Oh, thank you so much, Gilly! I really appreciate your kind words, as I work very hard to make my videos (and patterns and books, too) as helpful and useful as possible. Your kindness made my day :)
Just want to say what a great resource your videos are for weavers! I had watched part of this a year or so ago when I first started with the peg loom; now I find myself weaving a 2' x 3' rug so I thought of this video (and the one on advancing the weft). They have been a BIG help with my biggest peg loom project so far. The idea of doing the overcast stitch to hide the contrasting warp color at the ends was especially helpful. Thanks again, Noreen!
I hope your husband appreciated your hard work. If he didn't you can always send it to me... I am just beginning my weaving journey after a 47 year hiatus. I learned basic weaving in H.S. Now, in my sevond childhood I am beginning over. I am amazed at all that is on UA-cam. I am looking forward to this adventure. Thank you for your videos.
LOL Thanks, Jaci, and, sorry, but he loves his mat, so you're going to have to weave your own :o) I hope you have a wonderful time with your weaving and your second childhood!
did a lil math, not starting today lol. got about $300 more roving, superbulk, and worsted weight wool yarns to buy. 7'x8' is a helluva starter project, but i plan to store the loom+project on hooks up high on the wall in the hallway where it won't be in the way. the 8' loom is intimidating and i don't even have enough pegs shaped for it yet lol. very neat technique for finishing the woven ends!! it also gives me an idea on what i may do to embellish after the double damascus knots are tied!!! much thanks for your sweet demeanor and robust knowledges!!
I really strongly advise against making your peg loom so wide. It will be a nightmare to advance the weaving along the weft. You are much better off to weave narrower sections and sew them together. And thank you so much for your very kind words! Happy weaving!
Thanks! It's not art for art's sake, but I've found your instructions very helpful in constructing my own peg loom to weave mats for the homeless out of plastic grocery bag waste. This Damascus Bound Edge technique will allow me to finish the edge that is not looped.
Just bought two of your books from Amazon. It seems you can use little looms for excellent results in many projects big and small. I have a Mirrix loom, but have not used it because the warping with a shedding device is a pain and I lack patience. I also bought weaving sticks and will use them soon. You have inspired me to try these small loom techniques. I’ll let you know when I get my books to try your techniques. I love this video. Thanks again
Thank you so much for your lovely note! I appreciate it so much! I hope that you will enjoy my books. By the way, if one of them is Innovative Weaving on the Frame Loom, I have totally fallen in love with the Saffron loom from Mirrix, so highly recommend it. It's direct warping onto pegs/teeth and is infinitely adjustable. Sweet little loom! Happy weaving!
Lay the panels side by side and clamp them together with binder clips or clothespins. Stitch them together using this technique: ua-cam.com/video/1CgInjP_ApA/v-deo.html
I made a scarf for my first project and was afraid the warp thread would break. I only uses 2 strands of yarn. But it was OK. If I could get it through the pegs , could I use something like paracord ? I haven't tried the multiple strands of yarn you used on this project.
Paracord will make the weaving very stiff, so that will have an impact on whether or not you want to use it. If you want to go ahead and use paracord, I would recommend tying short strings in loops through the holes of the pegs, and then thread the paracord through the loops instead of the holes of the pegs.
Hi Beth G, No I haven't woven a full size blanket on the peg loom. I've woven many shawls, runners, tapestries, scarves, bags, jewelry, toys and countless other things on the peg loom, but not a full size blanket. If I was going to weave a full size blanket, I would definitely weave it in panels and stitch them together. BUT- I won't be doing a blanket, I have had very bad experiences with animal companions damaging blankets. We have a small dog that destroys quilts. About 15 years ago, I wove a queen size blanket and then our greyhound tore it up completely- he seemed to be simply intoxicated by the wool! I wove a full size blanket as a wedding present, using 4 panels of my triangle loom. I hope that the bride and groom haven't had any issues with cats and dogs making mayhem with it! I am wary of weaving blankets now. Shawls.... yes.... blankets... no way.
How about this Mantra assuming you already know you are working from left to right unless of course you are left handed then it would be reversed..over, thru, tie, left up...less words to remember... lol Thanks Noreen will be trying this!!
Curious - how mich yarn do you think you used for this project? I don't plan on doing anything this big....just really curious! :-) Also - really looking forward to your book coming out.
Your tutorials are superb...very easy to follow.
Many many thanks, needless to say I have subscribed.

Hi Noreen, thank you for sharing the way you finish the warp ends it made it really neat. its a lovely mat. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Deb b :o)

Thanks so much for helping other people, Daniel!
After tying the knot, did you pull the white fringes into the carpet with the knotting needle? Sorry, I can hardly speak English.
Beautiful mat .Can't wait to get to this stage .Thanks so much
Thanks, Brenda :) Happy weaving!

What is the name of your book? Its 2023 now, so it shouldve come put already!
Peg Looms and Weaving Sticks and yes, it's been out for a few years now and is available world wide and on the internet
Do you wet finish before or after tying the damascus knots?
It all depends on the project, so sometimes I don't wet finish the piece and sometimes I do. Tie the knots first.
How do you join the fabric in order to make a large blanket??

I used 15 balls of yarn that are 85 yards each/4 0z each. It's heavy! :)
So beautiful!!!
Thank you!
This video shows how to weave all the patterns that I wove in the mat: ua-cam.com/video/KMWqNSHB-rw/v-deo.html
17:24 how does one stomp gently?
