Wolf-Ferrari is hardly a household name these days but I'm sure this wonderful opera suite will win over many new listeners. The music to me is utterly irresistible with seemingly effortless orchestration. Neville Marriner and the St Martin players' performance is top class. Danza Napoletana, a sort of Italian Sabre Dance (!), is an absolute showstopper!
What a disservice to one of the best composers! There is a complete version of the opera on youTube. I enjoyed "Sly" Shakespeare (serious opera) & his operettas from Goldoni & Moliere. You name it! Much of his music is on youTube.
