Alisha is basically criticising the education system in Ireland because she learn Irish since the age of 4 and many of us leave school with very little Irish, even tho we do big exams with a high level or Irish when we’re 18/19. The majority of the country don’t get taught the language properly.
There are now hundreds of Gaelscoils in Ireland where students do their full education through Irish and come out of school completely fluent. I think this is a very old-fashioned view of how the language was taught.
The gaeilscoils were always there and those children are fluent, no doubt. But the rest of us? Our conversational Irish is a disgrace for 13 years of eduction in the language.
Go Tobann is basically mocking how Irish is taught for so long in schools but so many people cant string a sentence together, Ailsha uses common Irish phrases like, Can i go to the toilet, suddenly, and counting numbers
I’m in love with Ailsha! Her song is so good and would be amazing on stage! Any song from this selection is good apart from the boy band… no hate but Ireland wouldn’t have a chance of qualifying if they picked them.
Having a boy band would be a very Irish thing... Choice for people who are spooked by Go Tabann and Doomsday Blues. I enjoyed Isabella, but it may not be memorable enough.
You would think, but there’s a pervasive belief in Ireland that “our song was good but it’s all politics, or it’s all a joke” yada yada. We need to take responsibility for our bad choices and choose better. Just hope Ireland gets that this year.
I am so so so so excited to see Bambie Thug's staging. They've really thought through the concept not just for the Irish selection but also for Malmo. That is the song I'm personally most hyped about as an Irish guy. Go Tobann would be great to send too, I want to see both of those on stage. I think Erica Cody is the safe option, but I like the song. It'll be fine. Just not the male artists please :) We've done that before, not again. As you say on Bambie Thug, it can elevate or flop but I have very high hopes. For me personally it's between Bambie Thug and Ailsha. Ailsha has the ingredients eurofans have wanted from Ireland forever - Irish language and traditional sounds made contemporary. But I actually prefer the Pagan vibe of Bambie Thug and the lyircs (it's very minor) of Ailsha in Irish do grate on me a little. But it would do well I think. So Bambie or Ailsha please, but if the Irish public isn't ready for them yet, then Erica Cody would be a safe option
@@ullarajala4784 Yes, but really depends on how many girl bops there are overall. and the diversity of genres. For me there's a good hook, and I know she is a pro who can work with cameras unlke...cough...last year..and a dancer too. And there's Irish in that song too. So....yes it's comfortable and safe choice but as to qualification it wouldn't be in the bag unlike Ailsha and hopefully (stage dependent) Bambie. It would be more of nailbiter. No way is it totally out of the realm of possibility though. It'll be like NL or Georgia or Estonia last year - about 40-60% of people will rpedict it qualifies. So, for Irish team, safe, because it's seriously considered on merits and the song is good enough. The performance will send it one way or another. I'll stop rambling now
Unpopular opinion: Go Tobann is a chaotic song with some Celtic vibes! I don't get it, but can appreciate that others want something different from Ireland.
Go tabaan and doomsday blues are the ones. If they do it right (for once) it'll be a spectacle and people will remember them big time. If they don't go in then i give up on us entirely in Eurovision 😭
Bambie thug for Eurovision! We need something fresh and exciting. I do like Ailsha (and I think a lot of the Eurofans do too) but I still think it’s an albeit messy but “Eurovision ready” song as evidenced by the key change and basic usage of Irish instruments and language. Bambie is a more seasoned artist and I believe they can deliver this well live.
Go Tobann by Ailsha is definitely the one! ❤️ We need to take the ultimate risk and send this banger of a song to represent the Emerald Isle in Eurovision 2024! 💚🤍🧡 It’s everything a modern Eurovision song for Ireland should be! 🙌
Isabella Kearney is my favourite, her voice is very special and beautiful; her song is calm, elegant, but energetic and catchy at the same time... Reminds me of some Dido songs. ❤ It also sounds great in the acoustic version.

'Go Tobann' was really let down with the performance. It was packaged incorrectly. I get the message, but literally the performance was like a school production done on a very low budget. Quick note: Bambie Thug identifies as non-binary and uses the gender neutral pronouns they/them. Other than that: It's Go Tobann for me! I want the Irish language in ESC & this song mixes it with English, but also combines traditional Irish music elements with modern pop/rock. So perfectly & kinda the Irish answer to SHUM!
