It was really beautiful music, but I only made it about 14 minutes in, and there were already two really intense, fast-paced commercials that were so disruptive to the calm that I stopped listening after that. Is this supposed to be happening?

You have many listeners saying the same thing: STOP EMBEDDING COMMERCIALS IN THE MUSIC! There’s nothing worse than having a loud, obnoxious advertisement interrupt a vibe. Many people are saying the same thing but Calm Whale don’t care!
