  • Exactly 60 years ago to the day, on May 25th, 1963 African leaders of the time set this day to mark the formation of the African Union as well as the continent’s achievements since colonization. They called it African Unity Day, also known as Africa day.

From Ghana: Good evening Mama Africa !
Oh, you are so wonderfully created & ,
You have the succulent breast ever.
You care for both your children & outsiders in the world, thank you !
You hold the choicest goods in your hands that is why you are envied,
But Mama, You have the most industrious children ever.
Hope & love are your names,
    Your children will overcome.

You are very right but how can we? When Africa Day is not even taught in schools. The calendar does not have it highlighted. The other African nations do not even celebrate it. Before we move forward let's ensure this first.

    Another interesting video.
I just need to point out that OAU was not "renamed" to AU. The former was dissolved and AU was established as a new organization with a new charter

I love this! Thank you again for sharing this information. I am always amazed at how little I know about Africa and how you know exactly what I want to know. I am so grateful that you decided to fill this much needed gap in world knowledge AND thrilled to hear about Africa from actual African people for a change. It’s so much fresher and truer. Thank you, thank you, thank you ... That’s really all I am trying to say.

They say Africa is made up of 54 nations I disagree Africa is infact made up of 3000 nations. Me I believe that Africa should unite on the basis of tribes rather than this so called countries that the west curved. Like I always say Africans were never invited to the berlin conference to give their views on how our borders should be divided. We need to create states based on the different cultures, languages. Just like how Asia is Chinese live in china Indian live in India the same should be done in Africa let us also live like that let the Zulu live in Zulu, Luo live in Luo. This will ensure that we maintain our tribes our languages foods cultures heritage and most importantly our pride and history. Our children are growing up not even knowing their own language and history rather they are used to the colonists language and culture and this pains me. Even if we will have to shed blood fight our own. Africa must and will be made of 3000 nations mark my word.

@@okonkwodavid644 creating those federation has nothing with being divided. What am proposing is instead of us living in this countries that were made up we should create our own borders and this borders should be based on tribes hence even though am a Luo it won't make me less of an African. We as Africans have lost much history language pride and this federation will help us maintaining the little we have interms of our cultures and history. Because without it Africa will never go anywhere.
