"What is this feeling? I do not want it." Took me a moment to remember where i heard that line before but Savathun said the same thing in a lore tab when our Guardian was having fun with Crow around a bonfire.
It’s love and loss, twisted in such a way that they don’t understand. Seeing humans, Guardians, Eliksni, Awoken and Cabal be….joyous, merry, it hurts them deeply, reopening old memories. To feel a fond remembrance for each other. They don’t want it, they deny it because it goes against what they believe….but deep down, that’s what they truly desire. To have friends, family, to share love and joy with whom they are fond of.
For the Hive God we know the least about, this dungeon has probably done the best job of introducing the important elements of her chatacter out of any like it. Hell, Duality was all about delving into Calus's mind and understanding him and I still have no idea what the point of it narratively was. Its cool
i’m not 100% sure since it’s been a year since it came out, but i believe the point of duality was to explore calus’ mind in order to figure out what he planned to do once he fused his mind with the lunar pyramid
@@everythingincorporated4597 i figured that and maybe i missed something but the final boss being Caitail seems to imply she's his biggest fear or greatest mistake and idk, i thought that much was at the very least implied by the rest of the season.
@Chance I see Caital as moreso Calus' greatest regret. He truly regrets that he's made her hate him so much, he truly did wish she would stay by his side. Remember, most nightmares are created through regrets commonly. For example, back in Season of the Haunted, we found out that Ikora's nightmare was Cayde. Not only did Crow fear becoming like Uldren again, but he regretted what Uldren did, he regretted how much he's still like Uldren. Going back to Calus, he's regretful of what he did to Caital. Killing her Warbeast out of jealousy for the beast, pushing her so hard, causing so much animosity that she was one of the main players in the coup. Yes, he is scared of his daughter. She has so much unbridled rage towards her father, and now? She has so much power on her side. She has an Iron Lord amongst her ranks. Ultimately, he's a father who regrets what he has done to his daughter to make her hate him so much, because he thought he was doing the right thing.
From what I’ve read, the grand scheme of Duality was to delve into his mind to find some sort of weakness in Calus, some sort of Achilles heel. Killing his nightmare of Caiatl as the boss inadvertently removed the emotional connection that Calus had for Caiatl going into Lightfall. This was supposedly proven in “The Downfall” mission where Caiatl busts us out and Calus had no emotional affinity for her, making him a greater threat to both the guardian and Caiatl. I have no other way to prove that, so feel free to take that with a whole shaker of salt.
Root of Nightmares wasn't made to show that she is his greatest fear or his greatest regret. We understood that by his words throughout the season. No, Root of Nightmares was meant to show why she is his greatest fear and regret. It was meant to show many of the things he had done to create such hatred to him.
Some people seem to think she'll rebel against the witness, but I'm hoping for Xivu going further into the darkness and madness it'd be a great dark mirror to Savathûn who's doubt caused her to seek light. Instead, Xivu doubles down and, in the process, becomes more insane than she clearly is now, and a truly insane villain is just so unique as we only have ego maniacs as main villains it seems.
That actually sounds pretty cool. And if they bring Savathun back, she and Xivu could have this big confrontation, two sister's lead down different paths but from the same motivation. You could even show a conflicted Xivu, desperate to have her family back, but also hating Savathun for her betrayal.
Plot twist: These events won't go down until Destiny 3 (We fight Xivu on The Final Shape, we assume she dies, but instead she lets herself get overtaken by Darkness)
I don't personally think she's going to double-down, I do think she'll turn on the Witness. However, instead of her becoming an ally, I agree that she's going to lose her mind. I think that she's going to eventually go on a complete warpath, destroying everything in her path because she can't trust anything anymore. Even the "truth" her brother died for was all a lie, and the Siblings all fell for it.
Part of me buys into this simply because I’m not sure where we would actually defeat Xivu. She’s gotta be a raid boss you would think, I guess it could be a dungeon, but assuming raid it won’t be next season because it’s a reprised, and it won’t be final shape (most likely) because you would think that would be the Witness. I guess fighting Xivu could be what happens post final shape but I feel like we’d have to fight her before the witness.
I love how xivu said the exact same thing as Savathun in the lore book before she turned to the light. They both said "What is this feeling? I do not want it.." gives me chills thinking about what could come next for both their stories
Wasn’t that in the lore tab of Hawkmoon? Did we know Savathun was the one saying that? Hear Xivu saying it made me think we were looking at her POV all along
@@Blu_Moon_Owl it was savathun while being osiris and it was a dawning lorebook (maybe idk irrc hawkmoon loretab is about crow being some sort of speaker) all i know is that crow and guardian were at spider's den drinking and having fun osiris was also nearby that season and it was one of the first times we thought of osiris being sus as the person looking was most likely him along with his seemingly knowledge of the ascendant realm that season
As an aside, I like how they kept Xivu's subtitles in all-caps like she is in the lore entries. She's got so much presence her very voice can barely be contained by the letters on our screen. It's a nice touch.
I know you complimented Kimberly Brooks on the previous video, but I want to echo it again strongly here. She is so fantastic, and I fervently hope she knows how much we appreciate her work!
I will say that Xivu's voice is not what I was expecting. And I really didn't like it at first. I felt like the multi-layered whispering background voices made more sense for Savathun, being the god of deception and trickery. For Xivu, the god of WAR, I expected something more powerful and booming. Like everything would sound as if she were in a massive echoing cavern. It's started to grow on me with these more nuanced memories, though. And I think the voice actress absolutely knocked it out of the park with what they gave her. It's the design/direction choice itself that I'm not overly fond of.
I find it fascinating - and tragic - what they've done with Xivu. She reminds me of real-life trauma victims who fall into radical beliefs as a way of coping - acting like the new head priest for her dead brother's philosophy, even cutting off Savathûn - her closest family - once she questioned their beliefs, all to become more and more fanatical for the Final Shape...
She may be an all killing war god who has decimated entire worlds but killing her brother and not taking his thrown was the ultimate spit in the face for everything she stood upon. Her beliefs being questioned and her own self sacrifice meant nothing. She’s having the hive equivalent of a existential crisis can’t help to feel some sort of empathy.

"What is this feeling? I do not want it." The same exact feeling Savathun remembers when she's hanging out with us and Crow in the Hawkmoon lore tab, celebrating, drinking and happy. Seems like the sisters aren't as opposed as they really seem.
For the one named the god of War, this lore really foretold the story more so of someone who is broken, lost, and alone. It reminds me a lot of Darth Vader in that sense. I really love this being our true insight rather than just the war cry enemy we have known about for years now.
But much like Vader, that love and loss and pain can twist a person (or Hive god) in an evil more monstrous than any conniving, sinister villain. Her pain, left alone, will surely consume us all like an unstoppable inferno.
I love what they did with Xivu, its kinda endeering and ironic that the one to embody war of the siblings is the one who actually cared the most about their family. Its refreshing to see that she's not an unga bunga kill kill character
Oryx loved his family but she adored them until her sister betrayed her. Remember how the statue of nocris refused to be broken in the entrance to the throne room on the dreadnought? The way a throne world works is the mind of the owner oryx may of wanted to destroy it but deep down he didn't so it didn't break. At least that's how I think it worked
12:53 The amount of detail and character in her voice right here is just incredible. Especially the way she says "nothing".. Big clappers to the voice actress
Xivu's voice actor is incredible. Really sells just how fanatical, distressed, and enraged she is. Hearing about her past, talking about telling stories in the 'garden' makes me wish there was a "happy ending" like, alternate universe. Where instead of slaughtering entire species, the siblings walk around Fundament together and eat muffins or something. I imagine Oryx as like, the optimistic one with wide eyes, chasing animals and inviting their sisters out to spend the day by the water. Savathun 'reluctantly' agrees, pretends to be annoyed with Oryx's constant thrill for adventure, and tries to make the trip interesting with magic tricks and silly pranks, like sticking out her leg when Oryx runs circles around her. Xivu is the big sister who stays a step behind, and she would thump Savathun on her forehead, scold her for being mean, and just smile and nod to whatever Oryx suggests, because she thinks it's endearing and not annoying. I can see it all so clearly! Ah well. Maybe another life. Unfortunate that we'll probably have to fight her soon.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she somewhat already knows after the events of the witch queen. But when she does truly find out I hope she doesn’t do a 180 and help us fight the witness. Let’s keep talk no jutsu away from the finale of this saga
Its honestly really nice getting to see the genuine emotions felt by at least one of the Orsmium siblings. Oryx's own words are few and far between, Sav is Sav, Xivu feels very much like an individual.
The voice direction and her performance in the "BLASPHEMY. BLASPHEMY!" memory are so effing good, like when I first heard it sent chills down my spine. You can taste the fear, the RAGE. It's so good, they're doing a great work at introducing Xivu Arath as a character and not just a looming threat.
I hope savathun comes back just so i can hear her and xivu voice actors DO SOME ART cause god Xivu's is conveying so much emotion and Savathun's always felt like every syllable was calculated and weighed to keep the secrets she has. they both embody what the characters embody and it's insanely impressive
Not gonna lie, I wasn't sure how I felt about the choice of voice for Xivu Arath. It slowly started to grow on me throughout the first week. But this Dungeon... Holy Hellmouth, Kimberly Brooks. It changed me. So. So. Good.
The character exploration is fascinating here, in just a few audio logs, we learn of Xivu's love for her brother, her motivatuons, her insecurities, here relationship to Savathûn, and her tactical brilliance. Savathûn was a great villain, but she was never particually sympathetic because she was too busy being so delightfully evil. Savathûn is interesting because she really was the cause of all the issues the siblings faced, she lead them into the deep, she killed Aurix, she tried to imprison Oryx in the deep, she announced her desire to part from Oryx. She used a gift from him to steal his power from where it rightfully belonged after his death, she defied the sword logic, she embraced the light and she tried to forcefully ressurect Oryx in the ultimate act of heracy. When Xivu learns of what the luscent tried to do here, her fury will be boundless, Savathûn is Xivu's nemasis and when Savathûn eventually returns, one of them will have to die because Savathûn represents everything Xivu hates. In these entries, Xivu truly becomes the protagonist in a way that Calus never was, Savathûn was and is the ultimate villain of the hive gods and that's as true for Xivu as for us, I kinda want to see Xivu kill Savathûn just to get closure, or to finally reconcile with her (though that's less likely since Savathûn is pretty damn evil, depends on whether she got all of her memories back in the Witch Queen.)
It also helps paint a picture of how the three sisters were before they descended into the Deep then rose from it. If Xivu's faith has been shaken to its very foundations laid personally by Oryx, then one cannot help but imagine how it will turn out should Xivu and Savathun meet in current day. However do bear in mind, when the Hive gods killed each other it was how they expressed love to one another. The big shocker would be that one of them turns and walks away, refusing to kill. That would be the for sure sign that the love is lost and there is only conflict.
I've noticed that in Xivu Arath's Fifth memory, her logic that she uses to justify defying the Sword Logic in resurrecting Oryx... is the exact same logic the Hidden Swarm used to justify trying to resurrect Oryx in Shadowkeep's Endure entry. To embody his Will and commit blasphemy, hoping that Oryx's will shall return to smite them, but if he does not then what they are doing is not heresy and that they have surpassed Oryx's will. === I wish I could see that stream you did with Broman. Would have love to have seen you reactions, not just to the ocean, but also to Echtar and Oryx.
I thought I was just imagining that connection because I couldn't find the particular entry in any of the lore books in-game, entirely forgot it was from a weblore entry. Good to know I wasn't conjuring up that particular plot point from all the way back then.
"What is this feeling? I do not want it." Savathun says this in the Hawkmoom lore tab when watching The Guardian (us) and Crow celebrating, having friendship and camaraderie. Seeing us like that reminds her of her sisters and thua states this. Xivu Arath says this upon reflecting on the time of being with her sisters. They've turned so far away from being "human" that anything that reminds them of being that way repulses them. But I can't help but feel that the repulsion is a mask and, as Byf briefly touched upon here, they may have regrets of turning to the Darkness.
All I can say is fantastic job done by xivus voice actor, she really makes you feel the rage, the pain, the sadness. My hat off to the actress, the incredible writers and the sound team at bungie to make it all perfect
The line of "What is this feeling" also directly echoes Savathûn as Osiris in the Hawkmoon quest, seeing the Guardian and Crow, a former enemy as Uldren, coming together as allies.
Fantastic video Byf. The Hive are my favorite race in Destiny. The Lore is so rich. I very much appreciate you doing these lore videos and putting us in the minds of these characters.
As usual an amazing break down on the lore, Xivu is such an interesting character with a very commanding voice, when she speaks you listen. Extremely excited to see where this rabbit hole leads
That last fragment of her feeling something and she saying that she did not want it or understand it is really similar to season of the hunt lore tabs where Savathun speaks very familiar lines when she watched Crow and our Guardian celebrated.
I loved all of these audio logs it shows xivu’s love for her siblings especially oryx… but it’s so sad that they did all of this for a lie… that reaction to oryx being killed was just heartbreaking to hear it goes from complete agony and pain to unbridled rage that we left his kingship bare… maannn just great in game lore
"What is this feeling? I do not want it" from Xivu here parallels Savathun's own thoughts from her time as Osiris, thinking and feeling soft things she hasn't felt in so long that she doesn't even have the words for them, and does not want them. I really, really hope we get more on this.
That voice actress deserves an award. I never wanted to assume in my mind what Xivu sounded like but know that I have heard her; that voice and it's pain is in my head. Like Savathun and her song.
For the first time I was brought nearly to tears by d2's story, and the input from you with your voice helped to make that happen. Both thank you and also shame on you Byf for making me feel for a (so far) bad guy in my "hehe shooty" video game.
Learning that THE Kimberly Brooks, the voice behind Jasper from SU (easily my favourite in terms of voice), is now screaming at us as the Hive god of war? *Chef's kiss* PERFECT!
I hope that when she finds out, instead of joining or doubling down on a side she goes AWOL until the next saga where she can act as a big bad but much more crazy considering from the sounds of it she's spiraling into madness also amazing work from Kimberly Brooks she did an outstanding job portraying all the emotions running through Xivu's heart
I have to say I love how Kimberly Brooks delivers a voice for Xivu, Bungie did good putting a voice to her. I can't help but think that Bungie will make Xivu Arath a dungeon boss in a future season and that she is out ultimate enemy of Lightfall. I would want Xivu to be a raid boss so maybe it'll be Final Shape that has us dealing with both Xivu and The Witness but how Bungie shaped up Calus's return only to have us defeat him so easily in Lightfalls Campaign. I don't know if Bungie is going to make a quick write off of Xivu. Hopefully not though.
I love the little nod to the lroe tab of the hawkmoon(?) where Someone seems to watch crow and us getting drunk, asking what that feeling is they feel. Xivu seems to have been watching us for a long time now
This dungeon really paints the picture for Xivu's character and I like how she isn't just some war mongering God, she acts human and expresses her emotions thoroughly. What I find interesting in her family dynamic is that Oryx is seen as the big brother and is praised highly, but fell and followed the sword logic to the end. Then Savanthun, who follows her own agenda and path-which in turn lead her to becoming a guardian and rebelling against the witness, making her an outcast. Then there's Xivu, she's the last of her siblings and has heard/watched her bloodline, her family be slaughtered one by one and this has left her with rage and unhinged. You could view Xivu as the sibling that was left behind and forced to follow the path laid out before her because she has no where left to go, no purpose left other than the role she was groomed for eons by the witness. I feel for Xivu's pain and love the direction Bungie has taken with her character, but as much as people may see her rebelling, I think the truth is she'll stick to the sword logic and scum to the darkness, to rage more and more-because she has no one left to go to that could help her and perhaps Savanthun's returning could shape that-but only the story ahead will tell.
I still can't get this out of this my head but I post it here. What if Oryx does come back ether way? If Xixv her Achiles heel is her family. Then it could be her famliy that can help us. Imagine Savathun is back. But Xixv won't listen to her. But we know she values and trusts her brother Oryx and with little options left he comes back. With a Ghost and us to explain what has happened. God that would be epic.
That last line on the last calcified fragment, "What is this feeling? I do not want it." seems like a callback to Hawkmoon's lore tab to me... The contexts and emotions are very different, but what then, could be the resemblance here? Longing?
For Savathun I think it was a mix of Longing and Regret, Longing for the family she once had and Regret for the path and logic that had pulled them apart. For Xivu-Arath I think she's carried on with the Sword Logic as both a way of holding on to the memory of her brother as well as a sort of 'I'll finish what you started' type motivation. With the end of that path in sight she's realized she is alone, she's made it to the end of her Brother's path but he is not there to see it.
12:06 Kimberly Brooks as some serious Sam Witwer energy in these dialogues and I love it. Xivu’s reaction to Oryx’s death made me think about Darth Maul’s own insanity in the Clone Wars when his brother Savage Opress found him on that junk planet!
The "feeling" line callback is also an incredible mirror to Savathun's feeling that she wanted to reject. Both feelings, while different, may mirror what they've rejected with their nature's they've adapted to for so long. Savathun felt longing for companionship, companionship that can never be achieved living a life of deceit. Xivu might be in a place where her feeling of loss is the sacrifice she makes by taking her nature of war. Both saw the parts that they did not like about their way of life. Both of them may reject these feelings, however much these differ from each other.
I absolutely LOVE the actress playing Xivu. The emotion, the turmoil you can feel every single thing cutting through her words like a knife. Honestly? I loved Oryx's stoicism. Savathûn's playfulness. But Xivu Arath's deep expressiveness and emotion has captivated me unlike anything we have seen in the game.
"First true insight", I feel like her title of God of War, her battle with Mara in the ascendant plane and her torchering one of Hive Lightnearers were insightful enough.
I really love Bungie's wrtiting. I was listening to 16:17 "Screams like a choir as their mountains trembled. Screams like a choir as their seas boiled." They could've written about any facet of nature that can be atributed to planetary destruction. But they chose mountains and seas. Why? Because that is what IS Cabal. "They Eat the Mountains, Drink the Seas" She's basically reveling in destroying what they hold most dear in a sense. Also a cool play on words in the next line "Theory in (practice) Praxis"
“What is this feeling? I do not want it” - Xivu Arath here, and Savathun in the Hawkmoon lore tab, when they are both reminiscing about their younger years as Krill
“WHAT IS THIS FEELING? I DO NOT WANT IT.” “What is this feeling? I do not understand it. I do not want it.” The second quote is pulled straight from Hawkmoon’s lore tab. I think the feeling she has could be described as kinship. Maybe care. Maybe even love?
Honestly Xivu was the character i was most excited for but ultimately the biggest let down story wise. Originally not knowing much lore i saw this: •Oryx the Taken King and embodiment of darkness. •Savathun the Witch Queen and the new zealotry of light. the fate of the brother and sister were intertwined with the events of sol, but Xivu carved her own path by leaving and waging her own war. In a sense it felt like she was rejecting the fates everyone saw and instead choosing her own. My hope was she'd come back too sol as: •Xivu the Goddess of blasphemy and ruler of hive. A true neutral force that would transcend the hive and tip the scales in the war. Instead what we got was Xivu the inheritor. Her journey of self discovery did nothing, her personality is that of a tantrum child, her image is that of a lap dog for the witness, and ALL of her power shown is that which was handed doen too her. She's nothing but a brat defined by inheritance.
what’s interesting is xivu’s description of the sky/light is down, because savathun was “crawling in it” and her truth/darkness was described as having wings
If this is leading where I think it’s leading, I cannot wait to see these three siblings interact with each other again after everything that’s been going on. Because we have the possession of both Savathún and Oryx. If Xivu Arath becomes too big of a problem, we may have to enlist Savathún to help out, or if we’re really desperate, bring in Oryx. That will definitely fuck up Xivu in her mind to see both her siblings turn to the light, especially her navigator.
I hope we get to see more of her in action. Like for Oryx we had the Taken King, and for Savathun we had the Witchqueen (along with some build up in prior seasons). I would hope that Xivu would be more show then tell since she is the Hive God of War.
i agree honestly, though i think the execution is brilliant; the emotion and power it conveys is great, but the direction feels just a little... jarring to my ears? I guess I expect ancient gods to be a touch more considered, somewhat distant even in the way they express emotion and thought. she sounds young, like, disney villain-young, and I struggle to link her attitude with the history and legacy she carries. American accents have always taken me out of media though to some degree, so I know it's just cultural bias on my end too though 😪
What a fascinating dive into the lore of Xivu Arath....previously I figured that she would be the most loyal, dedicated, and fanatical of all of the Witness' remaining servants. That a resurrected and reasonably cooperative Savathûn would have to throw the entire Lucent Brood at Xivu's forces to take them off the board, so to speak, in our final push against the Witness at the end of Final Shape. Now? I'm not so sure. There is now some context to her motivations and an opportunity for more than just Hive-on-Lucent-Hive slaughter to aid in a final push against the Witness. Rather than simply tying up the Hive or even convincing them to go away, maybe, just maybe, Xivu Arath will turn on the Witness as Eramis has been turning? I see a window, however small it may be, to having some kind of truce between Alliance forces and the Hive. (I still think that Destiny 3, whenever it eventually comes out, would naturally have playable alien races...some of that groundwork is already being laid, with Caiatl asking Osiris to help teach Cabal forces about the Darkness, and it would only take some story finagling to have some Lucent Hive - perhaps under Fynch's direction - stick around and help out with future events.) Either way, there is now a lot of added depth to Xivu Arath's character that make her that much more compelling and interesting as a villain. Bungie may be mistakenly slow-playing us on the Veil, but I'd say they're hitting other parts of the story like this one out of the park. As an aside, does anyone else get really amused at how UA-cam's auto-subtitling function 1) struggles to pick up Byf's accent, and 2) inconsistently misspells Xivu's name?
Xivu’s final comment of “What is this? I do not want it” is a direct quote of Savathun in the Hawkmoon lore tab

You know if being a Hive God doesn't work out for Xivu, she would make a fantastic writer.

@@moonlitmortician6694 oh wow! I would LOVE THAT!!
Which lorebook is it?
I wonder if there are more similarities to the dungeon memories from them
Wasn’t that in the lore tab of Hawkmoon? Did we know Savathun was the one saying that? Hear Xivu saying it made me think we were looking at her POV all along

As an aside, I like how they kept Xivu's subtitles in all-caps like she is in the lore entries. She's got so much presence her very voice can barely be contained by the letters on our screen. It's a nice touch.
After listening to the fragments I felt… pity for Xivu. She lost all of her family, her brother, her sister…
Eh. Who cares. I just want another gun
Yeah and she's slaughtered entire worlds and species I have no pity for her
Two types of Destiny players. 😂
Eeeh revive Savathun and let them fight lol

Xivu Arath definitely was the youngest of the two. She's got "dedicated younger sibling" energy.
Just wanna say the voices for the triad of siblings is freaking beautiful
I know you complimented Kimberly Brooks on the previous video, but I want to echo it again strongly here. She is so fantastic, and I fervently hope she knows how much we appreciate her work!
they did perfect casting for the 3 hive gods
I will say that Xivu's voice is not what I was expecting. And I really didn't like it at first. I felt like the multi-layered whispering background voices made more sense for Savathun, being the god of deception and trickery. For Xivu, the god of WAR, I expected something more powerful and booming. Like everything would sound as if she were in a massive echoing cavern. It's started to grow on me with these more nuanced memories, though. And I think the voice actress absolutely knocked it out of the park with what they gave her. It's the design/direction choice itself that I'm not overly fond of.
So true. Kimberly brooks is pretty much a legend of the voice acting industry. So many fantastic roles
She’s having the hive equivalent of a existential crisis can’t help to feel some sort of empathy.

its ironic how the most mysterious sibling is the least sublte one in terms of her nature. and her affection for Oryx is touching
well yeah we barely knew oryx outside of him being furious at us for killing crota, and savathun is goddess of lies so she will never show her real self
She isn't mysterious, we just hadn't had much lore on her. Mystery would be if we had a lot of lore, but still had no clue what she's like.
@@Kazuhira2249Oryx wasn't angry that we killed his son, he was angry that we didn't replace him
Hive doctrine dictates if you kill something, they were weak and not worthy to have lived, you take from those you kill
We didn't replace Crota in his throne world, we didn't kill other Lightbearers like he did, we killed him and left to return to earth
Oryx seeing what we did, attacked us because his sword logic wasn't followed, so the best way to keep it intact was to kill the killers of his son, that means he'd avenge his son (even though sword logic says Crota shouldn't have lived for being weak) and maintain sword logic
Oryx in that scenario, would've Taken the throne world of Crota
This is why Xivu and Toland are pissed at us, as we never took the dreadnaught, we should've became the new Taken Kings
(If you look up "Visions of Light", even the Traveler tells us we never replaced Oryx)
The way Xivu delves into zealous fury would make even a 40k Inquisitor blush
"What is this feeling? I do not want it."
The same exact feeling Savathun remembers when she's hanging out with us and Crow in the Hawkmoon lore tab, celebrating, drinking and happy. Seems like the sisters aren't as opposed as they really seem.
Xivu's got the perfect VA. I hope the community is showing her the love she deserves. So so good!!
Its refreshing to see that she's not an unga bunga kill kill character
oog oog me throw hammer-missed :
To the hive War is love. Could mean that in the warped Hiveways, Xivu could be seen as an Godess of Love and Homesteading
This is actually how she was portrayed all the way back in the taken King
Oryx loved his family but she adored them until her sister betrayed her. Remember how the statue of nocris refused to be broken in the entrance to the throne room on the dreadnought? The way a throne world works is the mind of the owner oryx may of wanted to destroy it but deep down he didn't so it didn't break. At least that's how I think it worked

The amount of detail and character in her voice right here is just incredible.
I’m gonna cry 😭
This was amazing
That Voice acting is top noch I swear.
I wonder how Xivu will react, when or if she learns that her whole species was tricked and used by the Witness not the Deep.

I hope savathun comes back just so i can hear her and xivu voice actors
DO SOME ART cause god Xivu's is conveying so much emotion and Savathun's always felt like every syllable was calculated and weighed to keep the secrets she has. they both embody what the characters embody and it's insanely impressive
I love how all her subtitle text is in capitals.
This season/ dungeon makes me really hopeful for a potential reunion between the three hive gods. They are all such interesting characters.

I wish I could see that stream you did with Broman.
It isn't xivu trying to resurrect oryx

Savathun says this in the Hawkmoom lore tab when watching The Guardian (us) and Crow celebrating, having friendship and camaraderie.
Can we just talk about how amazing Xivu's voice actress is? I got chills listening to these voice lines.
So Xivu Arath is feeling something and asking, “Is this loss?”
Watched the collection of these last night, and immediately needed a byf video on this. So glad you were able to get this up so quickly
This.
Good lord, the VA for Xivu is absolutely incredible.
Those parting words about Xivu's Achilles heel. Byf just gave me chills with how he declared his willingness to exploit it.
I don’t have one.
“That her Achilles Heel, is family. ” ooof powerful way to end the video. Nice job!
I just love the voice they gave her, it can sound terrifying but also, human. If that makes any sense
God damn that is some of the best voice acting I have ever heard. A freaking plus
That last fragment of her feeling something and she saying that she did not want it or understand it is really similar to season of the hunt lore tabs where Savathun speaks very familiar lines when she watched Crow and our Guardian celebrated.
I cant help but love the voice actress for xivu. Truly a shockingly perfect performance
Good lord can i just take a moment that with the dialogue with the BLASPHEMY was utterly amazing my god great job to that va im genuinely amazed
Man, I love the voice actress of Xivu. Great use of distortion in her voice when she gets angry and upset. She'd be great as a metal vocalist.
Learning that THE Kimberly Brooks, the voice behind Jasper from SU (easily my favourite in terms of voice), is now screaming at us as the Hive god of war? *Chef's kiss* PERFECT!
"What is this feeling, I do not want it" is a direct callback to the hawkmoon lore tab
I hope that when she finds out, instead of joining or doubling down on a side she goes AWOL until the next saga where she can act as a big bad but much more crazy considering from the sounds of it she's spiraling into madness
also amazing work from Kimberly Brooks she did an outstanding job portraying all the emotions running through Xivu's heart
It'll be interesting to see her outlive the Witness. Her insanity an interesting foil to the Witness's calculated plans.
By the Traveler
Xivu’s VA? Absolutely magnificent. Sends shivers down my spine and makes me feel bad listening to her story.
20:42 that perfectly timed "Guardian Down" after Xivu's exaltations
I love the little nod to the lroe tab of the hawkmoon(?) where Someone seems to watch crow and us getting drunk, asking what that feeling is they feel. Xivu seems to have been watching us for a long time now
With the last Xivu's line I instantly remember Hawkmoon's lore
Savathun also sid those words
The entire series of voice lines at 12:05 is IMO the BEST voice acting we ever had in this game
Uncle: I won’t get political this Thanksgiving
Uncle minutes later: THE SKYYYYY-
This dungeon really paints the picture for Xivu's character and I like how she isn't just some war mongering God, she acts human and expresses her emotions thoroughly.
12:06
Kimberly Brooks as some serious Sam Witwer energy in these dialogues and I love it. Xivu’s reaction to Oryx’s death made me think about Darth Maul’s own insanity in the Clone Wars when his brother Savage Opress found him on that junk planet!
Can I just say Byf saying her Achilles heel is her family was absolutely epic 🎉🎉
18:02 OMG I seeing the Ecclesiarchy happen before my eyes. I love it!!!
I love the voice acting for xivu. She sounds she's having a panic attack everytime something she believes is proven to be faulty
"EVEN NOW, ALONE YOU ARE MY NAVIGATOR"
"Guardian down!"
"What is this feeling? I do not want it!" Funny having two sisters utter the same words years apart.
"First true insight", I feel like her title of God of War, her battle with Mara in the ascendant plane and her torchering one of Hive Lightnearers were insightful enough.
Kinda random but hearing the “guardian down” after one of the xivu audio bytes was hilarious for me
The last entry "I do not want it" is the exact same phrase used by her sister in the Hawkmoon lore tab
Bro the voice acting in Xivu's voice is the best in the entire franchise
Looking back on it, I never realized just how many parallels there are between the Hive and the Necrons.
I really love Bungie's wrtiting. I was listening to 16:17
"Screams like a choir as their mountains trembled. Screams like a choir as their seas boiled."
They could've written about any facet of nature that can be atributed to planetary destruction. But they chose mountains and seas. Why?
Because that is what IS Cabal. "They Eat the Mountains, Drink the Seas"
She's basically reveling in destroying what they hold most dear in a sense.
Also a cool play on words in the next line "Theory in (practice) Praxis"
"What is this feeling. I do not want it." We've heard that before.
“What is this feeling? I do not want it” - Xivu Arath here, and Savathun in the Hawkmoon lore tab, when they are both reminiscing about their younger years as Krill
“WHAT IS THIS FEELING? I DO NOT WANT IT.”
“What is this feeling? I do not understand it. I do not want it.”
The second quote is pulled straight from Hawkmoon’s lore tab. I think the feeling she has could be described as kinship. Maybe care. Maybe even love?
Honestly Xivu was the character i was most excited for but ultimately the biggest let down story wise.
Originally not knowing much lore i saw this:
•Oryx the Taken King and embodiment of darkness.
•Savathun the Witch Queen and the new zealotry of light.
the fate of the brother and sister were intertwined with the events of sol, but Xivu carved her own path by leaving and waging her own war. In a sense it felt like she was rejecting the fates everyone saw and instead choosing her own. My hope was she'd come back too sol as:
•Xivu the Goddess of blasphemy and ruler of hive.
Kimberly Brooks is so talented, she has so much range its insane
what’s interesting is xivu’s description of the sky/light is down, because savathun was “crawling in it” and her truth/darkness was described as having wings
You know, Xivu having a brother complex was not what I expected from this season but hey, I’m here for it lol
God I love Xivu’s voice actor, she’s so good at making Xivu sound coocoo without trying too hard
I really like her character, a hive god having a mental breakdown. The voice actress the writer they both went crazy with this one.
Man all of this setup is really makinge want a strand/taken subclass that we get for finally taking the throne
15:31 Xivu Arath taking "Old Man Yells At Cloud" to an entirely new level
Byf you’re the goat with this video, fam this was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
12:10 this part is I think the best acting and monologue destiny has seen since Savathuns monologue
0:25 "A litlle more in Depth..." Goddamit Byf!
Every time I here about how Torobatl fell, the more and more I want an expansion focused on going there with Caityl and taking it back from the Hive
I hope we get to see more of her in action. Like for Oryx we had the Taken King, and for Savathun we had the Witchqueen (along with some build up in prior seasons). I would hope that Xivu would be more show then tell since she is the Hive God of War.
Everybody's been talking about how much they like the voice actress who does evil wrath's voice, but I think it sounds a little silly honestly.
i agree honestly, though i think the execution is brilliant; the emotion and power it conveys is great, but the direction feels just a little... jarring to my ears?
(I still think that Destiny 3, whenever it eventually comes out, would naturally have playable alien races...some of that groundwork is already being laid, with Caiatl asking Osiris to help teach Cabal forces about the Darkness, and it would only take some story finagling to have some Lucent Hive - perhaps under Fynch's direction - stick around and help out with future events.)
Either way, there is now a lot of added depth to Xivu Arath's character that make her that much more compelling and interesting as a villain.
