TLDR for the poison guys is that he can change the tolerance of anything so he increase his tolerance to someone attack making him immune
At least that from what i saw in the episode could be wrong
Basically he controls the leathal dosage of something for example for yushiro askin absorbed enough of his reishi to build an immunity to his reishi making it where he no longer takes damage by his attacks that is one part of his Schrift the Lethal dosage part is basically for example your drinking poison don’t ask why he can control how much you need to drink it for it to kill you another example is he can control the lethal dosage of blood essentially if he drinks enough of your blood he can make it toxic and you would die due to your blood being toxic
Basically for him to use that lethal dosage ability he must consume enough of the substance to build an immunity and then he can do that lethal dosage stuff
Also he absorbed enough reishi from the area around him where he can make the reishi of an area toxic thus poising everyone in the area besides him of course because he must build an immunity
He can't do it from far though. If he consumes your blood, can just make it very toxic and kill you but this hurts him too so he hardly does it.
Yup , basically he can change the resistance limit of substance in him and others .
Like if he skyrocket the limit, he become immune , cause there's no cap anymore .
But to inflict others , he needs to consume the same substance.

And what makes his ability so broken is the fact that he can control ANY substances he had consumed enough including oxygen so he can basically control the oxygen and poison everyone he fought however he didn't use this often just because that's not his style of fighting.

renji was the first to attack him, are you blind? and Rukia's bankai is situational and slows her down so its not like she can use it whenever. The scene was set up that way for other captains to fight, both rukia and renji already had a screentime fight.
