Arthurs death and charcter are so idolised and likeable because his story is basically a Greek tragedy type story. He sees the writting on the wall, he knows everyones days are numbered but still despite that hopes and tries to change his and everyone elses fate no matter how much the odds are hopelessly stacked against him. It really reminds me of Odysseus journey and the ending of Theseus father to be honest. Going from place to place while trying to get back "home" in a place he can finally find piece and like Theseus father who commited suicide cause Theseus forgot to change his sails from black to white to signal that he returned alive.
It has an element of inevidability and represents mens foolish and admirable sense of hope which also is the character of Arthur.

The Karen asking you to dance thing is cool because later Micah asks her or maybe Mary Beth to dance and they turn him down. The coolest detail I recently found is when I found a way into Mexico as John and the Mexican music from RDR1 plays while you ride around.!

    • @AllisonChains64

Wow!! 14th!? Can I ask if you've played some of them back to back? Because I just got the game on Oct. 27th of this year (for my bday that is on Halloween) and I played the story through completely and after the epilogue I got all the gold bars that I didn't get as Arthur and I did the side missions I didn't finish as Arthur and even though I really love John, I just had to start all over again last week after spending so much time playing after the story ended because I just couldn't stand not doing missions and being aimless lol. Also, the story is just incredible and I get so completely immersed in it that I go through some *real* ass emotions lol. Arthur explaining hiw he wants to be laid to rest is why I love writing and writers. In real life things happen and or things happen and it feels purposeful, so in games and other media, we can choose to write everything with meaning. Even if you never were gonna catch that dialog, its cool to see it and being reminded of what happened immediately.

I remembered that dance with Karen when I reached the epilogue so I spent hours looking for her across the entire map after stumbling into everybody else and all you can find is Tilly's theory that she died. Hopefully Rockstar did that in case they want to bring her back with other characters if RDR3 is a sequel instead of tearing my heart in half for no reason

Arthurs death is arguably one of the saddest video game moments I've ever experienced. My first playthrough, I knew he was sick but I thought, ag its a game, he's the main character, no way he's going to die. I actually cried! I love this game so much man!

I can't even hear the last part of Arthur's journey without tearing up, at the start of the game I didn't cry, I don't even know why but now I always tear up and have to pause the video for a good second, this game was perfectly written and played out.

I just have to say I found your channel from these videos and this one was seriously the best and the last detail that was done was my favorite one that I noticed when playing the game my first time, it's what made me cry when he died. Thank you for showing me the dialogue again so I can remember 👍😂

Thank you! That dialogue had a big impact on how I viewed each of their journeys in the game.
I highly recommend this amazing video that Roger Clark shouted out recently. It also changed how I look at Arthur's journey. ua-cam.com/video/_NN1DOta7P0/v-deo.html

I love Arthur's awkward little bow at 7:40 like he's not really sure how it goes. I feel like that's the sort of thing that really only could have been done with motion capture. Idk that an animator creating from scratch would have been able to capture that awkwardness so faithfully.

Man it’s not fair with Strauß.
He was a good member, one of the first ones. He just did what he could to provide for the gang, we always put the money in the camp box, not give it to hin. That’s all he could do, accounting, and with that he tried to give back to the gang.
I was so sad when Arthur threw him out, and he said but you’re my friend…
And later on we get to know, he was caught and didn’t tell a word and died there because of the torture..
Strauß is an overlooked character, I like him very much and think Arthur didn’t treat him fairly..

Arthur is not a complex fella, and bad with words. I think he was both trying to save straus from the escalating violence and redeem himself. Sure he comes off as brash and angry but I think its because he's angry with himself for being a brute in order to get the debts. Had the situation with the gang not been so dire and had arthur not been so close to death himself it might have ended on a better note. But as it stands, thats the way it is.
