Not a bad idea at all. :) I'll add it.
❤️
Gosh. That's beautiful. I've been trying to teach myself this. Yours is lovely.
Thank you Juliet.
Love this one, helped me squeak through a tolerable version of it :)
I'm sure your version is more than tolerable. :) Keep up the great work M
This should be easy no fast notes.
Hope it is. Good luck with it.
thank you for this tutorial! I think this tune a week series is an awesome idea. how many weeks do you plan to do this for?
Not sure. I guess till I don't. LOL
I hate to promise anything but so far, I have no intention to stop.
I'm so happy to have found this channel. Thank you fiddlerman for helping me pick up my violin again after 45 years!
You are super welcome. Thanks for watching.
Hello, thank you for this. There's two bits I'm having trouble with. In the third bar where it goes from E to B I don't know how to get my first finger over to the next string quickly in a way where the slur will sound smooth? Similar issue on the 13th bar when the B slurs to the A sharp, i can't get rid of the 'slide' sound. Is it just about speed or is there a knack to this? Thank you
With the E to B, just place your finger more over to the right. If possible, cover both strings at the same time.
With the B to A#, simply slide the finger at the right time. It's ok if you here the slide. Later you can learn to slide faster so that it's less audible, and release some right arm pressure while sliding. With the second one, it's all about timing. Good luck!
I'm Ananth from India. I like to play & learn violin. can you tell. good violin. means good quality and affordable price.
The Artist violin and outfit is super good quality and price.

hei! could you do a little tutorial for the French National song "La Marseillaise" please? I know it's not for beginners and I'm not a beginner, but I have some problems with a few notes and putting the fingers on the right positions. I'm practicing the original one from the 18th century.
It's now on my list. :) What key do you want? It might take a while since my list is already long.
Can you review the ole bull violin by playing "Tango Jalousie" plss
Not a bad idea at all. :)
If you are interested in a Ole Bull, just call fiddlershop and make your request. I demo violins regularly for customers. Those demos do not show here though. They are on the Fiddlershop youtube channel.
You make it look so easy! XD
I used to play the cello (for 6 years) but quit in middle school. Now I'm thinking of asking for a violin for my 23rd birthday and this is definitely one of the songs I would aim for!
Thanks
Thanks! Awesome playing
Thank you!
At age 94 this Tune a Week is a great way for me to get restarted after too many years. Thanks for all of the website.

This is a fun way to learn what these symbols mean before the notes. Its like half way between the fingers. the # means up and the weird one means down (I'm guessing flat and sharp), you can kind of figure that out by the way it SHOULD sound when you play the normal note, not quite right. Also apparently my second finger is USUALLY a little too close to my first because I came upon the flat not knowing what is was and therefore ignored it, but it still sounded right lol. I just barely learned the four basic finger positions though so adding the half notes is defiantly throwing me off. A little easier to figure out Braveheart even though there is more notes because its still only the basic 4 fingers on each string. Granted I don't know what most of the little dots and stuff mean. This one actually just helped me figure out the flat/sharp thing to fix the halo theme song.
Glad that you are able to pick up on the accidentals and other markings. You are probably one of those people that figure things out quickly by yourself. Good job!
@@1stfiddlerman your play through with the sheet music scrolling through the bottom take all the guess work out! Just have to watch your fingers. Keep up the good work!
@@MrCreed145 Good to hear. Thanks, will do.
that open a sharp really through me. I've never seen a flat or a sharp in front of an open note so i couldn't figure out how to make it sound right until i slow mow watched you put your finger at the tippy top of the a string. Was obsessed for like 20 minutes why it didn't sound right. Didn't know it was like half of finger one position.
That a2 (I have not learned the note names yet) at 1:34 I cant get to sound right unless I make it a flat, but its written normally on the sheet music. Unless I'm missing some basic music theory thing like what the sharp symbol at the beginning of each new bar set means or something? I just wrote in a flat symbol in front of it. I checked to make sure it was tuned and everything.
The note is not open if it's a sharp or flat. An A# is the same note as a Bb. If I had written a Bb, you probably would have gotten it quicker. I used the A# because the key is E minor, with the F# and wanted to keep sharps as the accidentals vs flats.
Just imagine a Bb since it's the same note. 😁
Thanks for watching!
@@1stfiddlerman All I knew was where the note was located on the bar is usually open string, but didn't know how to do a flat or sharp on Whats supposed to be an open string haha
@@MrCreed145 I gotcha now..... :)

Is it difficult to learn to play the violin by my own?
It requires effort dedication and devotion but it also does when you are taking lessons. It helps if you look at a lot of online tutorials and join Fiddlerman.com/forum You can ask as many questions as you like there and post your progress to get tips.

You should.
I've been working this for MONTHS! Perhaps it's beyond my reach just yet. The tutorial portions go so fast I can't keep up. Your playing is beautiful. I'll keep trying. Thanks so much for all the work you do on your videos
Sorry about the speed. I'll keep that in mind on the next tutorial.
@@1stfiddlerman you can click the settings, the gear icon and you can adjust the speed manually.
I have no idea. Are you referring to youtube?
@@1stfiddlerman yes if you tap on the screen while the video is playing you will see the settings option.
Hey Stacy, send me an email address if you like. I’ve annotated the sheet music for it so the finger positions and the “high” and “low” positions are shown.
Lovely. I love Harry Potter.
Me too. Thank you
Can I have a sheet music for this because it is hard to memorize it?
And also for and I love her?
And also for and I love her?
