My morning song nung 2018 bago magpunta sa work, nagdadasal lagi na maging okay ang araw ko kasi medyo toxic ang boss ko, may mood swings lagi tapos merong pang mga officemates na akala mo di dumaan sa pagka newbie (di naman lahat) pero may identified. Still with the company but iba na ang assignment. Thanks Lord for redirecting me, at least I'm with the good people now.

Years ago, I was a desperate fat girl seeking acceptance and validation from other people: people who have high standards for beauty. I grew up insecure about my body. Being big was not a bone of contention within my family. Although, I have relatives who always had something to say about my weight. While; other people found gratification by taunting me with their criticisms and insults. I was ridiculed, bullied, and bashed by those lacking empathy for people like me who were considered indifferent. Some rudely spewed invectives they could think of to humiliate me and remind me of how humungous I am. While some people would say, "You are beautiful but fat!" Men mocked me. They say, "If you are thin, I would have pursued you!" However, my scintillating response would be, "If you are clever enough, then I would have probably considered you!" Being curvy not only put me in countless mortifying situations but, it led me to a point where I doubted myself. I lost my self-esteem.
Because of these, I resorted to deleterious means of slimming down. My mindset focused on reducing so I would be accepted by those who matter to me. I went on a crash diet. I only ate fish, fruits, and vegetables, no carbs. I sometimes skipped meals. Whenever I am satiety, I would induce myself to throw up. I even took diet pills. I drank plenty of citric juices. I did workouts in the gym. And after my office work in the afternoon, I strolled off to the capitol park for sightseeing. And after a year, I achieved my goal. However, I also developed a peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Thus, it prevented me from utilizing detrimental ways to slenderize.
Now, I see many plus-size women on social media who live their lives to the fullest. They are living their dreams and advocating body positivity. Their definition of beauty does not confine to the beauty standards that society holds out for them. Yes! There is beauty in diversity. God created us beautiful regardless of our size, shape, skin color, and form. He wants us to embrace the person He designed us to be. It changed my perspective on beauty and wellness. I realized that I could not demand other people to take me for what I am if I denied myself the acceptance I have been longing for from others. God taught me to welcome my body for what it is now, but He also wanted me to protect it and do the essential things to nourish and improve it.
I am still a plus-size, but I refuse to be prey to body shaming. The tracks I am traversing toward health and wellness are peaks and valleys, but God drove me off from the propensity for superficial beauty. I have learned to embrace myself, know my worth, and be free because I am YHWH imperfect perfection!
What I have been through is encapsulated in this poem entitled, Just Love, Leave Hate, and I dedicate to all those who suffer the trauma of being overweight. This is my way of valuing myself and promote self-love. Because if you to be loved, love must emanate from you before you can share it to others. Every first letter at the beginning of each quatrain spells my name.
Heaven, hear me, please!
I come to you on bended knees.
Why had you made me like this?
A girl who is obese.
Abusive words of others taunted me daily.
They say, "I'm fat! Ugly! Whale! Lazy! Greedy!"
Children and adults mock me about my weight.
But they hardly know me and my state.
Zany! That's how they see me.
Finding comfort in food satisfies me.
Moments I am free from the pain they have caused me.
Oh God, please help me!
Everything comes to light;
When God answered my plight.
He said, "My child, I created you for a reason."
Because I love you, including your flaws and imperfection."
Light of hope strengthens my faith.
God sent His love through my given fate.
He is my comforter and loyal mate.
Reminding us not to abandon love, just leave hate.
"Lord, thank you for your loving me. Thank you for making me realize your reason for creating me the way I am now. Without your love, I would never understand; without your love, I would be still in anguish; without your love, I would never accept; and without your love, I would never be free. Amen."
