Thanks for closing the loop on the whole snow removal process. A very organized and efficient system. Maybe the blade sound is chucks of ice. You da man.
Used to wake up at night just to see and HEAR those trucks and machines, but now i dont even turn around to look, not cause im old,but cause there all the same trucks, same loaders and blowers,no sound,no smoke and no “personnality”. Bref,c’est pu interessant comme les anciennes machines! And not much oldies left...
Sounds like ice, it sticks to the augers or fan. If you watch the railroad steam rotary it makes sort of the same noise. but one advantage it has it can use steam to melt ice and defrost joints for the wings! ua-cam.com/video/Jo-mA5KCsyI/v-deo.html 9:45. Diesel rotary with a steam boiler. 24:04
About the sound "grinding" What you're hearing is the impact of snow against the chute and deflector. How do I know? I hear that very frequently from the 3pt hitch blower I run at the farm. The rhythmic pulse of intensity is caused by the ribbon auger feeding the impeller/fan. As the auger turns it pushes snow into the impeller to be discharged.
Hey check out detroit diesel enthusiast group out on Facebook Elton they just had a video posted up on there of one of the old 2-stroke snow blowers up in your area, and keep up the great work on the snow removal videos this year
