    The most interesting feature to me of this thing is the PRESET pressure. I often wonder why my floor plump can't have an adjustable pressure relief valve that I can dial in to the pressure I want, and then just pump away till it pops open. Quick and accurate!
    I am definitely in need of a new floor pump... something with a BIG dial and durable, easily sealing pump head...

    I saw a Katusha mechanic at the worlds TT in Valkenburg using a handheld Bosch PAG 12v air compressor to top up wheels before the start. I don't think they sell it still (not that I've seen in the UK anyway) but I was able to get one on eBay for £5. Awesome for topping up tyres when your bike is stored off the floor and easily as quick as a good track pump.

    for traveling, and not wanting a full size floor pump in tow - TOPEAK ROAD MORPH G PUMP W/GAUGE
    also great for commuting and not minding a frame pump on the bike or in your bag.

    I've got one of another brand, which can pump 4 100psi 23c tube with single full charge. For me, it's useful when I travel to another country by plane for cycling, as large pump is not always feasible for putting in the bike case. Of course as others mentioned in comments, CO2 is another good way to solve the problem.

    I'm imagining the scenario now.. someone get's a flat. You pull that out of the back pocket, and everyone stands around for 2 minutes watching it intently while it pumps up a tyre. Hilarious :)

    The pressure behind a presta valve keeps it shut so the air you hear is from the pump hose not from the tube, am I missing something?

    one thing to note, even small portable car tire air compressors that plug into a 12v car outlet are only supposed to run for a short time before needing to cool down. slime makes one and its run time i think is a reported 8 minute max. gotta remember these are small air compressors working hard to deliver high pressures in this case. being oil free and tiny means they only have a small portion of time before they get to hot to effectively work. i bet if you waited a bit and then tried it again youd get to 100 on both tires. that being said if you flat both tires who wants to wait say 36 minutes between pumping it up and waiting for it to cool down before pumping it up again? not me!

  • @robertostman2075
    @robertostman2075 7 років тому

    ok I think that what we may be missing is a air pump, but that can be somehow connected to the gear system, so we just turn the bike upside down and start pedaling.... the pedaling should provide enough torque to inflate any tire... am I wrong and there is a dice as I have described??

  • @TeslaOsiris
    @TeslaOsiris 7 років тому +27

    Don't really see what the point is... A floor pump could get you there in 20 seconds.

    • @gplama
      @gplama  7 років тому +6

      A floor pump doesn't easily stick in the back pocket. Although a good frame pump does.

      Shane Miller Or one could use one of those nifty CO2 cartridges that are allegedly all the rage these days.

    • @RixterNow
      @RixterNow 7 років тому +2

      Shane Miller you will need a new jersey if you stick that in your back pocket. I'm not seeing the use case either. Either you have a track pump at home, C02 or hand pump if you want portability

      when i travel i sometimes go with a bike for a few weeks or more and cutting corners on the weight of pumps would be a big plus (and i hate the hassle of using my little hand held that fits in my back pocket).

  • @BlueL1n3
    @BlueL1n3 7 років тому +1

    wow, thought it would allow for more tires to be filled, might as well just carry 2 (or more) canisters of C02, would be quicker, lighter, and cheaper.

    Just curious, what pressure do you normally run on the road? (clinchers) Also, are you a 23 or 25mm guy?

  • @leepantsify
    @leepantsify 7 років тому

    Question, are you running higher pressure in the tub because the tire is narrower ? Or some other reason for preferring that pressure in the tubular?

  • @chiwanau
    @chiwanau 7 років тому

    u can get an air compressor that runs off the power plug in you car. does ok pumping car and bike tires. could prolly tear that pump apart and repurpose the batteries into power packs to charge your other devices.

  • @palmer3977
    @palmer3977 7 років тому

    The tubular tyre doesn't have a screw valve, so it takes two of you to pump it up using a track pump?

  • @avantxz
    @avantxz 7 років тому

    i agree - this thing is a waste of time and space! i cant think of a situation where it would replace a track pump or CO2.
    on another note, i always thought the air leakage that you hear when taking the hose off after pumping is from the pressure in the hose, not coming out of the tyre?

    • @JS-tb9hu
      @JS-tb9hu 7 років тому +1

      I thought the same about the hose pressure

    • @gplama

    since I don't have much time for riding and when I have I do it using Zwift just after having dinner, I know that it's not convenient but do you think my body will suffer doing it in the long run?

    We ride fat tires around here in very remote locations (no cell signals, 100k from home, etc...), mini/frame pumps make us look like Popeye with over 1000 pump strokes needed to fill a flat fat tire. Would this product work, not over heat, on a fat tire where 15psi is needed to get back to the car?

  • @awildtomappeared5925
    @awildtomappeared5925 6 років тому

    last i checked, when you unscrew the pump from the valve, the air being released is from the pump not the bike

    • @gplama
      @gplama  6 років тому

      That theory holds air, but in practice some pumps will deflate the whole thing as they've pressed the tip down. Your milage may vary.

  • @johnbailey520
    @johnbailey520 7 років тому

    Pretty wanky gizmo maybe for inflating footballs, you know the pointy kind or soccor balls. Not worth the lost gas mileage hauling it around in your car. Maybe you could fit it into an aero seat post for adjusting tire pressure on the go? Might be a tight fit with that motor already taking up space and all. But always fun teching out with you!

  • @michaelhinchey

    Since the tires are bigger on mountain bikes won't the machine work just as hard to pump them up? Not a 100% sure and is just my opinion.

    • @RomansFiveDotEight
      @RomansFiveDotEight 7 років тому +2

      Higher volume, lower pressure. So no in fact.

    • @michaelhinchey
      @michaelhinchey 7 років тому

      So doesn't it still pump just as much air?

    • @michaelhinchey
      @michaelhinchey 7 років тому

      I mean more air. So it has to work longer. Therefore the batteries will die just as quick.

    • @michaelhinchey
      @michaelhinchey 7 років тому +1

      Either way it is just not up to pumping yourself In emergencies

    • @196hasnain
      @196hasnain 7 років тому

      theyd take a larger volume of air, however mtb tires typically take significantly less psi so perhaps its wouldnt be much more.

    Hi There thanks for your nice video.
    Please I need your help and advise I like to buy fully electric bike to use going and coming from work around 40 KM.
    But I do not have any experience about bikes so please suggest me a good bike considering that the road where I live in Belgium is not always flat some times goes up and down, also my weight is 110KG , what I like is the double tire and I saw also a bike which has air pump installed below the seat for emergency.
    Also I am interested of those type of bike which can be folded to but it in train and so on.
    My budget is around+/- 1000 /1200euro
    Thanks a lot

      Correct pressure isn't 'maximal inflation' printed on the side of the tyre. You need to take into account front/back, rider weight, road surface, and dry/wet.

  • @frozerekmeyata4091
