Oh man, that's a tough challenge, Pedro, and I lose big time. Six of my 7 cabooses have either zero or only one truck. Time to make a caboose motel with a wild story about trucks thieves. Thanks for posting this. I could watch trains all day on your fantastic pike!😁
Awesome challenge, Pedro! Im a new subscriber and found you from Pappy. My video response to your challenge should go live around 1030 am. You have a great looking layout and im looking forward to more videos!
Hi Padro, Currently working up the Caboose Parade for my special run of the Caboose Challenge and for my what is suppose to be an annual event (but has skipped some years between each of the previous runs). The count as I go through the fleet is currently 26 already on the train running successfully but the order can change due to the additional weight on this train. 6 need a few couplers and or adjustments and I have a electrical short on one wheel set of another so these need to go on the bench. Yes Things happen even when you store these that require some tender loving car even with the best care we use. To do my planned 60 cabooses, there will be some order to pull these with cheaper Plastic couplers to be toward the back of the train as I need Kadee couplers up forward due to the heavy coupler pull expected and expect will stretch Plastic couplers open and break the train. I have a lot of operational cabooses but yes many still need some care as I go through them for this special run. This train with the expected caboose count should get the train in HO to 30 feet or more. That will be half way around the single bay garage. But my original Caboose from my very first train as a kid is already part of the first selection of cars to add to this train, It is a simple one not even a lot of detail but Still fully operational and dependable. Not just the couplers but the mounting box has to stay in place for this run to happen. This first storage container if all are up for the task will total 40. Then it is on to container two. The other thing is that the colors of these cabooses need to be mixed in for this train to become colorful. The goal is to operate 60 or plus for New Year's Eve run. I have new storage containers from Walther's that they will go into to protect them better after this run. One never run caboose by me, one that has been in a box of odds and ends for several years, is a Rock Island Caboose which I suspect is a 1961 MFG both by the serial number on the side of it and also the style of wheel trucks and coupler and their mountings dates back to some anniversary cars That I know date back to those dates and the body bottoms, coupler, the wheel trucks all match those dated in that erra. Also cars back then were also dated by the serial number of a special set back then. SO we will see if I make this caboose count. Newman Atkinson on the SHRINE HILL RAILROAD. Happy New Year to you all!!! out there whether I make the count or not
@@ShrinehillRail Hey there Newmen. Sounds like you have your hands full. It should make for a great video when you’re done. Good luck with it. Happy New Year. See you at the modelers meet if you are coming over.,
Hi Padro, Yes New Years Eve run was done although I didn't have anyone to see it. Out of 64 Cabooses on my inventory, many of these have never seen the same train together. So last night was the 6th actual running of the Caboose Parade since 2012. After a check on all the contestants, I was able to prep 53 for this run with success and will try and get it posted in the next week or so. 53 cabooses ends up to be almost 30 foot long I still have a lot of plastic couplers and to help with that, many of those cabooses were on the last part of the train. Still working to get the count up to the 64 but to do that most of the couplers will need to be KaDee metal ones as with the drag created in this train it the plastic coupler knuckles will stretch to open enough to become uncoupled especially the ones up forward with more drag behind This train has a lot of drag with a wheel/ axle count of 212 . This run was performed on level tracks. Happy New Year everyone. Hope to have my video up soon. Newman
All right!!! Challenge accepted, ill see what I can do, don't have but a few of them.. hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.. you may want to tag the names in the description so the folks you Challenged see this..
Hi Padro, I am going to accept your challenge, My first run was 31 cabooses where all but 3 were mine in 2012 Some were all wood. The next one in 2015 was 32 cabooses with many railroads with all of them mine. These two runs are on my youtube page of SHRINEHILLRAIL the first is 2012 Caboose Parade and the Second one is 2015 Caboose Parade. These are two of the five I have video'd. I have when I had the time to try and do this every New Years Eve. But has not happened every year. I am planning a run number 6 this New Years Eve on the SHRINEHILL RAILROAD for 24/25. It is level tracks and hoping for a successful run at a count of 60... Like I need another caboose, will see. I sent you more info on my text to you Any Caboose Parade is a good looking train. I believe There is a special run each year at the Connersville White River Railroad over towards Richmond Indiana. Later Newman
