Omg you are hilarious! Your excitement over samplers just made me laugh so hard. Try Hands across the Seas for some amazing samplers with birds! This video just popped up in my UA-cam suggestions, and now I have to go back and start from the beginning and watch them all. Added bonus you look just like a guy I knew when I lived in San Diego. Now back in the Midwest in IL. I am planning my drive to OH for Stitchcon 2023 and will have to check out the shops you mentioned. There are zero local shops in my area so when I actually get to go into one I am so excited and don't know where to look first at all the displays!
Side note: Stash accumulation is another hobby in itself when it comes to cross stitch! In case you didn't know, you can find frames second hand at thrift stores for your finishes that will help cut down on the expense of framing.
I have an excel spreadsheet I list all my patterns on at this point to try to avoid multiple buys of the same pattern. Sometimes it works lol. When I can't decide what to start next I have them all on strips of paper in a jars by theme. I just pull a strip out of the jar to decide which one is next. Or you could try a decision wheel app.

Hi Mr. Hollick, Finally A Farmgirl sent me to your channel, and I I'm binge watching all of them. I love your enthusiasm, I buy what makes me happy too! It's an ugly cycle, I don't have enough time to stitch all I want because I work, but I have to work to be able to buy all I want to stitch! I went to a retreat in Indianapolis in July, it was the Stitch, etc. retreat with Stitching with the Housewives as the guest stitchers. I can't wait to get to be able to go to another one.
The Steel City stitchers live in Pittsburgh, not Philly. If you drive to Pittsburgh for the retreat make a stop at Keepsakes, it's in Ohio, it's worth the detour. I drove to the retreat from Philly in July and it wasn't really that far out of the way , only added about an extra 40 minutes (drive time, not wandering around the store shopping time). It's awesome, so much to see & so much to add to your stash! Keep making your floss tubes, I've been thinking about trying it but haven't been brave enough yet - Melanie

You are such a "Fun" guy!!! Some of your comments make me laugh. I agree with the statement "across the pond" being weird. I suggest picking one of your larger patterns and work on it on a specific day of the week, and then fill in the other days you stitch with smaller projects. Keep up the videos and happy stitching.

I was just watching once upon a stitch and she mentioned you so I popped on over to see your video. You got lots of stuff, but I think most of us have a buying hobby as well as a stitching hobby. We recently moved and I found my local cross stitch group and went to the last meeting. I love finding a new cross stitch friend.

First, hello Mr. Hollick, The Tiny House Stitcher sent me, she really enjoys your floss tubes and I can see why! I'll be going back and checking out your earlier videos! Second, the steel city is Pittsburgh and I think the steel city retreat may be in Pittsburgh, not Philly, but I'm not registered so they may have moved it to Philly, but I'd be sure before you hit the road! Pittsburgh is probably 2 hours closer to you. :) Third, I love the red bird sampler, I fully intend to stitch those as well -- your work is neat! I have the hummingbird one right now -- for my daughter the hummingbird is the spirit of my mother, who was from Johnstown, which is just outside of Pittsburgh. Fourth, thanks for the tour, I'll be in Ft. Wayne, that shop is great! I'll definitely see if I can stop in -- my sister in law lives there and we're going up for a game, and I'm being honored, along with several of my friends on the women's rowing team from the 1970s, as one of the first women athletes at Notre Dame (it's the 50th anniversary of women at ND and they didn't have varsity women's sports back then). Fifth, I think there is a retreat in Greenwood, IN, I could be mistaken, and a new brick and mortar store -- check with the Proper Stitcher, she went, Stitch, Etc. maybe? Loved seeing all your stuff! I'm not sure if we'll have time to make it to LaPorte, but maybe on Sunday after the fancy dancy brunch for us. :) Oh, but they'll probably be closed....

@@MrHollick Well I was actually the coxswain. But several of the women I coxed are still rowing and competing as the "Golden Domers." One year they called me up because the cox they'd been working with was unavailable for the Head of the Charles so I made the trip to Boston, but a woman who's been coxing with older crews and recently flew herself out from San Francisco do cox them (!) and I was off the hook. Good thing as I haven't been in a boat in decades (and many pounds ago!). BUT some of the women are Erg competitors, including one who owns a coffee business in South Bend, and I believe she places, at least she did a couple (few) years ago -- she's in her 60s now of course, but her name is Jill DeLuca -- Bendix Coffee I looked it up. I googled her and got nothing related to rowing.

Yes, you become quite attached to pieces and there is a little sadness when they are finished. What I do is start something new just before I am about to finish the old. It works! Keep collecting. If you don't get it when you see it, it usually goes out of print!

I have just been checking out your flosstube videos & catching up. My suggestion for your Christmas Eve Sampler is to stitch it with a dark green thread that has some subtle variation to it. Leo & Roxy thread from Evertote or something else. Then still use a yellow but something not quite so jarring. Tone the yellow down a little. I think it would be beautiful! Enjoyed your enthusiasm for your new hobby. Keep it up!
Wow, another Indiana male stitcher. Who would of thought it. Great finishes! Keep it going. There is always a bit of a lag after finishing a project. I keep a few fully kitted projects and pick the one that most appeals to me. A few days of not stitching can easily turn into months.

So much enabling!! I’d do that one Christmas piece but sub in colors suitable for each motif, like green for the tree etc. I’m not a fan of that yellow. So happy to find other stitch friends in the Midwest. Ohio here.

I am a first time viewer of your video. Chrissy from Finally A Farm Girl recommended your FlossTube so I thought why not? She said you were so enthusiastic and cheerful. You really are a happy, uplifting person. I love you red bird sampler and you have quite a haul. I have more patterns than I will ever stitch but I have them and it doesn’t matter. Choose to stitch what you feel like. I have a basket of WIPS and I choose what I feel like that day. I have been telling myself though, to finish one project before I start something new. I’m looking forward to your next video and will watch your others until you post a new one.

Christmas Eve Sampler includes metallic thread so not yellow. Beautiful when completed. Hate stitching with Krenik so look for a metallic thread that will lay better. Take a look at one of the shops you will be visiting.

I stitched The Home of the Free on a light ice blue 14 ct Aida and it came out really nice.
I enjoy seeing your red samplers.
Buying two repeat charts, that’s not bad. Wait until you like it so well you buy it THREE times.
I like the Year of Silhouettes.
Maybe a different yellow as the Citroen makes it look rather dirty to me.
A few friends and I are getting together to stitch at
our ‘Not So Local’, Local LNS next weekend.
When I went to our family reunion in southern Indian over the 4th, I found a shop. Stitches from the heart in Evansville, IN. It is jam packed with all sorts of stitching fun!!! Susan is great and you can call ahead to meet her at the shop if she is closed that day.

Still another Hoosier needleworker who just found your flosstube, and so glad I did! I've been stitching for about 40 years and definitely have more than I'll ever be able to finish. Currently I think I have about 30 WIPS (works in progress) and loads of patterns I haven't kitted yet. My LNS is House of Stitches and love it! I'm only about a half hour away but sometimes just call and place an order. Theyvare always so great, even ordering patterns that they normally don't carry.

Great video!! Love your enthusiasm and projects. I prefer color patterns because this helps me to stay on track - I'm a newbie stitcher and need all the help I can get! Just found your videos! Love your enthusiasm, you said fun about 500 times and I loved it! There’s a saying called sable, or something like that, about stash beyond life expectancy. It’s a condition most of us stitchers have!! I’ve been stitching since I was 18 but I didn’t discover over dyed threads or Lizzie Kate until around 1990. Fell in love with stitching even more after that. Lizzie Kate will always have a place in my stitch life. Love your finish and all your haul. I’d love to see you start the hummingbird one.

Great haul! I’d slow down on kitting every chart bought, though: tastes change and you may find you want to try different fabrics, do colour conversions and so on. There’s no rush to get the supplies. Just a thought.

Hello Mr Hollick, I love your enthusiasm! Wonderful finishes and you pick such great projects. You gave me suggestions to ones I would like to do. I have the Hummingbird bird design. It would be fun to stitch that with you whenever you get around to that. I almost purchased that BBD Christmas one last weekend. It's one that has been on my list as with many of theirs. You did a great job showing the patterns and fabric. The glare wasn't too bad at all. And last of all I hate the term "glamping". People have been using campers/RVs for probably about 100yrs...it's not new so just call it camping. Ha! Well thats my pet peeve. Loved 💙 your video and look forward to your next.

Love the Redbird Sampler. You did a great job stitching it & I can't wait to see it framed. Your FFOs are lovely....I like the frames you selected. So nice to watch floss tube with the male prospective. It is also a great place to make new friends. I enjoy going into the stitch shops and looking at the models. Most times, something just grabs my attention and I have to have it. Heaven only knows when it will get stitched. I have enough haul to last me a hundred years and yet I still buy more! Why???? The Christmas corner in the LNS is really awesome. I'd be there for hours.

Just found your channel - enjoyed all your stitching projects- current and future - I always have several in line to start as I finish something - and just go with the one that pulls me in at that time - and I think we all have a stash of charts - fabric- and floss - and no matter how much we accumulate there is always more to add when we see something we like - because we may need it sometime and won’t be able to get it then -keep up the good work

You won’t stitch everything, your tastes will change, but you’ll finish plenty. If you bought a magazine, paper, it would cost the same as a lot of designs. You can look at your purchases and this alone gives lots of enjoyment. When you are ready for another project it will probably jump out at you. In the meantime enjoy your hobby.

Accumulating patterns, fabric and floss that you could never use in your lifetime is normal. I started only stitching cute patterns on Aida but as I got better I moved on to samplers on all types of things. Just caught your video and I’m glad I did. Great job on your pieces and your video!!

I just found your channel through tinyhousestitcher! I love your enthusiasm! And yes, most stitchers have way more stash than they could ever actually stitch. That book of samplers you held up - I used to have that and I stitched the quilt sampler on the front cover, probably in 1986 or so. It’s still a favorite piece. I had to laugh at your “across the pond” comment, my equivalent is the word “adulting.” I hate when people use it!
