Bill wants the code to that final destination. The one that Becca refused to give him (with the white light). Clark isn't the key, they think she still had the flame in her. Maddie might be because she seems to have more of the memories of the other commanders in her. Also bill wouldn't have known it was called "the flame". He just views it as the key to that final place because it has that info somewhere on it.
I definitely agree that I was a little disappointed to not get to see what's going on in the other storylines (nothing interesting has happened to Team Clarke in ages!). BUT because I know this was a backdoor pilot, I loved this episode. So many questions answered, so many new ones, I would definitely watch that prequel series.

Hhmmmmm... The 100 has NEVER been 20 something episodes. The most it's been was 16 and has been 13 episodes the past 3 seasons. Just sayin...
