This is the only engine I would order in the truck market today. It has no cylinder deactivation, no stop/start technology, no active fuel management. None of the shit that breaks and causes reliability issues.

I have a 24 Silverado HD with the gasser and really like the truck. I got the LT trim to have a few more options and the newer interior. The 6.6 is more than powerful enough and tows our 7500 camper like it’s not even there. In my opinion, the ride in the Chevy is better than Fords and you don’t have to worry about death wobble.

Thank you. I needed that detail. I have a travel trailer weight is about 6000 pounds. I was wondering how this would do. How many miles can you get when towing your camper?

@@RVboatCURRYLIFEI normally get anywhere from 8-9mpg but it really depends on how fast you drive, going 60mph nets higher mpg’s than 70mph of course. One other thing to add, it take a good 5k miles for the engine to break in to start returning better fuel economy, when mine was new empty if only get 12-14 but now that it’s broke in I get anywhere from 15 mixed driving and upwards of 18-20mph on the highway.

Drove both ford and chevy 3/4 tons with all 3 engines, 6.6,
6.8 and 7.3. Got to drive both the 6.8 and 7.3 with 3.73 and 4.30 driveline.
Ended up with xlt 6.8 with 4.30's which has a deeper final drive ratio than the chevy 6.6. This 6.8 truck is responsive and will not come out of the overdrive gears going up a 6% grade at 7500 feet altitude. As others have commented, the chevy needs a 4.10 option as it just a heavier truck than the ford.

@@calebking1452 On a 165 mile stretch coming back home from the dealer cruise set on 74 the trip meter said 15.9 mpg when I got home. This included slowing down to 35 thru 5 small towns. Haven't tried the ECO mode yet on a hwy trip. Maybe to early to tell, engine and gearing is new. Not expecting 1/2 ton or diesel mileage. Really like how Ford has programmed the 10 spd to the 6.8L. The LED headlights are just fantastic, what an upgrade from halogens.

We have had these 6.6 gas in our BC Rockies oilfield. Mine is loaded with numerous tool boxes and loaded with gear. I climb steep mountain roads from +40 to -45'C, with doubled studded tires and abundant snow. Mine still has the six speed and has 120,000km of mostly offroad work, and had been an wonderful truck. It just idles between 1600 and 2100 rpm no matter the conditions, steep or flat. My work mates have new units with Allison trans, and like them even more. I personally have a Duramax, but would buy one of these if you don't trailer often. Great trucks.

The 6.6L V8 L8T is built on a cast-iron Small Block, enabling it to have long-term durability. Thanks to aluminum heads and direct injection, the engine delivers more precise fuel control resulting in a higher compression ratio of 10.8:1. That enables a power output of 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque (in the 2020 Silverado HD and 2020 Sierra HD), with strong performance at low rpm, where it is needed when pulling away with a loaded cargo box or trailer.
The L8T also features a forged steel crankshaft, forged powder-metal connecting rods and additional high-strength components to provide the added strength and durability demanded by Heavy Duty truck customers.
The L8T replaces the 6.0L V8 L96 / LC8 engine and makes over 11 percent more horsepower and over 21 percent more torque.
Interestingly, the L8T does not use GM fuel saving technologies such as Active Fuel Management (AFM), Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM), or Auto Stop-Start (ASS).

Ford could squeeze a lot of extra power out of it but it’s a HD application. It’s not about peak power but where the power is available. This engine is expected to endure more severe duty cycles. For example the same 7.3 only makes 350HP in motor home applications.
A Power Stroke 6.7 rated at
      445 HP / 1050 lb ft in a F450 is derated to 330 HP / 900ish lb ft in a F550.

This truck is one of the few I'm considering as I may be forced to buy a new one. Gauges instead of a screen style instrument cluster, no AFM or stop/start, normal screen instead of some dust magnet that requires taking ones eyes off the road to use. I feel old saying that [I'm a millennial] but we've all seen the fragility and failures associated with these features. It honestly has most of the same options as a loaded Tahoe from 20 years back save for the moonroof, heated leather. I'm not crazy about the dash, I wish the new dash was offered in the custom with the old gauges and this screen, it reminds me of the GMT800 dash. I did notice if you build one online you can get the Custom with the older woodgrain door panels and a couple other interior things now

Multiple sources including Nissan says that 2024 is it for the Titan. Now I'm not saying its not a good truck because I have a coworker who has a 2017 with 150K on it and he loves it although I can't get past the starter being under the intake myself.

      @stuartmeier240 2 місяці тому

@@slaytanic921agreed. I own a 21 Cummins and a 22 Chevy 6.6l gas. The Ram is the nicest truck I've ever owned and I love driving it, but if I hooked 15k pounds behind both, no one would be disappointed with either truck. The gasser does well. If a person is not regularly towing north of 15k for long distances, a diesel is a waste of money. It will take 500k miles to offset the fuel and engine costs alone. Most people are too lazy to do the math, and have a stigma about towing with gas vs diesel.

The exterior design is not so bad but that interior is downright shameful. I know it is done deliberately to push buyers to more expensive models. To do that at the 60k price point shows just how out of touch GM is with the buyers. I have owned many trucks from both Ford and GM. I have never nor will I ever own a Chrysler/Dodge/Ram. Exterior designs are what gets the buyer's attention. Interior design is what ultimately makes the sale. Looks alone are not enough to bring her home to Mom.

Just so you guys know. Obama administration sold gm to Chinese shell companies in 2009. China owns them. I wouldn't buy any of their crap. They produce all parts in china and assemble in china as well as other places. They produce almost every vehicle in china, no other manufacturers can do that. They have other assembly plants, like I said, it's Chinese. Go Ford or Ram. According to jd power in reliably in overall vehicles, not just trucks, Ram is consistently top 5, Ford trucks are consistently low teens, and gm trucks are high 20s to 30 consistently. That should tell you a lot. Ram actually beat out lexis 1 or 2 yrs recently for first. The reason stilantis gets a bad wrap may be deserved. They put all new untested tech in jeeps and newer vehicles like the hornet. Then after working out the bugs in those vehicles, they put them in Ram. That's why they're so reliable. They should take more time to teat instead of rushing into jeeps and giving them a bad wrap. Fords motor issues with eco boost are solved with the new inline 6. They doubled the fuel pressure among other things. I still don't like a 6 if i you are actually working your truck.
