The Barnet is an antique Hoosier cupboard. It was used in kitchens prior to the advent of built in cabinetry. They usually had an area to store baking supplies (flour and such) and also a built in sifter, storage for mixing bowls, baking pans, utensils, etc. They were quite popular in the 1930’s to 1950’s.
Thanks, Janie! Before Ethan opened the top cupboard door, I thought it was a pill press. Once I saw the top, I immediately thought flour sifter. I appreciate the additional information!!
96, 000 subs, you deserve it Ethan, you show us so many unique properties that we would never see otherwise, your hard work is definitely rewarded , and on top of all that you have a level of respect and admiration for these homes that others don’t show, you deserve a million subs and will get there one day!
I love the hot tub room, looked to me like an addition. That cabinet was a Hoosier cabinet, I have always wanted one and that even had the stickers! The kitchen was definitely more modern than the rest of the house, makes me wonder if the plan was to remodel the whole place and something happened. Great find Ethan!
What a great house and gorgeous property. I really hope it gets refurbished instead of torn down. Love split level homes and that’s a pretty big one. Love the back sunroom with the hot tub. Fireplace down there nice too. Big rooms including bedrooms. Odd that whole bedroom set was left when no other furniture was. Thanks. This was a nice one Ethan. Take care and keep safe.
You Ethan are a true 💯 real deal person. You don't bring false or made up, or fake to your channel you keep it simple and you have an old soul and care about these old homes I can tell .. I love your videos.... And idon't care if you revisit the same house once a week to check up on it. I'll be a subscription till the end. So stay humble, stay true and just be you. That's what alot of us love about your videos. God bless . Thank you
It's a sweet 70s style home! It has so many fabulous architectural elements, like the interior brick, and the tiles, and I love the arches, interior and exterior, I think they always create a lot of interest and aesthetic. Love the hot tub and the room that it's in! 🤩 Love the property as well! Amazing find!😎✌️
Loved this house Ethan....looks like some of it been renovated..like split level houses .. weird all the ceilings were down on the floor below...🤷♀️..Nice to see you back and happy, with 96k people that love you😍...always make me smile ...stay safe and well ..🤗💋
I find myself tensing up while exploring with you! So afraid someone is going to be around the corner. Be careful Ethan. bpBut thanks for the awesome tours! This was a nice find!
I like these houses. It’s strange that the house has so much damage with the drywall falling down. The garage full of stuff and it looks new. Be careful going in these houses alone. Looks like someone is living in that bedroom
This house was awesome. Wish it didn’t have all the damage. I’ll bet it was a real nice one back in the day. Great find though. Thank you. Keep up the great finds
I love the arches in this house. It was very big but nice overall. There was a lot of damage for sure. I have watched other people explore abandoned homes. But I didn’t care for their videos. I love watching your videos and you videos are the only ones that I watch now. Keep up the good work and stay safe and your members love you . 💙🏠💙🏠💙🏠💙🏠
I used to live in a 5000 sq foot house… it’s A LOT of work/maintenance ( we lived on the ocean & the salt eats away at everything. I learned to appreciate why people live in high rise condos & pay someone else to maintain!) I now live in a 1200 sq door house/ at least I can hear what’s happening on the other side of the house! The way the 5000 sq Ft house was laid out, you couldn’t hear anything on the other side of the house, an axe murder could have taken place & I wouldn’t have heard it… Thanks for your video’s& Congratulations on all your subscribers!👍
Another great find. You can sense this house is on the cusp of the 80s, it’s still got the 70’s vibe - the arches and old cabinets, but even the fireplace with the brass is definitely leaning towards the 80’s - the kitchen had been recently remodelled- the black thin gloss tiles on splash backs is relatively new, almost like someone was starting to renovate. Maybe a developer came along and made them an offer too good to walk away from.. who knows.
I like this house! The little lamp on the floor is a oil/kerosene lamp. They come in quite handy when the power is out or for others... to use in place of electricity.
First of all Ethan, CONGRATS on your growing & growing numbers! Ok Ethan, I normally don’t get “feelings” when you go through homes, but when you went into that first bedroom I got really nervous. Your lighting was very low, so that made it creepier. But it looked like someone(squatter)left their clothing. It just looked so out of place. Just a few pieces of clothing, the one room with a bed, darkness, & you😮I really hope someone knows where you are when you’re alone like this. Your definitely braver then me going in any place alone. As for the house, I’m not one for split levels. It had some nice features though, & big. Can’t beat having property like that. Except keeping up the lawn. It would be nice having a huge hot tub & piped in music. You watch yourself out there! Oh & get a better flashlight so you can see! That second basement did look real creepy. Someone could have been hiding in there😮
The cabinet is called a “Hoosier” cabinet. They were used in kitchens before the now standard cabinetry. The metal container on the left is for storing and dispensing flour.
Love your work Ethan watching from Brisbane Queensland Australia. This split level design was very popular here too during most of the ‘70s. The only real difference apart from the electric outlets is that 99% of Australian houses even new ones don’t have basements. . Keep up the great work man, you’re doing an awesome job 🙂👍
I love the brick, the arches...as well. Towel holders in the upper bathroom remind me 9f my grandmas old house. It definitely was a lot bigger than it truly was.
Hi Ethan! I really like this house. Unique layout. Shame it's in such bad shape. 100k subs will be here in no time. Your such a respectful young man and I really enjoy the fact that you love vintage houses. New builds will never have the character and finishes that came in older homes. Thanks for all your hard work. On to the next!
I wonder if there was a leak from the water pipes from the second story floor? That could explain all the ceiling being knocked down on the ground floor. Interesting house seems pretty cool place. Thanks Ethan for the tour. 😊 your the best. Blessings to you and please be safe.
Hi Ethan This house certainly seen better days. I couldn’t believe all those ceilings have fallen. From the outside it looks like a perfect house. The basement was dark and creepy enough but then you found that other section of basement that was flooded and that was even creepier. I like the big kitchen and also that huge living room. That one bedroom with the bed in it was also dark and creepy. I wonder why it’s abandon. It’s a good size house for a family of 6. Too bad about that hot tub. Nice work Ethan. Thanks for taking us along with you on this adventure. Stay safe and well out there. Congrats on the 96.2K subs.❤👍
❤ Cool House Ethan ! Amazing such a shame it's gonna be demmoed house was well constructed love the hard wood floors kitchen was really nice but the mold cabinets were yucky good sized bedrooms all in all a great find thanks for sharing xo stay safe 🎉
In the Hoosier cabinet, the white metal thing was meant to hold flour or the like (usually flour) that was dispensed into a measuring cup held underneath. Also, there's a round wall outlet behind the oil lamp you pointed out. Pretty sure thats a central vacuum outlet! Very cool!
Another fantastic explore, Ethan. I agree that hot tub is really nice. I did feel like that upstairs bedroom with the furniture was pretty creepy. Maybe those clothes on the floor just gave me a bad vibe. Hey! It's good to see you looking happy & well.
Good morning Ethan what a beautiful home the downstairs is bad but upstairs some of the rooms are nicer than others one. You’re right looks like move in ready for the most part. Love seeing the older homes. Thank you for sharing stay safe out there have a great day 😊
Such a shame that the roof was not repaired. No structure should be left to rot down. I really like the main floor. I was a nice home before the leaking roof. Seems like they were giving th house a nice refreshing remodel....Then they just stopped and never returned.
Hi Ethan😎🏎, I like the outside of the house and ya that garage looks new,so weird. Looks like the ceiling got ripped down in the liv rm. It looks like water damage everywhere and mold. You should wear a mask. That was funny when you said holy cobwebs 😄 I liked the formal dining room and liv rm very old school. Looks like somebody left their bedroom set in that one room. Those books were freaky!! The other room was plain and floor was coming up,bathroom wasn’t to bad. That dark grey room was weird. Last bedroom wasn’t bad. I am not a fan of those weird attics lol wow there was a lot of serious damage in those other rooms. Becareful in houses like this one,you never know lol hey I love your hoodie😀and I think your awesome as always and can’t wait to see your next one🏡😎🏎
If they ran the hot tub down in the basement without proper ventilation, all the moisture would of been contained on the walls, floors, ceilings, carpets. Things would begin to fall apart. If you notice hotels with indoor pools and spas have lots of ventilation for them. Also if the basement doesn’t have drainage tiles around the footing of the basement covered in pea size gravel then fill dirt to drain off melting snow, rain, plus have basement walls sealed it tends to leak into the basement.
Janieclaypoole9842 is absolutely correct on the Houser cabinet. I remember my family had a similar one and my mom made biscuits every day. The 25lb.bag of flour would get poured into the large bin and and the bottom was the sifter. You turn the handle to the amount of flour you needed . My mom didn't measure , she would eye ball it judging how much she needed and mix it up with her hands. Oh those were the days !!! I can't imagine how beautiful that home was back in the late 70's. It's such a shame to see it wasting away like that as it has so many beautiful features. The woodwork, tile in the bathrooms, brick fireplaces. If a person with some money and skills could come in and save it. Thank you so much Ethan for the tour. I appreciate the work you're doing , stay safe , keep on being cool. Until the be next adventure..Cheers.
Hi Ethan!! 🌈🙋♀️!! Cool place!! Loved the arches, brick, swanky hot tub and kitchen. Also what a great backyard!! Congrats on 96+ and let’s see that 💯🥂✨Cindy 🦋

That piece in the jacuzzi room that has the sifter on the left is for flour. That is a old Kitchen piece the bins usually held your onion's and potatoes and the flour went in the sifter and you placed a bowl under it to get your needed flour pre sifted right from there.

Some of the 70's homes you show have really taken me back! Some of the 80's homes are like yesterday for me.

I love that we are getting to see this wth you!!! ❤❤ You are amazing!!
This house was awesome. Wish it didn’t have all the damage. I’ll bet it was a real nice one back in the day. Great find though. Thank you. Keep up the great finds
Said it before and I'll say it again, 70's era homes are the best! Really enjoyed this video on this house, thank you ethan!
OMG this is beautiful ❤️ I'm just falling in love ❤️ with You're Uploads Ethan 🤗 Nothing but The Best 💯🙌
That is called a Hoosier Cabinet used for baking area.
We love you too Ethan. Pretty decent house. Bad water damage. Liked the bathrooms, nice tiles. That is one nice hottub. Great explore Ethan.❤❤❤❤❤
Hahahaha I read that book “Why men love bitches” when I was in my 20s and it changed my life FOREVER!!! 😂❤
now i have to read it or maybe Ethan should read it
Nothing warms my heart like wood paneling. Thanks Ethan for another great explore!
I was just about to look for a video of yours to watch! 😆
Oh; I want that old Hoosier in the entry.
So weird all the ceilings falling down. It's like someone was trying to remodel.

6.28 technical term for the cabinet is Hoosier. Very much an antique, and worth quite a bit of money, with the original stickers.
It was used to hold all the baking supplies. The white bin, on the left dispensed flour.
The cabinet is called a “Hoosier” cabinet. They were used in kitchens before the now standard cabinetry. The metal container on the left is for storing and dispensing flour.
Always wanted one of these!
@@carolmay5168 I had one at one point, sort of wish I still did.
With a flour dispenser
Great house...even with the damage. Congrats on the subscribers! You deserve it. 😺
That collection of bedside book made me laugh out loud! So funny!!
Love the part of the house that's not so damaged

Cool house but the double basement 🤔🤔 weird. Enjoyed it Ethan!
It’s a Kitchen Pantry Cupboard with a baking flour dispenser
It's awesome! Can't believe they left it. I would love to have one.
I’ve always called them Hoosier cabinets and I’d love to have one, too!
It's a Hoosier cabinet. Most were painted. Wooden ones are very expensive. They were built in a factory in Indiana.
And it is called a Hoosier cabinet. The enamel top is for kneading bred.
@@carolynscales8277 Yes! I forgot that's what it was called. Thx!

Lovely place, the split levels really appeal to me. Shame you couldn’t get into that creepy second basement area!
Too bad there’s so much damage, but what a nice house than must have been!!
Hey Ethan, this is a very cool seventies era home!!! I really enjoy your adventures, thanks for sharing this fun one!!! 👍👍🙂
Janieclaypoole9842 is absolutely correct on the Houser cabinet. I remember my family had a similar one and my mom made biscuits every day. Another beautiful one Ethan ❤
I really like that mansion, I can imagine how beautiful it was back in the day
This was a really good find. Great job, Ethan.❤

Hi Ethan!! 🌈🙋♀️!! Cool place!! Loved the arches, brick, swanky hot tub and kitchen. Also what a great backyard!! Congrats on 96+ and let’s see that 💯🥂✨Cindy 🦋
Very cool. Thanks Ethan! Glad you're going to be okay. 😀
I love the videos, but a lot of these 'mansion' titles are pretty misleading lol
The word mansion ( on all channels) has come to mean anything that was a standard family home a few years ago. Maybe it’s a reflection in common language as to how unaffordable standard homes have become.
The home outlasted the roof.
Betcha hit 100 k in no time flat. Your channel is a good one.

It’s a Hoosier Cabinet that used to be in kitchens. Feel free to send it to me ! Those are valuable!
Nice! Looks like the upstairs bathrooms flooded the lower levels on that one side of the house. Cool had back in the day I’m sure.
nice place at least it wasn’t pre vandalized!
I was dying at tht book “why men love b*tches” 😂😂
I have that book, don't know where I got it from, friends dumpster diving or somebody gave it to us! Lol!
You rock it every time, Ethan! Those cabins were called “Hoosier” cabinets. They held the flour and the sugar .
I’ve always wanted one of the Hoosier cabinets that was in the room with the hot tub. They are very expensive.
That piece in the jacuzzi room that has the sifter on the left is for flour. That is a old Kitchen piece the bins usually held your onion's and potatoes and the flour went in the sifter and you placed a bowl under it to get your needed flour pre sifted right from there.
