GCU doesn't help with placement...it's scary & a pain doing the entire thing on one's own. I am in a post-grad traum-informed program, tho, and I love it. Off to my 1st interview for practicum today! Thanks, Claudia!! Hope y'all are safe in FLA.
@@kdcounseling Got it! I have secured a spot in a private practice til 2026!! And further if I want and it's a good fit! Dream job! Thank you so much for your videos, they helped me A LOT!!
How did you get your foot in the door at some of these places? I've been struggling to find sites/supervision because even with places that are on the list provided by my school, I have already been turned down because they are only accepting graduated registered interns. Many other places have just never gotten back to me. Any tips for reaching out and searching for a supervisor?
Hi friend, I literally googled everyone in my area. I wrote them an email and to the end added if they knew anyone or could refer me to someone. A lot of people were also not able to take me but they referred me to other people . One day I called about 35 places and emailed about the same amount. Block out a few hours out of your day and do it plus get a email template to copy and paste to everyone with your contact info.
@@kdcounseling This is such excellent advice.Searching for this position can be a temporary part-time job, kinda! Well, I look @ it like that and then I get more done.

@@GoodPennyYHWHsaves yes, you make lots of connections too. I still know most of the people that responded at that time and even refer out to them.
I’m in school but I’m frustrated the school says you need to fund your own practicum and internship and they don’t seem to do much to help you
Yeah I cold called people off google and asked if they were taking interns
Excited to see your practicum/internship journey Klaudia! How many classes did you have to take for your program?
All of them except 3 electives / 9 credit hours. Thanks for watching
@@kdcounseling sorry, I meant how many classes your program had in total 😅
@@vitorcsouza14 15 done 3 to go practicum and internship also equal credit hours and are counted as a class
