Always learning more from you in 5mins, than from others even if I watch their entire videos over and over again. Thanks Karl...signing in for your full courses any time soon!!!
Great information Karl!! The courses on the education site have been awesome!! Thank you again for sharing your gift!! GOD bless!!
My pleasure!! Thank you.
Just checked out your website after seeing this video and I'm blown away. Great video, super helpful. Thanks!
Thanks you very much Karl, I always recommend that the behavior of light be understood very well, it is very interesting what you mention about how a certain type of light can completely change the psychological perspective of the observer.
I follow your videos from years and always are awesome.
Thanks Ivan
Super helpful! Love the video. Great information in a very easy to understand format. Thanks for this!
great info as always, when i know what type of light i want or what look i want i find that its easy to then get the image/look i want, The hard part is having an object or idea then trying to think what type of light i want or what will be best.
Very true!
Very useful video that covers a lot with less than 10 minutes! So glad I found this channel 🤠
I like the closing for the sale so much in this video.
Awesome!
Fantastic. May be the KING of UA-cam instructionals.
Watching the clips one after another and learning with one Speedlight and softbox. Still it's getting better by days. I've been using huge mirrors to use it as a fill light as I lack for light sources. You could try too who got budget problems.
Such sage advice. You’re the man on this topic.
Thanks
@Joseph... here here.. the man is a pro in everything he does... ... pleasure to watch!!
Yes something the most important part in Photography, I do admire your works, presentation and finally you have been great hope always inspires and motivates so well.
Thank you.
Very important skills to have in the professional world, presented so concisely! One of the best channels on UA-cam 👍
Appreciate that
Great summary as always. Here's a somewhat related topic on which I'd love to hear your thoughts in a future video: I always try to make photos that are well lit and well designed, but what I often hear -- especially from social media coordinators -- is "We don't want the pictures to look too slick or fancy because we are going for authenticity." So what goes into making photos of a high technical standard that still look "real" or even maybe a little grungy?
Thanks. Yes it's a hard thing to achieve 'real' images that are actually carefully crafted, i'd say the key component especially in lifestyle shots is the right balance of artificial and natural light, the control of the colour and lighting direction.
Just picked up 2 tall 2 medium and one small light for 50 bucks. Sure its older but im sure itll help get me on a good path to learning how to do excellent photos. Thank you for your video
Great video Karl . Couldn't agree more about the importance of light.
Cheers 📸
I found your channel a few weeks ago, and it's been extremely helpful! Thanks for doing these videos :o)
Glad you like them
Thank for the comprehensive analysis, your videos helped me understanding the theory par of flash photography a lot.
Great to hear
Thanks Karl. This video confirms what I hv learned regarding the basics of lighting
Great to hear, cheers
Great stuff Karl, the power is the mind and if they listen and learn they will share their mind.
👍

Again, a superb full of information video for photography lovers. Thanks a lot Karl BUT wish you will now come out of STUDIO LIGHTING and will discuss NATURAL LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY too, there are very few videos on that and yours is desperately needed, thanks again.

Marjan Chanakoski "Always learning more from you in 5mins"
I learn more in the first 0:36 seconds! There are 7 images at this time mark, each worth studying. With each image I try to understand his whole lighting setup. Truly professional.
Good refresher course. Thanks.
You are welcome!
Thank you Karl. It is great information which help me.
Very welcome
👍👍👍👍👍...... as usual, my mantra is: camera 5%, lens 15%, the rest is light and how is used/controlled.
Yes 👍
Very true! Before I went digital, in 2008 there was a guy who was shooting models with the most amazing light. He was using old White Lightening strobes and old Sunpak and Metz flashes, but he understood the 3-4 lighting set up and got amazing results even I can't duplicate!
@@iunderstanphotography2780 see the work of some so-called "Strobists" like David Hobby for instance, they were and still are able to create interesting light set-ups with nearly all kind of strobes or speedlites even with cheap and elder second-hand gear, I still use my old Metz and Nikon speedlites from the analog era
So true Nilo wise words there (Retro Rob)
5% camera, 15% lens, 50% light and 30% editing skills
Good information; thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Glad it was helpful!
This is very helpful sir. Thank you!

Wow. Thanks.
There are a lot of youtube photographers, tons of self proclaimed pro photographers, then you have Karl Taylor and you understand the difference. Simply put if the others are pro, then he is like the master lol. Love his videos, always so much information, and presented in a professional manner .
Thank you very kind.
Good tutorial once again!
Thank you! Cheers
Well idk. I've never shot anything with speedlites and I've signed up to learn more about it as it seemed exactly like the info I needed. It's been the most crazy study ride in a week I've ever had in my whole life, and I can frikkin guarantee this man knows what he's talking about. I've learned so much in just a little amount of time, which is exactly what I needed to make a photosession happen with no studio and no risks associated with going somewhere to take pics. The most expensive thing I've purchased this week was the profoto stripbox to make a rim lit portrait and yeah it performs great if you know what to expect. It can also be absolutely useless if you use it wrong. Everything else is just a cheap chinese stuff but you CAN make it work for you. I also have white walls at home so I can either use them or cover them up. Man you can just use a piece of paper as a reflector or diffuser if you know the basics and it'll improve or ruin your pic. You CAN jump from zero to hero if you just learn the basics and start experimenting. Hell you can do a good portrait with just one single speedlite if you know how to! Thanks Karl! I needed this knowledge asap, and your website and courses are like a ... idk, it's the most efficiently compressed knowledge you need, yet Karl makes those tutorials with no cuts at all, he just does it in one shot, sometimes even live, and everything he says there is relevant and important yet easy to understand even for a complete homegrown newbie with some 12 year old camera and a pair of speedlites(got the second one just recently while planning for the session).
He doesn't teach you how to take this or that pic the best way, it's his way he shows there. He teaches you on how to use this or that tool and the tricks associated with using these tools. The rest is up to you. This is exactly what I needed to rocketstart to the artificial light photography galaxy.
If you're out of time, this IS the course you want! After that just go and experiment and you'll learn on the way.
Thank you Konstantin for joining and thank you for your comments about what we do.
Amazing value on all your videos
Glad you think so
Hi Karl, I really appreciate all the videos you made. I’m learning tons from them.
I actually have a question though. How does the amount of light affect the shadow? For example, if I change the distance of a light from the subject by 1 stop, but compensate it by changing the strength (amount) of light by 1 stop, what difference does it make to the shadow or the image? Would it change the harshness of light or light fall off? Since I don’t have necessary gears with me, I keep simulating this within my head and some drawings, but I couldn’t come up with the answer.
Anyway, thank you so much for your hard work!! Hope you have awesome holidays.
This will give you the detailed answer you are looking for - karltayloreducation.com/class/understanding-inverse-square-law/
Karl you are awesome ! Thank you from Russia from all photographers
My pleasure!
Excellent. I must say, in order to learn photography, all one needs is a camera, a decent lens and a subscription to KTE. I have a request Karl, if you can accommodate the same. Can you show how to shoot large groups of people, like a family instudio? Thanks for the knowledge you are imparting.
Thank you Tushar. This may help you although they're shot using natural light: bit.ly/family-group-portraits
This is true. Karl's courses have upped my game so much.
Amazing content. I think I will be signing up just please try to add your social media on your page. People will try to follow and look at your work. Bless! 🙏
Useful ❤️ thanks ☺️
You're welcome 😊
Super helpful
Glad it helped
Smart man
MIND-BLOWING KNOWLEDGE
Thank you.
As usual, Karl, very useful. Thanks a ton.
Cheers from Mother Russia
Many thanks Nikolai
Thanks sir 🙌🏻
Welcome 👍
the legend dropeth the knowledge
😊
Very nice images Karl:) for web do you recomend using 10bit mode on EIZO or 8bit to edit the images?
Thanks again!
Hi John, I'm afraid I've no idea what my Eizo/computer is on, I just plug them in and use them.
@@VisualEducationStudio ok thanks karl..but i quess what i wanted to ask is should we edit photos in 10bit on photoshop (if the display supports it or 8bit is fine:)) ?:)
Thank you sir ..
Most welcome
When shooting a model or product with a light close to them does it end up in the shot and you crop it out or do you choose a lens to compose the image without the light in frame?
I have no clue as I mostly do wildlife photography but it looks like in some of your videos that you're set up where it looks like the light will be in the frame.
I do enjoy the videos, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about all types of photography even the things I'll never shoot probably.
Hi, take a look at my instagram account, for example the orange motorbike or the porsche car and then swipe to the right.
There's no substitute for spending hours in the studio playing around with a simple setup with different modifiers and gaining knowledge and confidence. I wish I could get more time in a studio. I get a certain amount of experience then over time, forget what I've learned.
You're right there.
@@VisualEducationStudio I must say Karl, that your knowledge and teaching methods are second to none. Really inspires and helps me as I fumble my way through!
This great sir. Please I need to know more
I don't have to say words, better, better a leson.
Thanks
Welcome
Hi. I have a question.Witch one use camera?
Question about lighting and portraiture, specifically, if the job entails hair models from a salon. It is portraiture, but the customer wants the character of the cut to be represented, with the additional appeal of the model to add to the overall presentation of the image. Many years ago, I worked on a photo shoot with a salon and the models were a mix of real models willing to acquire a new look, as well as hair clients who had spectacular hair, received a great cut and were willing to step up for a photoshoot. The question has to do with any extra lighting you would suggest to help fulfill the needs of the client's product.. how would you approach this kind of a job?
That's a far too involved question for an answer here i'm afraid. Some of our content on KTE might help or ask your question over on one of the appropriate videos there and I'll do my best to answer.
@@VisualEducationStudio fair enough - I appreciate the value you present, and the direct and honest information. I’ve learned something useful and immediate from almost every video.
Deborah!!!!! ❤️ so random to scroll through and see her face.
Ah yes she's done some great work for me, you can see some more of them here - karltaylor.com/
Imagine that Morgan Freeman had a british accent. Learned so much! Thank you! Subscribed!

Karl KNOWS light, ya'll. I've learned so much under his tutelage.
Thank you.
🎉😊
Effects of lightning how to control light what emmotion will it convey
So which lights and softboxes do you recommend?
😉
Learned more in 5 mins then 2 years of school
Hi, I can't open the web of Classes & workshops
Why not? Are you on our website?
😍🤩☝
i want to meet you once sir
Sir I am not able to use my Indian VISA debit card to subscribe to your monthly plan. Please help me out .
sure thanks for considering us, you can try paypal
@@VisualEducationStudio I don't use creditcard as of now , do couldn't use paypall aswell , let me know if there's anything else i can do to enrol
Why do they ask you? Because a lot of us don't have the money to test all of the lighting possibilities that you can experience. That's why.
Do you really think Karl is using his lights in the best possible way in this video? I think it looks a bit of to be honest
He's the guy you think would be shooting all Apple products.
This guys daughter has the best instagram feed I bet.
Great video, really makes me want to get some cash together for karltayloreducation
You can buy a great camera, and/or great lighting, but you can't buy.....a "good eye". The HOW to "use" lighting. Effectively.
👍
This is too much information without enough demonstration. The information is great, but difficult to learn. There needs to be more examples instead of so much talk.
Yes that's absolutely correct as this is actually an advert for our main lighting classes on Karl Taylor Education where all of the information is provided and shown in depth.
seem like over explaining the obvious and missing the important infos to sell courses ....
Yes we said the same thing ourselves a year ago: ua-cam.com/video/cp4RrSYQ2Kg/v-deo.html
Thank you!
