    Thank you for helping the SS community get quality products at a great price! I also loved that your dog decided to "relieve" himself during the filming your video, we have 4 dogs in our house, LOL!
    I still can't believe that was from the 3rd story, awesome cast and fish! Glad you shared it!

    TFO rods are becoming my favorite fishing rods. I own 3 of them all 7' foot long (L, ML & H) and planning to get the M later this year. I fish on fresh and salt water. I have cought crappie, peackock bass, large mouth bass, lady fish, blue runners, tarpon, snook, snaper, grouper, jack crevalle, shark trigger fish and many other species with these rods.

    I've played around with a small assortment of Penns, Fenwicks and the pro series TFO rods. I like my Fenwicks, but I love my TFOs. Now all of the rods that I regularly use are TFO Professionals paired with Diawa Fuego Reels. Mine range from medium light to medium heavy, 7' to 7.5'. I love them all and the Fuego really is a great match. Luke got this one right for sure!
    One pro that was missed:
    All TFO rods are color coded by weight. (notice the gold band just above the grip in this video, indicating it is a medium weight) This makes it easier to quickly grab the correct one from a line of otherwise identical setups.

    Love this rod, being a beginner my cast were sloppy with other rods. My casts with this rod are deadly accurate. It’s light, and I love the full cork butt. You can cast all day with this rod and your arm won’t wear out. Oh, and it’ll cast a mile.

    I bought one myself. 7’6” medium power. I pick it up more often that I do my bull bay banshee. Absolutely love the thing as it casts light lures way way out and its very sensitive. Not quite as sensitive as my banshee but extremely close. The only gripe I have is it seems to be a little prone to wind knots. That might be user error though. Still, it’s my favorite rod and I am 100% going to buy another.

    I agree on the bait keeper. I prefer that on all my rods. I can see the con about the shorter handle but for me that only matters with heavier bait casting rods for bass where I use both hands to cast heavier jigs and baits a longer distance. With a spinning rod, I don't see that as a distance. I'm going to pick up one in the combo you have with the Fuego 2500 and we'll see how it does!

    I've got a handful of these in varying powers and casting/spinning. I decided to try another big name and got a couple of them. I end up going back to these that are less than half the price. They're heavier than the competitor, but that doesn't bother me in the least. TFO also has lifetime warranty where this particular competitor offers 15 years. Think I'm sticking with my TFOs!

    If buying a new rod, go with a larger manufacturer (st.croix, tfo, etc.) or go with a custom build rod? What’s the pros and cons? Thanks in advance!

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  2 роки тому

      We don't recommend going custom unless you know exactly what you are looking for in a rod and the rod builder asks you which reel you are going to be using. If either of these are no, then definitely go with a bulk manufacturer.

    Great rod! I love my 7’ft Medium. The short handle length, compared to other 7’ft rods, is also a HUGE plus in a kayak. My only complaint is the location of the hook keeper, I like the open style, but the location allows the line to catch on it occasionally.

    What would pair better with the 7’6” M.. bgmq2500 or bgmq3000?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  2 роки тому

      Those reels hold a lot of braid, so I go with the 2500 since it's a bit lighter than the 3000 and still holds more than enough line for inshore fishing.

    Love them picked up two a few months back. Paired with a daiwa bg 2500. I notice you guys prefer other daiwa reels any reason you don’t like the BG series or don’t promote it as much? It’s the only salt water reel I’ve had so I’m curious.

      I've been enjoying my Shimano Sedona Fi 3000 reels for 2 years for kayak fishing. They can be used for salt, but never mentioned. I'd rather lose a $75 reel off my yak than a more expensive one. Same with rods.

    Another great video! I have 2 questions for you:
    -I know what's stamped on them, but for throwing 1/8oz stuff like ned rigs, do you recommend the medium or medium light?
    -How does this pro series compare to their tactical inshore series?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  2 роки тому +1

      If I'm throwing 1/8th oz lures mostly, then I'd go with a ML version. But in general, most of the saltwater lures are more than just 1/8th oz after factoring in the overall weight of the hook plus the soft plastic lure. So I pretty much always use the Medium power version of this rod.
      The Pro series feels very close to the TIS version while being much less expensive, so I mostly just stick with the Pro version to save money without sacrificing much performance.

Curious to know if you've fished the ML?

      @@reelestatejeremy That's the thing, i dont REALLY need another finesse rod... I held the 6'6 ML at my local tackle shop the other day. Felt a bit heavy and clunky in hand, but I was just holding some high end st croix's before that. @@Saltstrong Completely disagree. I just got a 7' TFO medium and compared a 7' Triumph M to a 7' Triumph MH blanks at Bass Pro. Huge difference in weight and stiffness between the Triumph.
