Sigiriya is not just for the views. The rock itself is one of the oldest formations in the Earth. The Sigiriya archilogically points to be a Merchant City - sitting side by side with the capital city at the time (which was more religious). The city contained entertainment and nightlife. Its not just an escape for Kashyapa.
thanks for all the rec's ladies, I'm trying to get all the recommendations as I'm heading to Sri Lanka this year. and its coming up quicker than I thought. Happy to subscribe to see all your adventures!
I think you guys missed the most valuable parts of Sigiriya. It is not about beauty or vies. It has rich historical value. How did they build a water system? How is the drain system on top of Sigiriya made? Its marvellous engineering is pretty amazing.
I think it's a pity that the tourism authorities are not interpreting these wonderful places better. It's wonderful to see the visitors doing all the publicity.
If you're wondering why the entry fee is $36, it's because you're about to explore a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most remarkable places in the world. Sigiriya was constructed between 477 and 495 AD, and even today, some questions about the site remain unanswered: - How did they pump water to the top of the mountain? - How do they transport building materials to the top? - How do they accommodate a large population on a jungle-covered mountaintop? These mysteries add to the allure of this incredible historical landmark.
Hello! Does anyone know if there is really a risk of flooding in Sri Lanka in the next few weeks? I am trying to pack for my Sri Lanka vacation and the forecast says chance of flooding. Praying that’s not the case. I am so excited about the trip, which would be really sad if the rain was as bad as they are forecasting.
The tour company is called Nice Lanka Tours, I’ve just put a link to their Facebook page in our description. Our tour guide’s name was Sam and our driver’s name was Dhana. We highly recommend them! Thanks so much for watching 🫶🏼
Hi! Of course he did 😊 we were just far too hot and tired to recite any of it 😂 besides, I think we were too taken aback with its sheer scale and beauty!
We spent roughly $2500 AUD between the two of us for 8 nights excluding flights. We definitely think you could do it a bit cheaper - because we were a big group we paid extra for a bigger van, and had the van with us the entire time. If you used a few more trains you could definitely save some money if needed! 😊
We did know this - we felt totally fine while we were there, but we also didn’t flaunt our relationship while there either. It also helped that we were with a group of friends, so blended in a bit more! We did a bit of research and Reddit reading before going and from what we read it sounded like as long as we didn’t flaunt our relationship in public or anything like that, then we would be okay. We also were with our guides majority of the time rather than out on our own which also helped us stress less 😊
Don’t worry about it. You are definitely not going to end up in prison for being LGBTQ in Sri Lanka. Even though SL considers it as culturally inappropriate, we are not strict about it like Arabic countries.

Everyone is allowed to visit the Pettah red mosque, there are lots of female bloggers who have taken video inside.
Oh really! We were told that women weren’t allowed! 🤷🏻♀️ thanks for letting us know, and thanks for watching! 🫶🏼
Can you please provide the # for the tour van driver you guys used?

Did you ladies felt safe in Sri Lanka as a homosexual couple? Did you know, being LGBTQ in Sri Lanka is illegal. You could be sentenced in prison 😨
We did know this - we felt totally fine while we were there, but we also didn’t flaunt our relationship while there either. It also helped that we were with a group of friends, so blended in a bit more!

You couldn’t sentenced to prison being homosexual in Sri Lanka

There are Pride parades in Sri Lanka you idiot. Nobody has been sentenced to prison for being Gay
And another cool video under very hot circumstances! Great work! It's time to make Mr. Al Go sweat now...
And... Thanks Katie!
Cmon Algo!
Hehe yes thank you Kaitie!! 😂
