Sadly though, the adaptation of both of them was done poorly, rushing a lot of important/significant moments and details Honestly the best way to truly experience Danmachi and its superb writing is via the main Light Novel series and the branching series as well (Sword Oratoria and Familia Myth)

Fun Fact: Ryu’s vengeance singlehandedly led to the destruction of 27 organizations and caused 4 Gods captured by the Guild to be sent back to heaven. Eventually ending the dark age of Orario. Also, if you didn’t know: The song sang by Saori Hayami, Ryu Lion herself. Fitting for Ryu's past self as Ryulu, one of the three great poets.
If Saori-san isn't recognized as the best Female Voice Actor this season, than that would be such a injustice for her. Hats off to her to bringing this much emotion to the character and to the songs she sang this season. Thank you 🙇🏻♂️ ..
It's going to be a tough competition between Saori Hayami & Rie Takahashi IMO. I like both and they are in almost every anime I watched this year so far.
I love the scene where Ryu saying she was a filthy criminal, but to Bell she was always a righteous champion of Justice which Alise, Kaguya, and the others saw her as.

If he himself wants to avoid killing, that's separate (author not fully committed to the setting to be honest, but that'd be another discussion), but the heroes he looks up to, like Achilleus, would kill in a daily basis so, while not his cup of tea, he still is capable of understanding it for others if there is a reason, and Ryuu had enough reason. Thus, it is reasonable that he can look the other way and just look at what Ryuu means to him, that's all that's really important. It doesn't really affect what a Hero is to him, nor for the story, for we aren't talking of the Hero you are think we're talking in the first place.
This show is criminally underrated. The pure passion put into every scene by the VA cast, culminating in this masterpiece.... Danmachi is by far my favorite anime, and for good reason. Can't wait for season 5 in a few months!!!

Woah! This song really expresses the feeling of ryu during that fight sequence. During that sequence, ryu doesn't have a say, has to prepare to chant her spell and the lyrics are expressing how she is feeling that entire time. Damn
There is simply no amount of mental preparation that is enough to ready myself for this episode. Honestly, I lost count of how many times I've rewatched it. Each time I was swept away by a different emotion, breath ragged and the tears won't stop. I didn't feel the joy when one of my favorite scene was delivered spectacularly, I should. I didn't feel satisfied that the emotions of my beloved characters had become alive and reached the audiences, I should. I didn't feel fulfilled even when many praised the massive passion and love put into this episode, but I should. There's only a void. It was breathless, and I couldn't utter a single word. I wanted to keep sinking and basking in this excruciating pain, in this requiem called heroic deaths.
i cried when Ryuu said "Luminous Wind" after casting the spell during the fight with juggernaut for the first time with astrea familia. like the pain in her voice really nailed the scene. the voice actor did the incredible job. absolutely outstanding. gosh wish i can unsee and see it again.
Honestly I'dont have words to say how amazing was the voice acting of Saori Hayami-san. In this music, in this episode and the whole season. Ryu was my favorite danmachi character since the benning and I'm really happy that this forth season is doing total justice to how superb was Ryu arc in the novel.
It was the best episode of Danmachi this season. It made me tear up. Hands off to every voice actor of Astrea Family. And, a big bow to Saori Hayami-san. 🙇🏻 Wow, She was nailing perfection even while voice acting and singing. What!, A song it is! A perfection. Thank you Hayami-san for so beautiful song.
Man this was a better experience than any I've had so far in watching anime. Seeing Bell genuinely grow into the rumoured hero is amazing, the sound and music design is good too and nothing feels rushed, so when we get those moments where he overcomes hardships it feels rewarding.
Honestly this one of the best moments of all anime for me. Can't thank Saori enough for her stellar VA work and all the passion she through into Ryu, particularly when she was just barely choking out the incantation was amazing
Ryu is now best girl for me this arc. Beautiful and strong, loyal and caring, but made vulnerable by grief and sorrow. All she and Bell have had to suffer this Season moved me to tears. And Saori Hayami what a Seiyu! Wonderful actor, beautiful songstress. Did not know she also voiced Yor. Bravo!
This song truly captures the tragedy of her familia and all Ryu has gone through. From seeing all of her comrades gruesomely die, falling down a hole of despair and revenge, and believing she's failed to live the way Alise and the others wanted her to... Killer work by Hayami-san for the haunting vocals.
I've been waiting for years to see the fate of Astrea Familia, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to happen all at once. The battle with the Juggernaut was actually shockingly violent and traumatic, all the moreso for how quickly the members of Astrea Familia were cut down. I was so caught up in the horror of what was happening on the screen that I didn't even notice the exquisite song playing underneath it when I first watched it, and had to go back and re-watch the episode after finding this music video. Not only the gorgeously poetic lyrics, but the instrumentation and arrangement are masterful. And of course, Saori Hayami is sublime. She is easily my favorite voice actress of this era, maybe even of all time, or at least tied with Kikuko Inoue.
I have so many questions about why Astrea left the way she did, and it seems pretty clear from the story that Ryu thinks she understands, but doesn't. I'm hoping that Ryu escapes the deep floors with Bell and is reunited with Astrea.

@@lqfr8813 What I'm saying is, I think there's a different explanation that hasn't been revealed, yet, and the fact that Astrea didn't rescind her blessing is the biggest clue. in the episode, it's pretty clear that Ryu is begging Astrea to leave, not because she fears for Astrea's safety, but because Ryu knows that she is going to do something she doesn't want Astrea to witness. Ryu clearly isn't seeking Justice, she wants revenge. Astrea almost certainly knows this, but leaves anyway, without rescinding Ryu's blessing, ostensibly because she knows what Ryu is going to do, and approves, even though Ryu is ashamed of what she has resolved to do. Astrea is the Goddess of Justice.
@@gcvrsa if you have not read light novel please dont read this because probably spoiler. . i think theres not much explaination in that situation. the last familia astrea has that time is only ryuu and she is about to do something that will make the guild asking astrea for responsibility. ryuu is the type of person that cannot bear this. astrea simply going along with her request as the last familia . astrea said to ryuu before leaving that she should cast aside her justice but ryuu misinterpret it as if she was disowned by astrea. but what astrea meant is to not grip so hard on her own concept of justice so she can live better in new environment. . on the last battle with freya, ryuu got her status upgraded by astrea after she was told where astrea is staying, and go back to orario with astrea along with her new familia members.
I started watching Danmachi for the memes and ended up crying when this scene came up. Season 4 is pure awesomeness and this song is nowadays a added routine of mine to listen to!

This music coupled to the events in the last episode... Damn, that really gave me the chills. This season really went even beyond the first season in terms of quality and feels for me, it became my favorite of the series.
This is such a pleasant, somber sounding song and fits this scene perfectly with her beautiful voice. All of the instruments are perfect compliments to each other and her voice. I'm glad Im able to listen to such a fantastic melody.
Give Saori an award already! This is one of the best voice acting I've ever felt, she is really delivering everything in this season AND she's also singing in the most epic episode of the series. Episode 20 can not go unnoticed, it deserves something big, don't know what but it does, full of emotion, such a great adaptation, amazing voice acting, great animation and full action story arc. This has been an amazing season, I can only imagine how good it's going to be the end (I think I can no longer keep crying but OMG this end is gonna be EPIC!).

Why I ignored this masterpiece? I was introduced with this anime almost a year ago but didn't watch it cuz I thought its a harem anime. I'm glad I finally watched this. Don't judge this anime with its 1st season cuz from 3rd season onwards till the end of 4th season its getting better than ever. From 3rd season it turned into a very Dark, gruesome adventure anime with heart- shattering plots and ost. And this video of episode 20 S4 is so precious that it'll make you cry. J. C. Staff studio took me by surprised and broke all my expectation. They adapt this anime specifically season 4 so well I can't thank you enough.
Absolutely! rarely do the quality and funding of an anime get substantially better in latter seasons. I think the danmachi franchise is exceptional because it manages to earn huge amount of profits from games and then they could finance the anime with huge fundings, allowng epic episodes like this song. Of course the source material needs to be great, but how many animes origianated from light novels get 4 seasons?
I think this episode is like one of the best out of all seasons beside Bell's fight with minotaur in season 1. Even in a decade s time, I think anime lovers would be rewatching this episode...

魔法を敵にぶつけるでは無く、怒り、悲しみ、絶望沢山の感情を込めた一撃。

これ何が凄いかというと。
この歌を歌っているのが、リュー本人ということ。
アニメのキャラクター自身がこれだけ素晴らしい歌声で唄っている。
アストレアファミリアの皆が倒れていく姿とこの悲しい曲のメロディが合わさって、エモさが、限界突破していました。
そのシーンのバックミュージックをリュー自身が唄っているとか。これが出来ることがどれだけ凄いことか。
こんな素晴らしいシーンをTVアニメで流してくれたアニメ制作スタッフさんたちに拍手を贈りたい。
それだけで、感動せずにはいられない。

This song truly captures the tragedy of her familia and all Ryu has gone through. From seeing all of her comrades gruesomely die, falling down a hole of despair and revenge, and believing she's failed to live the way Alise and the others wanted her to... Killer work by Hayami-san for the haunting vocals.
When the episode start with such a masterpiece, you know it will be the best of the season.

I've been waiting for years to see the fate of Astrea Familia, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to happen all at once. The battle with the Juggernaut was actually shockingly violent and traumatic, all the moreso for how quickly the members of Astrea Familia were cut down. I was so caught up in the horror of what was happening on the screen that I didn't even notice the exquisite song playing underneath it when I first watched it, and had to go back and re-watch the episode after finding this music video. Not only the gorgeously poetic lyrics, but the instrumentation and arrangement are masterful. And of course, Saori Hayami is sublime. She is easily my favorite voice actress of this era, maybe even of all time, or at least tied with Kikuko Inoue.
I have so many questions about why Astrea left the way she did, and it seems pretty clear from the story that Ryu thinks she understands, but doesn't. I'm hoping that Ryu escapes the deep floors with Bell and is reunited with Astrea.

@@lqfr8813 What I'm saying is, I think there's a different explanation that hasn't been revealed, yet, and the fact that Astrea didn't rescind her blessing is the biggest clue. in the episode, it's pretty clear that Ryu is begging Astrea to leave, not because she fears for Astrea's safety, but because Ryu knows that she is going to do something she doesn't want Astrea to witness. Ryu clearly isn't seeking Justice, she wants revenge. Astrea almost certainly knows this, but leaves anyway, without rescinding Ryu's blessing, ostensibly because she knows what Ryu is going to do, and approves, even though Ryu is ashamed of what she has resolved to do. Astrea is the Goddess of Justice.

i think theres not much explaination in that situation. the last familia astrea has that time is only ryuu and she is about to do something that will make the guild asking astrea for responsibility. ryuu is the type of person that cannot bear this. astrea simply going along with her request as the last familia

astrea said to ryuu before leaving that she should cast aside her justice but ryuu misinterpret it as if she was disowned by astrea. but what astrea meant is to not grip so hard on her own concept of justice so she can live better in new environment.

on the last battle with freya, ryuu got her status upgraded by astrea after she was told where astrea is staying, and go back to orario with astrea along with her new familia members.
The description of her emotions was epic.

I started watching Danmachi for the memes and ended up crying when this scene came up. Season 4 is pure awesomeness and this song is nowadays a added routine of mine to listen to!

This music coupled to the events in the last episode... Damn, that really gave me the chills. This season really went even beyond the first season in terms of quality and feels for me, it became my favorite of the series.

This is what I loveabout danmachi, perfect combination of comedy and serious moments, reading and watching the series really feels like a Hero's Epic.
小説初めて読んだ時はまだ、アストレアファミリアの面々をあまり知らない状況だったのもあって、ベル君が助けに来たところの方が涙腺にはきたんですけど、そこからアストレアレコードやアニメで深く知ることや、挿入歌によってこのシーンで今期1ボロ泣きしました😭
This is such a pleasant, somber sounding song and fits this scene perfectly with her beautiful voice. All of the instruments are perfect compliments to each other and her voice. I'm glad Im able to listen to such a fantastic melody.

Give Saori an award already! This is one of the best voice acting I've ever felt, she is really delivering everything in this season AND she's also singing in the most epic episode of the series. Episode 20 can not go unnoticed, it deserves something big, don't know what but it does, full of emotion, such a great adaptation, amazing voice acting, great animation and full action story arc. This has been an amazing season, I can only imagine how good it's going to be the end (I think I can no longer keep crying but OMG this end is gonna be EPIC!).

10/10 episode Danmachi peaked best episode of the entire series
Why I ignored this masterpiece? I was introduced with this anime almost a year ago but didn't watch it cuz I thought its a harem anime. I'm glad I finally watched this. Don't judge this anime with its 1st season cuz from 3rd season onwards till the end of 4th season its getting better than ever. From 3rd season it turned into a very Dark, gruesome adventure anime with heart- shattering plots and ost. And this video of episode 20 S4 is so precious that it'll make you cry. J. C. Staff studio took me by surprised and broke all my expectation. They adapt this anime specifically season 4 so well I can't thank you enough.
Absolutely! rarely do the quality and funding of an anime get substantially better in latter seasons.
I think the danmachi franchise is exceptional because it manages to earn huge amount of profits from games and then they could finance the anime with huge fundings, allowng epic episodes like this song.
Of course the source material needs to be great, but how many animes origianated from light novels get 4 seasons?
