True, though in this episode he's sadistic, too.

And poor Chip takes the brunt. Good scenes, but a bit unsettling. Guess that means the actors did a good job.

Can't wait for another HD episode. I think there's only about 7 more colour episodes left for you to put up Tooleman, have enjoyed every minute. I still hope for a bluray release. If Land of the giants is ever spruced up will you please put them up on UA-cam?.

Glad you're enjoying, and you're right - season 4 is winding to a close. Don't hold your breath on Giants, though. Sadly, I don't think HD editions are in the cards. But I would love to be wrong.

@@TooleManTV It would be great if you could upload some Hogan's Heroes episodes. I watched Hawaiian Eye and 77 Sunset Strip on your channel and I really enjoyed watching them. Also, if you're going to be showing Combat, could you please also upload Twelve O'Clock High? Thanks.

    Another crazy Nelson episode?

@SteveYoi812 I have grown to appreciate the show for sure ((I was a star trek kid) because of this channel, but I sure would like to see the espionage shows a bit more. Ones without leprechauns and Richard Basehart going mad, though I have a real appreciation for his skill now. I mentioned in another comment section how good he was at playing an alien duplicate of Nelson, seriously channeling Richard The III so well even though dressed and made up as Nelson, he practically vanished into the role so different were his deliver and mannerisms. So I can see why Irwin Allen wanted more, but, you know, I insane Nelson a month might just be my limit.

I was going to make a joke about Taco Tuesday when the line about ‘dangerous gas’ hit, but I got derailed by a thought. It’s interesting that they lacked a key character, a traditional character in many ‘aboard ship’ movies and tv series. No ships cook.
Now it’s probably a good thing. Ships cook is usually comical, a well meaning buffoon yet is steadfast when the chips are down.
The format really can’t fit a guy like that into the mix. Even if he was a recurring extra like Doc, there’s really no way to work Cookie’s latest experimental dish failure in the middle of a giant undersea spider trying to eat the Seaview.
Still, I could see a ships cook fitting in with the first season ‘spy time’ tone. We’d see the officer’s wardroom/mess (I imagine that would have been the observation nose room, I recall a few episodes where they used it for that) and some reoccurring cast working dinner service.
    I really overthink this stuff, don’t I? 😁

Steve, you are not overthinking it. You're writing the scripts for Voyage season five!
Henry Kulky provided comic relief in season one of Voyage as Chief Curly Jones. He was a tremendous asset to the series, and it's a shame that no other character was created to fill the hole he left when he died suddenly. I don't think there was ever a cook in the series, but the movie had a chef and a waiter delivering a tray of food when the sub started rocking and rolling. We do hear a few references to the dinner menu in Deadly Amphibians and one or two other episodes. A huge opportunity was lost by ignoring obvious punch lines in The Lobster Man, which needed help desperately.

A lot of Voyage fan fiction has a great character, Cookie. He appears in almost every story. Very likable and loyal to the crew.
And I bet he cooked a mean Lobster. 🦞 😂

@@marilynkozak17thanks MK! For all my years in media fandom I never twigged to VTTBOTS ‘zines, other than Barrs Seaview Soundings. Irwin Allen fandom was kinda on the down-low to my memory, too many fans and fandoms were hung up on the…negative excesses? of the various series, the juvenile aspects, and ignoring the creativity and fun.
I can well imagine a cook being in fanfic, if nothing else it allows a ‘self insert’ character without it being a ‘Mary sue’ .
I do wish these shows had a more mature, college age maybe, fandom back in the broadcast days. Fans who could have done ‘first level’ documentation with visits to 20thFox, chatting with the effects people and so on. Everything we have today are just broken pottery shards and rusted tools, subject to debate and misinterpretation. Star Trek was lucky in this regard (but stay away from the Phaser prop discussions! 😁)

@@TooleManTV yep I remember Curly, and visually he would be my ‘model’ for Cookie (or Heartburn, or Hashman or whatever). I think ‘Ski and Patterson generally got what comic relief moments there were, other than the unintentional ones, like when Chip looks like he’s just had enough.
The guy and the tray dumping was from the movie, iirc. Same as the hull breach and flooding scenes.
I noticed in the early 4th season episodes, it really looked like they were trying to run the Seaview like a real sub. Chain of command, the checklist to dive and so on. I think they figured out that ‘procedures’ was a good way to fill script time. 😆
