Genesis has quietly assembled a portfolio of luxury cars - and now its first SUV - to take on all marques. This all new 2021 Genesis GV80 is finished beautifully and drives as well as anything in the segment. What do you think?
I test drove the 3.5L twin turbo base model (not luxury/ Prestige model). Let me simply say, unless you sit in the driver’s seat and hit the 0-100 you can’t believe how good this car is. There is just so much to say from safety, tech and luxury. Just get behind the wheel!
i would rather drive a Genesis than a bmw, mercedes benz, audi, lexus, range rover and more because those car brands are oversaturated. too many people drive bmws, mercedes benz, range rover, and more. its almost like people buy those luxury cars just to fit into society. I would rather buy a genesis because it is a unique lexury car brand which also comes with reliability and beautiful design. I thank you for reading my comment. God Bless.
so...ya, like it except for the massive front grill. now, let's compare it to my fav, the aviator. not sure about comparisons in your mind and the MPGs of both, but they are both RWD and probably similar in price, yes???? brina...i keepgetting the chills when I think of the earlier koprean cars I owned. they always came apart and displayed their skin thin quality. all the beauty was topical and gone to hell in 35, 40 thousand miles. i became aware of the "bling" eye-catching lure and how topical this all really was. true quality cost and the long term of the pretend is gone very soon.
and unlike most reviewers, i pick the ford explorer over the korean twins. after seeing them all on the roads here around Austin for some time, the explorer is wearing better on the eyes. the pinched face of the palisades seems to grind on me and the telluride just seems, well...bulky looking. the explorer seems to keep getting better with its sleeker front grill, especially in the ST model.
I don’t hesitate to recommend these to anyone. Very high quality and great materials. Excellent dynamics. Class leading warranty and customer service. Looking forward to a longer test soon.

Beautiful vehicle and great review. I also thinks it looks great in that green. Exterior is very well done. Interior in the beige one looked great other than the steering wheel, that two spoke wheel just looks goofy. The black interior one looked like vinyl, I pass. I still take a BMW straight six X5 in this segment and know I have the best there is. Also BMW and Lexus and Mercedes have great dealers. I know Brian you don’t like dealers, but you haven’t dealt with Hyundai dealers where these have to be serviced (even if they may pick the vehicle up for the few years of new ownership). And Lexus dealer coffee and donuts can’t be beat 😈 This a great first try but no cigar. X5 or Lexus RX for me.
The wireless CarPlay is a must for me; I hope you are right that ordered vehicles will have this or they won’t get mine until. Great review on a winner for sure; and I am coming out of Porsche Macan GTS!
Thanks for subscribing! I recently wrote about exactly that in my Hagerty column: www.hagerty.com/media/opinion/the-elsinore-files/who-is-brian-makse-and-why-is-he-here/
I made the effort to watch the video again. - There is also a diesel engine available (maybe not in Canada?) - "The third row is power folding in the upper trims" - The third row is not offered in the upper trim*s*, only in one, the highest - the prestige AWD (which is strange, because in us the offer these only on the Advanced-Trim). - All models basicly get the full sweep of advance driver assistant systems - You imply that all fairings have all available safety precautions on board. That's not true if you look at the specifications page on the Genesis site in Canada. Keyword Parking Collision Avoidance - You did not mention the 3D-mode of the gage-cluster (or maybe i just overheared that) I watched the video on PC (Headphone-Output, TV-Sound-Output) & Smartphone.

Beautifull suv, but is too fare to compete with the German cars
Himalayan Grey with Dune interior.

Liking what Genesis is doing. So looking forward to seeing them in the UK.

I hope you enjoyed the review.
14:34 "...not airsprings, believe it or not, I am shocked...." haha, great line, that doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for your reviews.
I’m here to entertain!
That steering wheel is strait out of a Buick other than that beautiful vehicle.
Looking forward to test driving this and the GV70!
Do it!
great review
Thanks!
Which do you think is better the Hyundai Palisade or this GV80?
Unusual question. For me, GV80. No question.
Great review, what is the name of interior color for the one you drive.. man, it looks fantastic...
Thanks! Which one? IIRC, one was black, the other was like an ivory, but I don't recall the names Genesis uses.

I heard the GV80 doesn't have a light in the glove box. Is that true?
It is.
No dealer network for an plus 70K car here in Fl expensive car for a low end brand
They do have a dealer network and the best part is that you never have to visit one.

Clearly, I wasn’t persuasive enough, Paul. This is outstanding. Plus, you don’t ever have to waste your time going to a Genesis dealer. Ever!
Agree...this SUV is INSANELY BEAUTIFUL. It's the best looking SUV on the road imo..by a wide margin
I can’t wait for my GV80 3.5T Prestige to be delivered at my front door in the next 2 weeks!
Cool. Which colour did you get?
Himalayan Grey with Dune interior.
Is this for people who would never ever buy an "expensive" car and are just content on driving 80K Hyundai ?
Nah, fam.

If yours doesn’t land with it, it’s just a firmware update. The hardware is ready. Glad you enjoyed.
I own a 2016 Geneses GV80 and I love it.
You mean g80 right?
Well the G80 model didn’t debut under the Genesis nameplate until a 2017 model year.
In 2016 it was still known as a Hyundai Genesis. Haha.

Chrome wheels, big piece of chrome chicken wire attached to the grill! This SUV looks like something from of the 80's.
It's very premium in person. Check one out some time.
Many inaccurate information here. Also the music is - in parts - a bit to loud while you speak.
What’s inaccurate? Also, what are you listening on?
Name 1 inaccuracy..

Nice review but the music at times was too much (loud)
Thanks. What are you listening on?
