I was raised up as a non-Christian in baathist Iraq. The only leader I knew was Saddam Hussein. And so it never occurred to me that leadership should have any value until I came across John's book, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership". In fact, I learned the value of the very word "value" from the first law, i. e., "the Law of the Lid". I cannot thank you enough, John.
I'm finishing up my bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry and Leadership, and have a 10-12 page paper due by December 13th. I've also been given permission by the professor to use the EntreLeadership podcast as source material for this paper. This episode is definitely going to make that list!
I would love for John Maxwell to have a program just like Dave and answer leadership questions. Imagine how America’s work culture would grow and improve 😊
Thank you. This is extremely beneficial to me, knowing when and how to promote. The leadership meeting is such a great idea. I am definitely going to be implementing that with my staff.
Regarding Lillian's call, I understand the tenuous aspect of promotion in a small business. I believe the long-tenured employees who have been faithful and loyal, but may not quite fit into that leadership role would be well suited to continue to experience incentives (i.e. raises, increased PTO, improved contributions to 401k, etc) despite upward mobility within the company. Your non-senior leadership, faithful workers deserved to be recognized and rewarded.
Wow 🤩 my 2 most respected people in one video. I’m from Ukraine 🇺🇦 used to read his books 📚 in school 🏫 to learn how to be successful instead of school books 😅 moved to USA 🇺🇸 on my own when I was 18 yo. 😊
This system: I do it well, you do it with me, you do it and I'm with you - coaching, then you do it and train someone else..... Gold! I'm just a stay at home mom but my ten children are me team and this is how we train to do anything in the housework area. I train my oldest , now 14 years old, to clean the bathroom. She does it and I coach/inspect. Now she is training her younger buddy, who is my sixth child and is 7 years old. This applies to sweeping, dusting, washing dishes, preparing meals, gardening, laundry, ect.
Hey Dave. Could you do a segment on keeping emotion out of business. My hardest times in business I often find correlates with something tragic happening in my personal life and vice versa. I know you have to switch hats but when your parents or family dies or something it can be kinda hard not to feel like a piece of your soul has been taken at times.
I’m the co-owner of a printing/marketing company. I haven’t done the best job on leadership, as I have to have more congruence on my words match the action I take. My question is, I’ve been thinking that during our meetings I could play a 10 minute, leadership videos. I would honored to get Dave’s or someone in his team opinion. Has anybody tried that? Or what has worked for you to inspire your team?
can always say no.....I have many times.....been there in the past done that....rather just do the work....no joy in dealing with the "people" part of leadership
I know plenty of readers that are not anywhere close to leaders but are in prominent roles & pretend to be one. They certainly don't fool me but they have fooled lots of people & I'm sure they have big fat bank accounts. Also, some of the smartest and most respected people I know are not readers.
I disagree. I'd get fired if I wasn't essentially on the game without almost any mistakes at any business role I've had I expect that same level of perfection in my boss

Want more for the people instead of more from the people.
You do not go into leadership. You grow into leadership.
John Maxwell comes to my Alma mater every year. He never says much at all. Let’s hope this video is different! Here we go…

Being good at my job always gets a giant push toward management
But I don't like to be over others

Leaders are under their people, not over them.
Truth! 🙏

Maxwell is the Joel Osteen of business.
