We're back with another unboxing and product review! We tear through the Dungeon Kit to find out if it's worth your hard earned money. It's basically an updated Dungeon Master's Screen with a few extras. Are the geomorph cards the best thing in this set? Will you ever use the Dry/wet Erase grid? Do you think DM Screens should even come with extra nonsense like this? Let us know your thoughts. Drop a comment down below, and discuss the Dungeon Kit with your favorite Liches!
Thank you for actually using a geomorph card to make a dungeon. Every unboxing video I've come across just shows me what I have, but I sit here asking myself "Well, how do I use the geomorph cards? How many should I use?" And you guys nailed it.
Our pleasure! Those geomorph cards are super cool and nobody seems to talk about them. We were certainly surprised at how awesome they turned out to be. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Randy!
Love the random generation side of this kit- really puts the DUNGEON in DM. The room states and monster motivations adds a lot, and I could see it meshing well with the random encounter charts in Xanathar's.
We totally agree with you! This product is all about being able to toss together Dungeon-esque location in a short amount of time. It's pretty cool. With this kit, the DMG, and Xanathar's you could have some great prep sessions! We can't stress how helpful the Dungeon Geomorph cards are for instantly providing the DM with a workable canvas.
Very sympathetic and always a reference to practical application. This is already my third video from you that I watch today. You already have my subscription.
Thanks! We want folks to know exactly what they're getting and if the product is useful. The more thorough we can be the better we can assist the community!
Thanks so much Alvaro! This made our day! We're a pretty new channel,, but we're working on new videos for you to enjoy! We hope to see you in the comments again soon!
@@BasicLiches I’ll do my best to try and watch all the content you put out ASAP so the damn algorithm gives your channel a chance… I thing you’re very engaging people and deserve more visibility… good luck with your project!
I could see myself getting that. It has one of the nicer, non campaign specific arts for a DM screen. And outside of combat with minis, (where I'd normally use tokens or status rings to denote conditions) it may be useful to hand out condition cards for theatre of the mind combat. That way players don't need reminding of what the condition entails, or forget they have it.
We love the artwork on the screen too. The condition and initiative cards seem to be a "take it or leave it" part of the kit. But we love the Dungeon Geomorph deck. Those cards and the new dungeon tables are the real star of the product. Thanks for dropping by with a comment!
Awesome review guys. I would love to watch the 20 minutes of you guys actually rolling and then getting creative. Maybe you didn't speak much so you skipped it, but if you make a new dungeon like this, I'd love to see the process.
Thanks so much Ethan! We did quite a lot of back and forth during that fast forwarding clip. We've toyed around with rolling up a random dungeon for a video...so that very well could happen in the future! And by all means...feel free to use that dungeon and let us know how it worked out for you!
Some nice random tables, but having over half of the screen being Conditions is a bummer. Mostly my DM sits behind his computer where he has all his prepared material. Not $25 I would spend.
With the inclusion of the Condition Cards a DM could keep the deck behind the screen for reference. And the massive amount of space freed up on the screen could have been used for more dungeon centric tables. Maybe they could have added a torch duration table, or a reminder of how Darkvision works (pointing out that dim light causes disadvantage and -5 to passive perception). A little random monsters table for dungeons would have been cool too. You definitely raise a valid point! Thanks for the comment Leo!
Thanks Dane! We're not aware of anything else like the Dungeon Geomorph cards. But we wouldn't be surprised if something exists from a 3rd party publisher.
I think putting the actions in combat and conditions on the players side would be a good idea. I made my DM screen with cardboard, page protectors, and tape. I can slide maps in, or whatever I want to keep in front of the players on their side and change the roll tables on mine.
Gonna get both this and the Wilderness one later for sure. Just stumbled upon your channel among the myriad of larger DnD channels and yeah... top notch content you have going, you reminded me of Dungeon Dudes a bit, two fellas who bring awesomeness to new and old diendiers alike. Im a new D&D player/ d.m. Gonna have my first game session as an adventurer this Thursday so yeah, exciting. Keep it up fellas. Cheers from Norway! 🍺
Thank you so so much for the comment Odin! The Dungeon Dudes are at the top of the Food Chain on UA-cam...as a fairly new channel, we're thrilled you think our content is worthy of being compared to the big boys! We've got more videos coming each week and we're gonna keep striving to improve with each one. Thanks again for watching and best of luck with session on Thursday! Cheers!
Mighty Morphin Liches! As an old time dungeon delve fanatic, I really apricate the low cost of these tool, while completely agreeing we should have seen deck packs, mimic holder and variations on the art across the board.
The elementary kit also has initiative cards (without artwork) and I've found them to be quite useless there as well. It honestly seems a bit like a waste of money "Oh we have some spare paper, let's just print numbers on it", instead of using the paper for something a bit more useful.
The Wilderness Kit is well worth the money due to the tracking sheets and rules for overland travel found nowhere else in the official 5E. I was expecting the same from the Dungeon Kit, with tracking cards, and dungeon crawl procedures, with (finally) defined rules for 10 minute turns. The geomoprhs are nice, but not as useful as what came in the Wilderness Kit. Both kits, however, come with stunning art in the player facing side.
Thanks so much for the comment. We hope they release a few more of these DM Screen/Kits before 5E ends. They're really excellent little products that have surprisingly useful content.
@@BasicLiches These Kits did not get the love that they deserve. You are one of a handful of channels that hav covered the Dungeon Kit. While I already have the Wilderness Kit, you should do a review on it to signal boost it's awesomeness. Just a small request. :D
I got Explorers kit as soon as it got out, and in my humble opinion it is better than Dungeon kit. Although, it depends on what You need for Your style of campaign, as the two of You already said. Longer comment: - both DM screens are abso-fckn-lutely beautiful and more than useful! Worth a buy per se. - add-ons are better in Explorers kit (imho). You have several dry-erase hex grids (i use them to track where my pack of adventurers have wandered off track and whether they can stumble back), as well as another one dry-erase table-ish page for tracking food and water consumption. Other than that, Explorers also has some more info than basic "actions in combat" (I think it is also has journeys and chases as well). - cards. Well, Dungeons are better in this. Those "it's geomorphing time" cards seem fun and useful. Wilderness only has initiative and conditions. I also have full Essentials kit set of cards, and those have quite a few more cards (handouts that are actually useful), and both (all three as we saw here) sets are of the same quality. Like Dyatlov said: not great, not terrible...
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on another video Acidum984! You absolutely rule! We've got the Explorer's Kit and hopefully will review it in the near future. Glad to hear its got some worthwhile content besides the new DM screen.
Let me get this straight... so the little " preview " maps in tve starter/ essential kits, adventure books etc are more like something to draw yourself using them? Because I wish kits etc came with big sized maps of the adventures you are gonna play. Big enough to place figurines, clinger tokens and/ or figure cardboardcutouts on
@@odinulveson9101 Well, yes. Even the big maps in either Essentials kit or adventure books (Eberron and Rime of the Frostmaiden have some huge maps) are maps of that part of the world or larger area, so You can estimate how far something is, or positions of locations of interest. All encounter maps in books and kits are tiny, and give You idea what to draw, or how to setup Your terrain pieces, or what battlemat to use...
Man, UA-cam showed me this 4 days later wth. I've bought the Wilderness one mainly because I prefer the screen art and the like that it has more dry erase maps. That being said I think that one is more specific on what to do with the exclusive stuff. While the geomorph cards I think are definitely the best thing on any of the 2 Screens
We're probably going to review the Wilderness Kit at some point as well. What can we say...we love a good Dungeon Master's Screen! Thanks for the comment RainbowPitt.
Artwork is always going to be subjective, but in person we think the Dungeon Kit screen has lots of little details that are cool for players to look at! But the OG screen has that majestic red dragon that everyone loves. Thanks so much for dropping us a comment Malcolm!
Should I buy something from Wizards of Lawful Evil? the answer is of course not. I thought you meant upgrade from 5e to a good game. That I would recommend. Now that is an upgrade.

Maybe that’s why the dwarves already touched the statues, and maybe that’s why they’re so unpleasant.
