Oh my god I’m so late. It’s been so long, and I completely missed this video somehow. 😬 But anyway, I’m here now, so- *The Shy Guy.* A classic SCP that’s technically just another flavor of “thing that will kill you”, with its effects even being similar to 173’s, just inverted- instead of killing you when you look away, it kills you when you look at it (only its face, but still). But it *does* open up some interesting questions; unlike 173, it seems to be somewhat sapient, or at least has some basic emotions, judging by the screaming when you see its face, and the fact that when it’s not out murdering people, it’s sitting around crying in its cell. This implies that something might’ve *happened* to it involving its face that caused it to start rampaging when people looked at it, instead of it being an instinctual programming thing like with other monsters. Now, *what* could’ve happened to a nearly-8-feet-tall indestructible superhuman that left it so scarred is a mystery unto itself, but it makes the most sense out of all the explanations given for its behavior (in my opinion, at least). One of the more popular theories I’ve seen (though, granted, I haven’t seen many since I don’t look into 096 that often) is that it used to be a normal human who got turned into a monster and lost its mind in the process. My personal theory is that it could’ve been a bullied child, or someone else with big insecurities, and the transformation twisted those insecurities into something violent- Mr. Illustrated’s “049 vs 096” is a big inspiration for this, if you want to check it out. Otherwise, not much else to say- tall, thin, Slenderman-esque monsters are a dime a dozen these days.
