    Greetings Sir! I have 2 mics and I want to use them in my RCI 2950 radio, the first mic is an Astatic 575 M6 (6 wire cable: shield, red, black, white, blue, yellow) and the second one is a Cobra CA-71B (5 wire cable: shield, red, black, white, blue). How can I wire both of them to my radio?

      Hi, Im just seeing this now after 3 weeks. sorry UA-cam is not giving me the notifications for comments for some reason. I have done those kinds of conversions before. it takes a bit of research into how the different mics and radio are wired. So finding the wiring diagrams will be crucial. and depending how the switching works might need some rewiring. It can get a little confusing depending on your skills but not impossible.

    Good day sir and guys!
    What way if i dont have soldering iron Hmmm? what type of wire to solder and if i dont have soldering tool? What another way can do?

      Without soldering you are out of luck. Repair is not possible without a soldering iron.

      @@patthesoundguy ah ok, but if theres a lighter and wire can do because i've seen like that hmm its applicable?

      There used to be a solder that was available in paste form that worked with the heat of a lighter but I would strongly suggest not using it unless it was the only cable you had left to make the show go. I would never use that for a repair for something that you need to be reliable it's not worth it. All it takes is one bad cable to bring 1 million dollars worth of gear to a screeching halt on a show

      If you are really need a way to solder you may be able to make a solder iron like the old days. Heat a nail on something and then get either rosen core solder or some solder with some separate flux and try and make that work. Might not be ideal but might work. Only if you are really stuck would I try that. You would have to be super careful not to melt the plastic of the connector as it's very easy to destroy it with the wrong heat.

    how to repair microphone's broken wires

    • @patthesoundguy
      @patthesoundguy  4 роки тому +1

      That depends on the microphone for sure. And what wires are broken. Shure mics like the SM58 type they very often get the wires that connect the XLR plug to the microphone internals broken when the plug comes loose. I may have to make a quick video to show that.

    Heard of flux?? ;O)

    • @patthesoundguy
      @patthesoundguy  6 років тому

      That's rosin core solder. I don't use extra flux unless its necessary like repairing boards and some cold solder joints or corroded cable connections that refuse to solder. And if you look close the connection is smooth like the factory solder joints if not better.
