinda for me most perfect game ever created
Foundry is more like fortress craft evolved than anything. it's one of my favorites.
The only issue I have with Dyson Sphere Program is that it is not multiplayer! Me and my crew just love this game to hashbrown bits and we boast about what we did in the game whenever we spy on our friends list to see whose playing lol. Well, not all the time, but even after all of this time, the game has amazing appeal to me. I played a Satisfactory save for a few hundred hours at the time of this comment and took a break from it (will pick up the save later!) but I'm seriously thinking about picking up my Dyson Sphere game again.
It's so good! I would love multiplayer, but for now I'm happy to settle planets by myself
I didn't see; "Potatograd - The Return" nor "Potatocracy - Ultimate Wealth," listed for upcoming games.
That's because Plutocracy isn't an automation game ;)
@@orbitalpotato Perhaps Plutocracy not, but the game, "Potatocracy," is wealth automatically and exponentially acquired if you follow the in-game tutorial by Comrade Potato. :)
Would you recommend any of these for co-op (if they even support it)?
Factorio, Mindustry, and Satisfactory are excellent for co-op.
Hydroneers, Astro Colony, and Foundry have co-op but I haven't tried them.
Vectorio has co-op but it doesn't scratch the same itch for me, personally.
There's also JUNKPUNK and FortressCraft Evolved which aren't on the list. Haven't played them but feedback seems to be more mixed.
Such a good video, but you forgot "Industries of Titan" one of the most underrated games of the last year.
Great shout, totally left that one out. Unacceptable!!
Foxhole recently had an update that introduces some more industry.
U missed eco, i love that game and is a factory builder
Good call, will add for next time!
foundry has a release year on steam atm and its 2023
Can you do one of these for iOS? It’s hard to find out what’s good. Mindustry and Builderment are good to start.
I'll do my best!
23:44
Hydroneers is developed by Foulball Hangover, a UK studio, not by Erik Asmussen (the sole dev of Factory Town featured previously). You confused me big time.
Surviving Mars was pretty fun, not really sure it's a factory game.
Its only the automation part, but there is X4 : Foundations.
Good suggestion!
16:36 Nova Islands?
Potion pipeline looks like a reskin of shapes.oi they didn't even try to make it not look like a 1 to 1 copy.
not sure if automation empire and mindustry is still around.
of course mindustry is still around, it keeps getting commits every single hour
I need edutainment. What automation games teach me real life skills by playing?
Factorio forever!
Looking for Art of the rail
iCorp is missing! :)
