Thank you so much for posting all of your videos. They have made all the difference in the world to me. I tried the flylady system a couple of years ago, but got lost in the mess and drifted away. I came back to it a little while back and found your videos. Watching your videos have become part of my morning routine, and I don't think that I could have gotten this far in flylady not had these videos. While I am decluttering, I often play an old video just to feel like I'm doing it with a friend. And I love waking up each morning and getting the inspiration and encouragement that you offer to keep going and keep trying and keep making a difference in my home. Please know that you are appreciated and that your videos do make a difference. Thank you again!
Diane, I am 50 years old and it didn't occur to me ever before just to use my vacuum to clean out all the dust and crumbs that are two of my odd-sized kitchen cabinets. One is skinny with a bracket inside for holding cookie sheets, etc. The other is a lazy susan type of cabinet in a corner. Trying to figure out how to get in there and get them clean with a rag or sponge was intimidating or overwhelming or something and so I've been putting it off for way too long. Thank you so much for keeping all these older videos accessible to your viewers!
Well I'm inspired to declutter even more. The last time I worked in zone 2 my DH asked what happened to a particular kitchen utensil...I couldn't help but laugh as he never cooks. He pointed out that he does however unload the dishwasher and that's how he noticed that the utensils had been thinned out. Now that's progress. Thanks Diane, as always your videos are a treat.
Hello Diane, another great video! I'm a die hard perfectionist which makes me an all or nothing kinda gal. I would work in one room just about all day then be wiped out for the next couple of days-not good. Your constant reminders of taking a break have finally started to sink in 😏 Today is Thanksgiving here in Canada, where we take time to be thankful for the things and people we have in our lives. I am thankful for you Diane. For all your dedication to your subscribers and this channel, for your great sense of humor and most of all-your genuine caring to help others. I feel as though I've gained a friend that helps me each day to focus on my home and myself which in turn makes life in general much easier 😀 So with all that said, Thank You Diane ❤️
FOR A FRIEND:Cancer is very invasive and destructive to our body, even after the end of the treatment, your body is still fighting with yourself trying to reconstruct all the damage caused by radiation. It's a very long process. Please, in honor of a family member or a friend who died, or is still fighting cancer, or even had cancer and is in remission; copy and paste this status on your wall. I believe a select few of my friends will post this to show their support for their family/friend who may be struggling. I'd like to know who I can count on to take a minute out of their day and actually read, follow instructions and write "done" in the comments.
That is so lovely - thank you very much! I hope you had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving. Yes, there are many of us who are perfectionists and the system is helping us to relax a little and have some fun. Thanks for joining me!
Fruit soup?! Fascinating! I love all the culture specific products you show us. I found when I moved from Texas to Australia, it was all these wee differences that made life idiosyncratic-ly entertaining. Lol!
D&WGagnon Homestead drawers are nice. But one thing with that kind of kitchen is the lack of storage for food storage. I love my danish kitchen but really want a pantry
I've struggled with my overhead cupboards because I'm quite short. I can generally reach things at the front of the cupboard but not farther into the back of it. What I've found helpful is using small plastic baskets, some with handles on, in which you can store smaller items and then just grab the basket down and get what you want. I also use a lazy Susan for things like herbs and condiments on a shelf I can't reach the back of, as I just need to spin it round and grab what I need. I try to store stuff I don't need to get to often up on the highest shelves. Hope this helps.
Hello Diane, Isn't it funny how kids love to hang onto the strangest things - like old plastic bottles :) We have sooooo many water bottles.. all for different purposes (plastic, glass, stainless etc etc,,) but DD15 refuses to let go of an old mineral water plastic bottle. What to do!! ?? Haggis in a tin??! Amazing.. don't think you'll ever see this in my part of the world.. Do you ever attempt to cook it from scratch Diane? Love your kickboard drawers in the kitchen and what a nifty pantry under the bench! I'm certain your kitchen is Ikea! Very clever storage solutions. I quickly went through my kitchen .. Donated a large bowl, a coffee percolator and tea pot, cos seriously I don't need 5 tea pots! After all how much tea can "jeg drekker" (lol) Thank you for being the little voice in my head that encourages me to declutter! Helen :)
Exactly what I was planning to do today. My cabinets have been sadly neglected. Will finish watching this as I do mine. Thanks for the encouragement Diane!
Your kitchen drawers are great, so much easier than the basic cupboard where things get pushed to the back and never used. Like the idea of fruit soup could quite easily get addicted to those, do they actually contain pieces of fruit or just a purée? Thanks for the tour xx
Your droors comment made my day! You have helped me out so much with your videos. I started 2 weeks ago. So far I am doing my morning & evening routine.
Inspirational Today ! Thank you !!! One wee comment and question. In my home I do have an area all in one placed and a backpack for each of us filled for a 72 Hour Emergency Kit. As you have all see with earthquakes and the flooding here in America and World, we feel it necessary to be prepared! Placed in one area( hard to think of where sometimes) as to grab and go when we have notice! Just enough snackish food, nutrition, One Gallon of bottled water with an handle per person ( there are many sites to teach us the basics, or I’d be happy to share with group if you’d like ) and don’t forget the pets ! The thought is after a big disaster it takes about 72 hours for local emergency services to get it to gather to help Public ! Then there is a basic food storage that we have to draw upon for like when you’ve lost you job etc. That little cushion can be a life saver and has been in mine and my extended family and Friends. All based on your family needs, space etc. oh and fist aid kits and medication that you Family or pets take ! It’s just something one to ponder on. I’ve know some people who use there basements and it looked like a Mimi food store ! A bit excessive to me . But each is different ! I’m always grateful to have a few packs of toilet 🚽 tissue on hand ! Or washing detergents! Sales are good, BUT as Flyladies we tend to over do thing !!! I love ❤️ how you store you food bottled and canned to see labels ! I’m going to look how I can implement this in my kitchen !! You and the fly babies have taught and teaching me so much ! Your All you clothing and pretty kitchen towels ! I need new ones mine were getting raggedy! For 21 years I’ve used the white terry shop totals or also called bar keeper towels. Not pretty but can bleach the heck out of them !! It’s so nice to open my drawer and see nice new towels ! Thank You All so much ! I LOVe the community YOU’VE Made for US !!! Yeah YOU !!!💃💃💃💃 I cant fins Pom Poms ! So Dancing Diane will have to do ! Xoxoxox Deb in California!
Oi, felt like you were talking right to me. Must take breaks duly noted. 😍 Edit: Yes fruit soup, coming from Canada to Sweden that was an odd one to get use to, but it’s alright really.
Just decluttered my cutlery ( badly congested) and the drawers with you. Think I need some containers to store stuff neatly. Might shop my plastics cupboard. No need to buy anything. Dianne, did you find you decluttered in layers when you were a new flybaby? This time round in the kitchen I am paring down a bit again. Is this normal or was I just crap at decluttering last time in this zone? Cheers, Olwyn
Unfortunately, the person who designed my kitchen loved lazy Susan cupboards very difficult to corral. Going to try to figure out my cans and pasta sauces today and late down.. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Hello Diane, how do you clean your dishwasher with citric acid?I use citric acid in toilet bowl but never heard about diswhwasher? Rilettes de canard in mash potatoes that's very original, we just eat them with fresh bread and "cornichons" here in France lol But must taste good!!! Thanks. Florence
Salut, Florence! I fill up the soap container with citric acid (about two spoonfuls) and run the dishwasher. Works like a charm! (You can even put your glasses in there while it runs...removes the chalk.)
LOL
I am putting my kitchen zone on hold this week. I have an upstairs room that needs a serious clean out. and I have a friend who is staying with me this week to help with that. I spent 2 weeks in August helping her unpack and get her new house organized and set up, then I just spent a week there helping her get her greenhouse cleaned out and organized. So she is returning the favor. And this room will take all week. We work for about 2-3 hrs. then take a break. Then for another couple hours, Today we only worked in the morning. Yesterday I also had to get my morning routine (and laundry) caught up. But we are making some slow progress. After we get this room done, then I will have some really serious paper clutter to take care of (I am not trying to do it right now). She thinks it will take me years to get the papers gone through, I think otherwise. lol
Hi Elaine! I wear an old pair of Nike running shoes which I cleaned up and keep solely for indoors. You mentioned in a previous comments that wear elasticated sandals, don't you? That's what I do in the summer when it's hot (old sports sandals, which I cleaned up).

I love the clean look of not having cupboards up above!

BiscuitNGravyTales I moved from Az to Melbourne about 13 years ago. I know what you mean.
Trina Priddy That’s about how long I’ve lived in Sydney, too! Small world. 😊
I am so envious of those drawers I have cupboards right now that I hate trying to get things in and out especially the overhead ones.

As a meat and potatoes girl from Kansas I loved seeing all the different kinds of foods, especially the fruit soup.
I’ve been teaching all day today so I just caught up. What a treat a decluttering video for me to enjoy my cup of tea with!!! Lucky me xx
Hello, Diane!! You've just inspired me to decluter my drawers while I cook. Thank you!! ☺️
It’s funny watching this now with you talking about stockpiling- little did we know what the future held with lockdown

Haggys, yummm 😍🤩😍
LOL
Diane in Denmark merci beaucoup bonne semaine 🌞
Couldn't find fruit soup at Amazon. There are lots of canned fruit in juice. Would you call these fruit soup.
Hi Jean! No, fruit soup is quite different and not something you'll probably find outside of Sweden. It's like drinking a hot, thick fruit cordial.

Yay, Janice - one step at a time!
Curious how you "dress to shoes" when typically you don't wear shoes in your home? Thanks.
Hi Elaine! I wear an old pair of Nike running shoes which I cleaned up and keep solely for indoors. You mentioned in a previous comments that wear elasticated sandals, don't you? That's what I do in the summer when it's hot (old sports sandals, which I cleaned up).
Have you ever got hold of Citric acid in UK Dianne?
Beverley Forde I get it in Boots - good for descaling kettles and bottle sterilisers too
Blaney Bunch Oh thank you ! Would never of thought of Boots:) X
If you can't get it in Boots, your local chemist will have it.
Yay! Let's delcutter
