*Giving value is what we should focus for 80% of the time.*
Often times, your followers will even hint for you to suggest them means of supporting.
These practical tips are gems Vanessa.

This is the key Vanessa! You’re sharing a goldmine of resources and I absolutely adore the channel and all of the effort you put into sharing this stuff. I took the time out myself to get to know my audience and build engagement to understand what exactly were they interested in if I wanted to provide MORE quality content. Thanks for keeping it real!

100% agree with you on this one! Lead with value and then people will be more likely to purchase something from you but if you're not giving value then you're dead in the water lol

I love the idea of waiting until enough questions come in because then you know what your audience wants and needs, and it keeps us from having to do the “selling” ... it essentially sells itself if you have built the trust. Thanks!

The way you explain things is so helpful. A lot of the time when people cover these topics, they just seem to talk and talk and by the end of the video, I feel like I've gone in a circle. You do such a great job of breaking down your videos into actionable lists, or solid stories with a beginning, middle, and end while fleshing out all of the details. I always finish your videos feeling like I can do something. I can't wait for your next video! Not feeling like enough of an expert to move forward even a little is one of my biggest problems. I feel like I'm in a weird limbo of "intermediate" where I'm not a total noob but not "expert enough" either. Logically I know that's not necessarily true, but it still feels like there's a wall I'm not allowed to pass yet.

I understand that this is an old video, and you may never see this comment, but I've been searching videos like yours for DAYS and you are AMAZING. Not only to you have valuable advice, and real life examples, but you are so easy to watch. In one of your videos, you said that people want to watch others who are relatable, and like themselves (I've been binging your channel all day) and YOU are that. This is gonna sound silly, but I'm super tempted to check out your boss academy! I'm so grateful that I found your channel.

As a consumer, this is spot on. There's a graphic design/business channel I've been following for a few years now and they give out so many valuable content for free. I trust their knowledge and value what they share. When I browse through their courses I know the money I spent on them will be worth it.

So happy you chose my question/suggestion!! Being sleazy and manipulative is something I really want to avoid... like creating fictional problems or playing on people’s insecurities in order to make then buy stuff 😵
I’m so glad I found your channel and content. For the longest time I’ve been posting content with no clear intention. Just “Hey world, here’s what I can do! Hire me please!” 🙃
But your content has really helped me plan and strategize better, and realize how building relationships is so important in business. Everything you teach is clearly seen in your own methods, I love that you always cite your case as example, just shows how effective it is and what an expert you are. Thank you for all your work Vanessa!! 😊

  • @JacquelineBeaulieu

So many great points in this video. I have a full page of notes! I would personally add the importance of keeping in mind that those who cannot invest right now in paid products and services might be able to do so at a later time. If you have an indicator that they are interested but cannot participate right now for whatever reason, I think it's so important to continue to nurture that relationship and not make them feel bad- it likely increases the likelihood of them participating when they can. In the meantime as you say, they will likely continue to be great brand ambassadors and participants in the aspects of your community that are open to all.

Vanessa! I"m loving your content! Ok, so, my biggest take away is to let my channel bake for a bit longer before coming out with an offering. I'm enjoying the interaction, comments and questions I'm getting from the viewers but I think the trust and my audience needs to be WAAAY further established before offering any kind of consulting. Good news is, my lead magnet is doing well (my downloadable worksheet on pricing and free lookbook). So I think the trust is slowly building. Thanks for this great post because it confirms that there's a difference between never testing the waters and, waiting for credibility to jump in.

Some great tips in this vid (as always): be authentic, relate to your audience and gain trust in order to sell; before you start selling, gain feedback and understanding of your audience's needs whilst you're waiting for the right time to sell. I've recently (3 weeks ago) created my first freebee, with less than 200 subscribers, and I haven't really promoted it, but got my first 120 people on my email list. I don't know, though, whether this result is good, bad or average?.. And secondly, of course most of the people signing up for my freebee were people from India & Pakistan, which is not the audience in general who will be able to buy anything from me, due to economical situation in their countries. Of course I'm having people from US signing up as well, and other countries, but in lesser quantities. So... I cannot estimate/value/measure my results so far 🙄 So I decided to continue testing, growing my email list and then (it might take few months) try to present my paid product(s). Hope this is the right path.
