I wonder how this would work day ahead and heated up?
@@beth7437 Just fine! :)
OMG! My wife just made this...
Tastes so good it makes me want to slap my grandma.
This is so good it would have brought tears to a glass eye.
So good it makes my tongue want to slap my brains out.
This will make your liver quiver and your bladder splatter.
So good it’ll make your tongue jump out and lick the eyebrows right off your head.
Why are you talking like that it's so annoying
Baco is the FIX to all our veggies in the south, it makes everything better
For those, new to cooking, who were wondering what a half pound of bacon is, it's the amount left after cooking 1 pound of bacon and sampling for quality control.
Yosssss
Eric Anderson YEP!
Gotta check thoroughly
My uncle once said, "if I cooks it, I eats it" when questioned about the almost empty plate of bacon that was once a pound.
LOL!!!!!!!
"other than the bacon, this is pretty much a vegetarian dish" . pure gold. yogi berra would be proud! 🤠
beautiful
Cheese is vegetarian
Except for the cheese cream and bacon it’s basically vegan
If you just leave out the corn - its a great low carb dish.
hahaha
Chef John makes a hamburger.
'Other than the hamburger, this is pretty much a vegetarian dish.'
LOLOLOL
😂🤣😂🤣🤪😜
Patty*
next person to like this summons the devil :P lol (pirsqed's comments i mean)
lets start with a half pound of bacon. Too funny!
“So yes this was a complete waste of time”
“You kno wat I regret nothing”
That’s is a mood
I’ve come to the conclusion that Chef John is the greatest person who ever lived.
Poor Angus agreed
Chef John and the BBQ pit boys!!! Both of them are incredible. IMHO
Definitely top 10.
Close enough!
I love his humor and he's a great chef. It's just unfortunate that he's going to die young if this is his idea of a vegetable.
I'm just here for the obligatory shake of cayenne!!!
The ol' shaka-shaka!
And the freshshsly ground black pepper
Isn't this the obligatory shake of cayenne Channel?
The "mandatory" Shake of cayenne. If your Chef John.lol😆
Bonus time... you got two shakes.
I'm going to be honest - I hit 'like' just after starting every Food Wishes video. I never wait to the end. I've never had to go back on my choices - "I regret nothing"
Me too. I have been lucky to find the very best channels for all my interests. Food Wishes is the only chef's channel I subscribe to.
Absolutely. 😁
Your videos make me smile ear to ear whilst my mouth watereth.
I love how you just ate it right out of the pan, keeping it real.
Just made this for Christmas morning 2020 and every.single.person LOVED it. Before the meal was finished there were already a few serving ideas for when I make this again:
-Served atop rice; this suggestion came from my granddaughter, who exclaimed “This tastes like corn chowder and is now my most favorite dish!”
-Served with corn chips, like a dip.
-Funneled down your throat; this was unanimously agreed upon by everyone who loved ba’corn!
I don't understand how Chef John's videos can get any dislikes at all. It does not compute.
I love Chef John's videos, especially how he narrates each video with a particular inflection that makes him sound like he is reading the longest run on sentence ever.
So good Chef John; at the point where you add the cream, instead pour in your favorite corn bread batter, bake til golden brown, that's the way I do it for "Mexican Corn Bread"
I will make this!
Served on tortillas with Salsa Verde and cilantro. 😋🤯
Too bad the dish is korean.
@@j3ffro738good thing you can do what you want with food
The best chef! Makes fancy stuff and casual food... Makes them all look easy and doable. Maestro
Making it again for the millionth time today. Thanks again, John!
Just started watching you Chef, and Everything I've made of yours ( like 20 recipes so far) have been absolutely amazing!! My family all watch your UA-cam channel together and all my kids say, " And as always, Enjoy!" Loud... Lol
^be this guy

Chef John.. i stumbled on to your videos in 2019, but over the last year, your videos became my daily moment of zen. Some days, i would need several moments of zen, so i would follow you down the rabbit hole of mouth-watering recipe videos. Your pleasant, calming food videos helped me forget about how bad things were this year.. even for just a couple minutes a day. My husband and I made it through. We were both vaccinated and to celebrate, i made 4 of your recipes, a pork loin, with asparagus, ba'corn, and a boston cream pie for dessert. Im happy to say that all 4 were homeruns.. a grand slam if you will.. but this ba'corn dish was unbelievably delicious. Thank you for getting me through 2020 and making me a better cook in the process.
As a child my mother would make fried corn....bacon....sliced tomatoes...fried potatoes with onions..cornbread. Best meal ever!!!!
Chef John you have done it again. I'm a long time fan of your channel, having tried several dozen of your recipes over the years. I've recently gained a girlfriend in my life, who happens to have a gluten intolerance. I have a newfound love for dishes like this that are gluten free. Thank you for your years of service and your love of your craft. They help poor souls like myself find love in the arms of a gluten free gal who loves food.
Looks absolutely delicious! Love all the different flavors from the ingredients.
Its like an amazing, hearty, loaded corn chowder. Throw that over a heavy buttered baked potato
Pretty much a condensed version of one I make that everyone seems to love.
Or pasta. Mmmmmm, pasta!
I'd decrease the corn and put in more small pasta for a casserole
Just made this. Absolutely amazing.
Chef John, this is an absolute winner. I have made it a half a dozen times and everyone who has it, loves it. It especially goes well with a nice ribeye steak! Thank you for putting out these recipes and the videos.
A true chef will say "I regret nothing"! 💗
"This is pretty much a vegetarian dish....so let's add half a pound of bacon to a skillet" 😄
This is a lighter version too!
I tried this exactly per your instructions and WOW. Absolutely amazing! Thanks, Chef John!
I just bought a Victoria 12" cast iron pan because of Chef John. I scrolled through multiple screen shots of videos and then found this. My wife will taste this, tomorrow around 6pm, and say, "Chef John?" Thank you, Chef!
By salad he means garlic bread, yeah? Or maybe more bacon?
The 2 best cheese combos for this dish would be provolone and swiss gruyere, my fave is the swiss gruyere, a little pricy , but well worth it, it is delicious.
I remember when I first watched one of his videos I was annoyed by the way talks but now I am converted I was a young relentless boy to think his voice was annoying im a new man now and everytime I go to sleep I hear a small sudden voice of this man right here thank you
Every recipe I watch from this man has Cayenne pepper in it, got a love it.
Other than the bacon I'm also pretty much vegetarian.
?
But theres cheese😅
@@danitapaner4454 Vegetarian is not vegan, vegetarians eat cheese.
Bacon is a seasoning in my book!
Which I'm sure you let anyone that will listen know every chance you get.
Yumm. Serve with tortillas or tortilla chips. Add a shake of habanero sauce. I'm ready for dinner!
yes
Seems like a good use of those corn scoop chips.
I certainly do agree! 😋
Dude, I love how you really explain each step
Incredible dish...savory, more than sweet. And I too ate this all by itself and myself.
Ba'corn... More like Bae'corn ;) ;)
I'll see myself out
Just made this. Amazing!!
So much positivity in one place! I just love watching his videos even when I know I won't make half of these recipes.. 😃❤️❤️
This I can make. This I will make. And I will be famous among my people. Except the vegetarians, but that's their loss. Thank you Chef John. Thank you indeed.
Made this a couple times over the summer. Absolutely loved it. Bringing it to family Thanksgiving to introduce something new, almost vegan, to the feast 🙂
I make this every year for Thanksgiving now. Family loves it!
I have made so many of your recipes Chef John they all come out tasting amazing every time. Thank you so much.
Just made this with spinach and onions and had it with some ciabatta bread .
Was awesome .
This is definitely a keeper. I have all the ingredients, so I see this dish appearing at our July 4th BBQ. Thanks, Chef!
Omg your the best chef EVER!! I’m gonna try this fir sure!!
Oh. My. Goodness. This corn recipe is a thing of beauty. Thanks Chef John!
He discarded bacon grease?!? Unethical, immoral, and illegal where I live.
I know, I cried when I saw that. In every single video where he's called to drain the bacon fat, I never have, and not once has it resulted in a dish being too runny or greasy.
@@WobblesandBean But you need some bacon fat in a jar.
I only keep pure bacon grease. After you've used it to cook something else it'll pick up the other flavors which will not necessarily be desirable for the next thing you cook. So I endorse his discarding the excess bacon fat in this case.
@@misteryman526 I wanted to say that but couldn't put it together. Tx.
There's no such thing as too much bacon grease
OMG!!! I felt like I was gaining weight just looking at this dish. =P
I think I need to go do some elliptical now LOL
That looks so incredible!
Oh my that looks amazing
I wonder how it would be with Parmesan looks DELISH
The older you get, the more sing-songy your voice becomes, chef! 😂
Just made this and it is awesome!
I made this adding just a little bit of white cheddar as well. It was exceptional and so wildly simple. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
OMG that looks soooo good!! Only a recipe from the States could be made lighter by using heavy cream. LOL
Life is easier since I put all my Chef John recipes in a folder called 'Chef John.'
Yeah, putting them in a folder marked "Gordon Ramsey" would probably be confusing.
@@larrysmith2638 Ramsey is crabby. I like a happy kitchen.
I made this today. Everyone loved it.
I have liked Everyone of your recipes I've tried. Thanks for making me look like a good cook.
This looks amazing
Bacon and corn... You have my ear... And no, that joke is not hammy
Daniel Curren it is pretty corny though!
@@hayleerodriguez2711 maybe I shouldn't use my name. I wouldn't want to be stalked.
Daniel Curren you should probably take a break from the username. But let me know when you’re bacon business
Yes. YESSSS!
I would report all of you, but there's no category for awful puns.
Put in some rotisserie chicken and it would be the bomb
Great idea, Plus adding the chix would make it more of an entree, as without the chix chef john called it a side dish, but the chix would make it much more flavorful and filling my friend,
Oooooo or double up on the piggy deliciousness and add pulled pork!
@@stevelogan5475 Hehe I like that you call it chix. That's super endearing.
I think heavy cream, bacon and cheese make it filling enough, but chicken does sound great!
good idea, use one pound of corn instead of two pounds, then add chicken.
I will definitely be making this dish! Looks delish
That amazing moment when a video shows up right when your starting dinner AND you have some chef John creme fraiche
I love a vegetarian dish with bacon!!
This dish is definitely going to be on the 4th of July menu 😀 Thanks Chef!
Lol, I just wrote down the needed ingredients I need to make as well.
Funny, it's the 4th of July and I just said this is tomorrow's dinner!
omg ..how absolutely delicious ...love love bacon and corn together ..a winner chef john..
I'm making this tomorrow! Yum.
Chef John, where did you get my grandmothers recipe(joking) it looks very similar to her creamed corn, which was delicious...
“Jason Bourne of cheesy bacorn”… I look forward to each pun.
just wanted to say thank you for being a comfort Channel during this pandemic. cheers
This looks sooooo delicious
Looks delicious! Do you have any recipes with Hominy?
Ooohh! Just substitute the hominy for the corn! That would also be delicious.
You do love your cayenne powder. I personally prefer chipotle. It really is six of one, half dozen of the other, since after all - you are the sheik of your pepper shake...... ;)
Found this magnificent dish just in time for a Thanksgiving side dish, thanks you.
A delicious dish, thanks for sharing!
This needs to be served with some "herb" lime rice and carnitas in a tortilla.
You have done humanity and corn a favor by rescuing this recipe from whoever said to add mayo and condensed milk.
IKR? I replayed the video to see if I heard that correctly!
I think I'd like to try it that way. My Hispanic students got me to try mayo on roasted corn (along with chili powder and cayenne), and that turned out great.
I think it depends on the ratio of mayo to condensed milk. It would be very rich but not necessarily in a bad way. I think it would be worth a try!
If you try the original thing in Korea you will realize it does not need a rescue of any shape or form....
The Mayo and sweetened condensed milk version is on point. I haven't tried it with heavy cream.
FANTASTIC flavor. Super simple - everyone loved it! The Jalapenos give this dish such a nice touch! As well as mixing two different cheese types.
Definitely gonna try.
Mmmm, yum. Though I would like to try this with chicken instead. Cover the corn with fried chicken bits and cheese, under the broiler... oooh, yes. That's going to happen.
reminds me of maangchi's corn cheese!
hocus pocus I think it is inspired by it
We made this tonight & it was exceptional! Made it exactly as written. Thx, Chef John!
That looks amazing!
What’s this? I love both bacon and corn (what normal person doesn’t?) and am literally writing this all down as I watch ; )
I sent this video to all of my veg friends because it starts off with its basically vegetarian and literally starts with a giant pile if bacon dropping in a pan lol
ok so I made this twice ...first time using a good quality dutch-oven and the results where.....I LOVE YOU CHEF JOHN!....then I made it again in a heavy cast iron skillet..with two decades of seasoning....the results where....this is now my go to side dish for a large holiday feast or just a really excellent one-pan meal....thank you so much
This and some scoops, amazing
made this today. it turned out beautifully. thanks so much for making me look like I knew what I was doing 🍑
You will feel reborn when you dig into this ba'corn ! 👍
I did this recipe today and everyone loved it. Thx Chef John!
Made this for thanksgiving today and it was a hit 👌🏽
thought this was a korean dish? Great recipe tho! Looks delicious as always:))
Yeah me too. Maangchi's corn cheese. Which I have made. And it was good.
Maybe a spoonful of gochujang!
Strangely they serve this in Japanese restaurant in Korea...😁
Chef John: *discards 1/2 tsp of bacon fat*
UA-cam: you are hereby sentenced to death
made this last night. turned out great
Literally making it right now!!!!
Yo, mah main man Chef J, what would you substitute for bacon in a veggie recipe? Mushroom, perhaps?
Mushroom actually might be pretty tasty. Or a firm tofu (probably marinated) that you crisp up and add back in before baking.
Add some smoked paprika and soy sauce too.
Bacon
There is also soy chorizo
There is vegetarian bacon. You are covered, if you use that.
If you flatten & panko coat a chicken breast it makes a nice dinner with some store Hawaiian bread
Just tried it, it was amazing 💕
Yumm that looks really good
