I had to stop coloring my hair cause of high toxic in coloring Ammonia made my face swell up and my hair is Black with white I like it cause it reminds me of highlights in my hair. Tawra your hair looks fabulous
I loved growing out my natural color! I kept my hair in a short bob while it was growing out. It took me 13 months to be dye-free. It's been 4, maybe 5?, years now. I love not having to worry about roots and upkeep. It's so freeing.
Girl you are pretty no matter what color it is! It still looks really lush and thick. Cannot tell you have been having hair loss. We would never know if you had not told us!
Count your blessings. My mother-in-law told me if I couldn't go to the hairdresser, whether it be money or not, then if she were me she would go get the cheap drug store stuff and color it myself. She is 75 and swears no one will EVER see a grey hair on her head. In fact, she said if she dies with grey hair I better make darn sure the funeral parlor dyes her hair or demand a closed casket. She was not joking at all. I am just not that vain anymore. I have been through so many longsufferings in life that my hair color doesn't matter to me anymore. If some folks don't like it then they don't have to look at me. Same for the rest of me. If someone else is so vain they live by other people's rules then let them suffer with the burdens of it. I just don't care anymore and thank God for getting me to today. I've earned this crown of grey hair!!! 👑My Wisdom Highlights!!! 👸
Not that you need my opinion, but I think its tacky past a certain age to dye your hair. If you're in your late seventies and eighties, there is not a person on the planet that thinks your hair is naturally that color.
@@kempfreehold9450 my mother in law does look good for her age. She easily looks 15 years younger. Of course, she and her sisters went as a sister trip to an esthetician to have their eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed on. They got a discount going together. Smart and totally something I would/am considering just for the lessening of fussing over makeup. I do wear a tinted moisturizer at my age because in my 40s I developed Rosacea and have a natural redness anyway to my face I so personally dislike. Again, I don't care what others think. I just don't like it. I don't cover it while at home because the Aveda brand I have found that works for my sensitive skin is so expensive (to me anyway).
@@tonip9844 precisely her business, I agree, but her telling me I should color mine is not her place. She says want she wants to everyone and anyone though. You are fortunate that you appear to have a normal quantity of or perhaps even thick hair. So, going “gray” on you looks fine. I’m glad it’s working...that’s a real money saver! Due to heredity, my once super thick, dark hair started thinning in my twenties. Baldness runs in my family...including thinning of the female’s hair. So, with now super thin hair in my middle years and a part as wide as the Mississippi (!), along with my hair bypassing gray and being white as snow, I look quite bad without my color job. But I certainly would just let it go if I didn’t look so pathetic “natural”. Thanks for the update!
Hair stylist here🙋. A deep conditioner will help. I like Nexus "" Emergency ". Also, I would go ahead and get the brown color cut out. Your grey is so pretty💖
Hi. Shimmering Lights shampoo by Clairol. It's for blonde or silver hair. It's a purple shampoo. You can buy it at Sally's beauty supply. It works really good. You'll like it.
All hair is beautiful, no matter what color! I am currently going through chemo at age 37. I wish to have my hair however, it is falling out. I would love to have your beautiful hair no matter the color. We take for granted the most important things in life, such as having hair. Don't sweat the small stuff such as color. Beauty is not superficial. Continue being humble. :o)
My transition took almost 2 full years! I get more compliments on my white hair than I ever did when I was coloring it every 6 weeks to cover the grey/white! Honestly I wish I had let this happens years ago instead of wasting time and money on coloring it!!
Your silver hair suits you. Your skin is luminous and it accentuates it. You don't look old at all. I have seen 20yr women bleaching and then coloring it silver or platinum. So I say why can't we sport our hair color too! Mine is more white. As for hair loss, collegen. I started taking hydrolyzed collegen 1 and 3s. I also started making my own bone broth. I drink it regularly and of course its perfect consumed in homemade soups. There is a difference between bone broths and soup stocks. My nails are even noticeabley thicker and my thinning hair is slowly going away. Much love and hope it helps.
I started losing my hair, was very tired so the Dr did labs and my D was very low even with taking a daily supplement. Now I take a prescription high dose D once a week and my hair grew back where it was falling out. Your hair looks great! You always have it styled so nice too. Love your cookbooks and your UA-cam channel!
I'm 6 months into my grey grow out. Mine is in layers and one more hair cut will get the top. The back still has about 3 inches but I don't have very much grey back there. I haven't minded it a bit. You seem to have inherited your mother's beautiful grey. I love it.
My hair was falling out terribly. I got on thyroid meds and collagen supplements and it is really helping. I did have spots that the hair was so thin you could see my scalp
Love it! I did the grow it a few years ago. Falling out hair.. mine fell out too. Had my thyroid checked thyroid issues run in my family... As it turned out I needed thyroid medicine. Cant hurt to get your thyroid checked.
That is what I was going to say. Mine started falling out after menopause began. I don't know what can help that unless it's some sort of hair product that gives a lot of body to make it look like there's more there than really is.
I have been rocking my gray hair for 11 years. ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓 Collagen, helps my hair and nails more than biotin. Helps with bones and joint, gut health also!
You look beautiful. I also went cold turkey 62 weeks ago! The health of my hair improved so much that I didn't care at all about the demarcation line. I also am not as silver as I thought I would be and I'm saving so much money. I hope the following are helpful tips because I also experienced hair shedding a couple of years ago. 1) Shampoo your scalp; don't worry about the rest of your hair because it will receive the shampoo as you rinse. 2) Apply conditioner to lower half if hair and ends only.3) Don't rub your hair; that only breaks the hair. 4) Use a microfiber towel for your hair or use a t-shirt. Regular towels are too rough for the hair and cause breakage.5) Comb out wet hair from the bottom up. Love your videos and your cookbooks are terrific!
You have great skin and no wrinkles, so no, the gray hair doesn't make you look older. Took 2 years to get to a place where I now get so many compliments on my gray/silver/white streaked hair. You look so young it's going to be great on you. Your going thru hormonal changes more than likely. As the old dead hair thins out, the new hair has a different texture. Blessings beautiful.
I tried that too I made it till a month ago and had to color my hair. But I do my own hair for years since I was 18 years old then I had it weaved for 10 years, then that didn't cover enough so I died it blond I used to be a brunette. I was getting salt and pepper. I am salt and pepper now if I let it grow out but I have a huge circle on my crown that is just pure white. So other than looking like a clown with crazy hair I colored it blond again. I guess what ever. All I can say is we sure do take our hair for grante when we are young.
Tell your dr about your hair falling out. I started loosing mine 5yrs ago and did not mention it. I took vitamins of everything with no help. I was almost balled before I realized it . It was because I was going thru menopause. Please let your dr know that way u dont end up like I did. Blessings to you and your family.
Hair falling out is a nutritional deficiency or medical. Thyroid, metabolic, hormone issue. With your disability(sorry forgot which 1) if i remember it could be an absorption issue.. I'm sorry don't remember them all.
I did the same thing but put it up until I was ready to cut it. (2 yrs) I don't miss dying it at all, not to mention the expense. For the fallout,... Use Knox gellitan (spelling) a few times a month. It helps for hair fallout, flakey skin and split nails. Love ya !
Love your hair and the gray is what I call sparkles! I lost a lot of hair when my thyroid was to high from Graves disease, most of it came back, but my thinking now is I am happy just to have any hair....lol
I think it's beautiful. I decided to go grey as well and I think I like it better as well. I used to have mine done at the salon and I hated seeing my roots, so that was a lot of money being spent out on getting a cut and color plus highlights about every six weeks. So now I'm saving money, saving time in the chair, and I really like the softness of my hair since it's not constantly being dried out by chemicals all the time. I use a purple shampoo and conditioner to avoid brassiness. I don't know if it would help with hair falling out, but it's great for gray. One that is on the pricier side is made by Loma. I use it sparingly and I go as long as possible between washings. Loreal also makes a purple shampoo at a fraction of the cost, so I kind of rotate between. That may not have helped at all, but I wanted to encourage you that your hair is gorgeous! You and your family are always encouraging to me!
I transitioned to my white hair during 2020. I didn’t even plan it, I usually have short hair, not too short, we were in quarantine, no beauty s hops open, no stores to buy tint, so I let it grow, during those days, I looked awful. When my hairdresser could open her shop, she called me, and she could give me a haircut , did nothing else, and in two additional cuts, I in about four months, my now is almost all natural. I must say that I look older, but wow, it is wonderful not to have to worry about white roots!!,! Every four hair washes, I use a purple shampoo, and that’s it....
You actually have beautiful thick hair, which makes the gray easier to accept. My blonde turning gray is ok in the color transition, but my hair is super fine and thin. That makes it traumatic for a woman. The texture has changed on me too. What used to be silky and straight is now whisky and turns frizzy in spots. So frustrating. If only there was more thickness, I wouldn’t care what color it became! Lol In years past, when I used color and not highlights, it improved the texture at least. What’s a gal to do?! But you look great!
If it’s not your general health (hormones, nutrient deficiencies) then it could just be underlying scalp issues that result in local inflammation and hair loss. I switched to Eucerin urea fragrance free shampoo. I had atopic dermatitis and allergies to common shampoo ingredients, which I mistook for dandruff for years with lots of hair loss.
I am 16 months into my gray transition and my hair is falling out a lot also. My thyroid is okay and it was suggested I try a daily collagen. I just started this so i don’t have much input yet
If you haven't already, you might want to have your thyroid checked. When I started having issues with mine my hair fell out like crazy. The grey is beautiful! There are lots of modern shampoos that are blue that really bring out the highlights in silver hair.
I love your hair! I decided to stop coloring (semi-permanent color) a few years ago and was ready for a rough transition. To my utter disbelief I have only two gray hairs it turns out, 😊 who knew?! I'm almost 50 and I was just so surprised there were not much gray yet. I'm so glad going all natural. Have a great day!
I grew mine out this past year. I’ve been coloring mine for over 30 yrs. at about the 4th month I had my hair person lighten the ends so it didn’t look as bad and at the 9th or10th month I had her cut it all off. I hated the 2 tone look. My colored hair was dark and my natural was VERY white and I was tired of looking like a skunk. It was the best decision I’ve made. I just wish I had done it sooner. I missed the salt and pepper stage, I’m almost all salt! Now lol
Tawra you wear the grey very well! I think it is beautiful on you. I understand the shedding frustration! I shed all the time but spring and fall for about a month I shed even more 😳. I would always think I should be bald with as much hair as I would loose. That never happened thank goodness! I started using Vital Proteins collagen peptides about a year and a half ago. I still shed but it seems to be less and my hair is so healthy! I wear it long and used to get split ends, I no longer have split ends and it is so silky soft! Might be worth a try? Thank you for all you do!
Having the same issues regarding hair loss... Perhaps in denial...the silver strands seem to capture my eye 🤷♀️! Your crown and glory suits you perfectly. I've noticed that men are more complementary. 🤔 My husband as well 💖
OMG I am going to do that too! i started to have a lot of gray hair at 8, and I have been dying my hair more than 40 (not 14) years. Time for my head to relax.
I too have grown my colour out and now all the dye is gone. I've also been cutting my own hair since last March when the lockdowns started and have kept it up. I have curly hair and find that it looks ok and it's saving me a fortune. Your natural hair colour looks fab and totally suits you.
Old hair dresser here...It’s most likely not falling out, but rather breaking off. It’s quite normal to loose about 100 hairs every day due to the normal growth, fall and replacement cycle. If you are experiencing more than that it’s more likely that it’s breakage. One thing to keep in mind about gray hair (of which I am staunchly in the sisterhood of natural gray. I LOVE my gray hair!) is that with the loss of pigment also comes a loss of strength, elasticity, and even thickness. If you wear your hair up frequently that will cause breakage and especially if you put it up wet. I would suggest a great haircut that keeps you from wearing it up as much could go a long way toward helping with the hair loss. Also, you need moisture. Gray hair is naturally very dry and dry = brittle. Moisturizing shampoo + conditioner + maybe get a good moisturizing treatment at the salon and pamper yourself a little. 😉 That should help a lot!
I believe we all look better in the state God wants us to look. I stopped dying mine 5 years ago..I love my color.. I chopped it all off..and them let it grow..
God bless you!! I love you for not caring. You go girl!!! Gray is NOT in my vocabulary, but rock it!!! You look amazing no matter what you do with your hair!
Your hair is pretty in the gray tones. When my hair color went gray, it was the weirdest color. Not white, not black, not whitish gray or gray for that matter. It was like it was stripped of color. My hubby and kids said to go back to color. One being I am so fair skinned, it almost made me opaque. I do not wear much makeup, so that didn't help. Plus, my hair is thin up top leaving me almost bald. So though I love the look of gray on others, for me, it's not a choice just yet. Maybe when I am in my 80's.
Oh man, I have been thru the hair falling out thing. I tried all sorts of supplements & shampoos....but I'm sure it was just hormonal & nothing stopped it. My hair thinned out a lot. I really miss the amount I used to have. But oh well. I think your bangs look terrific....the gray is a pretty shade ....such a nice silvery shade.
Your hair is growing out very nice. I tried for like a year but it just didn’t look good, at all. I saw my high school friend the other day and she’s completely white. She looks great! 🪴🌸
I think it's cute longer. Get some blood work done if you have not recently done any. Have no suggestion for certain brands of shampoos/ conditioners. I do know that protein shampoos/ conditioners help.
Funny. I got your hair in a book that I bought from you. I looked at the hair and went that is not my grey wit that color.. then I watched a video and went... that makes sense. Hehehe
A hairdresser told me if your really sincere about going grey, just go ahead and get a short cut in the beginning its watching it get longer with two different shades that can cause “mental distress” to the woman, I am 72 and refyse to go grey until 80🥰
I love your grey hair! I use to highlight my hair for years to cover my grey. I haven’t had it highlights for 3 years now and my hair is so much healthier. Your hair grew fast in a year. 🙂
Hi, check your shampoo to see if it has wax in it, the build up can make your hair fall out, btw your tempting me to let my gray out, it looks so nice on you
I think your grey hair makes you look younger, Your hair is so pretty, I would get all of the brown cut off. A lot of people take collagen for skin and hair and they say it helps.
I am so glad I went natural.over 10 yrs ago. I get A lot of compliments. I wish it was gray all over but mine frames my face. My hair is falling out too..I can't believe I still have any
Sometimes its the seasons that cause hair loss, I had hair loss for years, and always around the fall and then it stopped....If you get too concerned, get a blood test to make sure your not lacking any minerals.
I take Vitamin D3 w/K2 in it. I buy it on Amazon, from a company called MICRO INGREDIENTS. I took it for health reasons, but discovered it was slowing down my hair fallout dramatically No joke, I take 50,000 IU's a day. I played around with a lower dose and I started losing more hair again. I found my sweet spot at the higher level. I think the grey looks great on you! Your skin is beautiful, no wrinkles on this side of the camera! My Gma used to say, "What other people say about you is none of your business." Wise woman! Ignore the trolls lol.
You look beautiful!! My 2nd cousin was silver at 20, she's in her mid 90's. Her favorite rinse was Fanciful for silver, it removes buildup from shampoos etc.
My hair was "sheddng" and I started taking callogen mixed in water and it quit falling out. You can mix it in tea, etc. too. Its also good for nails and joints.
It looks great and you don’t look older at all honestly. Your face is young! Also I’m sure you’ve looked into it already but thyroid issues can cause hair loss.
Try adding frankincense to your conditioner. I’ve been doing this for the last month and have noticed that my part is more narrow with less skin showing. I’ve also noticed less hair in my brush. Since I can’t use conditioner, I use a small amount of black cumin seed oil as a carrier.
I went gray about 20 yrs ago snd never looked back. Love the simplicity! As for the hair fall out I am going through that myself and a neighbor of mine has the same problem. In comparing notes we both have this since after we had the virus so we think this is one of the little known side effects. As for supplements, I hear Biotin is good to stop hair loss. I have not tried that yet but it’s on my to do’s list.
Take 2 heaping tablespoons of food grade diatomaceous earth per day. Costs about $12 a gallon. Hair and nails grow faster, and it helps so many other things. Give it to your pets for fleas!♥️
My hair didn't go grey, it went white, white. I call it Ice Blonde, lol. I am 82 and I stopped dying my hair many years ago. I have always gotten compliments on the color. I love the color of your hair, it looks good on you.
The grey looks great! I've been considering growing mine out and always felt it was likely to be a hassle. Good to hear you found it fairly easy. That is inspiring! Thank you for sharing this.

Your natural color is gorgeous!! I'm in transition also. I love it. So pretty and easy maintenance!!
Covid was a good time to try new things with your hair....you had lots of company! The grey is very pretty.
What's funny is I had decided to do this before it hit, I was just using up color and then it hit and I was in style! LOL
Thanks for the advise!
It's nice to see that you are embracing the grey. You suit it very well. It will be stunning when all grown out
If you haven't already, you might want to have your thyroid checked.
It doesn’t make you look older you have beautiful hair..... I will never dye my gray hair i earned it...... LOL
Great, looks good on you keep it, hot oil treatment.
The grey looks good on you.
Having the same issues regarding hair loss... Perhaps in denial...the silver strands seem to capture my eye 🤷♀️! Your crown and glory suits you perfectly. I've noticed that men are more complementary. 🤔 My husband as well 💖
OMG
I am going to do that too! i started to have a lot of gray hair at 8, and I have been dying my hair more than 40 (not 14) years.
I went totally gray- love it; I think you will too! My girls are not fans but- I like it!Excited to see your post on Wednesday
Your natural hair color is incredible. You look amazing!
You grey hair is beautiful ❤️
I think it looks fantastic and with your blue eyes you look wonderful!!!
I believe we all look better in the state God wants us to look. I stopped dying mine 5 years ago..I love my color.. I chopped it all off..and them let it grow..
I know about hair loss. Luckily my hair is black so I use black eye shadow to cover exposed scalp. I cringe every time I shower and wash it all out.
I really like it, I think it looks very pretty! My hair is also falling out big time. Luckily I have a ton
I think the gray looks fabulous
I know so many women who have let their gray grow out. My gray is completely grown out now. We’re all beautiful!!
I LOVE it!! I look forward to mine changing! It’s just beautiful 😍
Funny. I got your hair in a book that I bought from you. I looked at the hair and went that is not my grey wit that color.. then I watched a video and went... that makes sense. Hehehe
LOL! Oh my word! I am so sorry!
A hairdresser told me if your really sincere about going grey, just go ahead and get a short cut in the beginning its watching it get longer with two different shades that can cause “mental distress” to the woman, I am 72 and refyse to go grey until 80🥰
Me too!
I love your grey hair! I use to highlight my hair for years to cover my grey. I haven’t had it highlights for 3 years now and my hair is so much healthier. Your hair grew fast in a year. 🙂
Hi, check your shampoo to see if it has wax in it, the build up can make your hair fall out, btw your tempting me to let my gray out, it looks so nice on you
I love the grey on you ,it brings out the colour of your eyes. That grey suits you.
My hair is falling out too..I can't believe I still have any
Use a purple shampoo like shimmer lights by clairol before you cut the brown off, see if you like results
I took it for health reasons, but discovered it was slowing down my hair fallout dramatically
No joke, I take 50,000 IU's a day.
Such beautiful flowers
The natural looks good on you and will be really nice after you cut it
You look beautiful!!
It looks so pretty !!
I love your hair! You are a beautiful lady!
Looking to see your new cut and style.
It looks great and you don’t look older at all honestly. Your face is young! Also I’m sure you’ve looked into it already but thyroid issues can cause hair loss.
I like the gray, I love your Mom's hair
Beautiful garden flowers.
I like the flowers so much
My hair didn't go grey, it went white, white. I call it Ice Blonde, lol. I am 82 and I stopped dying my hair many years ago. I have always gotten compliments on the color. I love the color of your hair, it looks good on you.
Your hair looks pretty!
The grey looks great! I've been considering growing mine out and always felt it was likely to be a hassle. Good to hear you found it fairly easy. That is inspiring! Thank you for sharing this.
