Excellent video, I flew on a A340-600 from Lufthansa to San Francisco and it was really good. Great service, friendly flight attendants. I returned on the A380 which was really cool!
i love the 340 - i went on it first time in 2007 from paris to dubai - via air france, and its a cool plane, love the wing flaps, similar to the 747-400 - - yes, airplanes are totally awesome - i feel there are two groups of people: "either you arent excited by any type of plane and dont give a damn" or you "love them, and film/video tape, take off, landings, and all else inbetween' - and i am proud to say, that the 'ladder' is my group!
I'm in Myrtle Beach, SC. I'll be taking this flight sometime this fall and then onto Prague for two weeks with a few day trips to Germany. Retired Military, (Usn-Uscg) travelled to quite a few countries. Been to Ireland three times (dual U.S./Irish citizenship.)
Ah, flight 429 out of D12. I fuel that ship quite a few times a week...she is a thirsty girl. I always wanted to see what her interior looked like and her destination. Thanks for the share! Cheers!
Wonderful video, SDMullis! Your seat choice was excellent; I typically try to get that seat when I fly to Germany via Lufthansa. I like the perspective of watching the back of the wing against the sky and ground. Personally, I think Lufthansa is a fantastic airline, and much better than when I had to fly United to Frankfurt. Though I have never flown highly reputable airlines like Dubai or Singapore Airlines, I think Lufthansa totally rocks!! Thanks.
@Pandacapricorn The plane was actually totally full. The shots that show empty seats were filmed before everyone had boarded. I do not remember seeing any empty seats when I got up and walked around during the flight.
Strangely I've seen that flight from the ground. Within 20 minutes of taking off, that air route goes just East of PIttsboro,NC and then you can see the Shearon-Hariis Nuke plant out the RH side of the plane.
this is crazy. i was spotting the day you few to munich.i was going to video tape the plane landing but it was on the cargo side. i stayed until it tookoff. i actually went over to cargo side to see the plane. i want to fly on that plane oneday. amazing good for to get on the the longest plane the world. i go to clt weekly to see it lant and takeoff. hope u had a amazing trip..that plane is always filled in the summer
nice landing, a340-600 is the most beautiful aircraft built yet, nice video I can't wait to fly it. I flew 777 and I felt very uncomfortable even 737-900 is better.
in all airbus aircraft one of those housings in (one per wing) also contains de fuel dump discharger,it is easy to see, the end of the discharger is black.
@mkbitchin26 Wow you were close. I had 39A. I chose the seat very carefully so I could get some good video without the wing in the way and without being too far in the back. Have fun in Greece. I would love to go there. Enjoy the A340-600 and let me know about the experience.
Lol, sounds like you struck up a pretty intellectual conversation about fossil fuels and future energy sources with the gentleman next to you ;) awesome video as per usual!
@andoriuperaisu I travel for work some but mostly these are leisure trips and I must admit I spend a lot of discretionary income in the process. It is something I enjoy so I just do it. I feel very fortunate.
@mkbitchin26 Lucky you. I just returned from a trip to Greece by way of KLM and Delta. Lufthansa's service is far better then either of them. Enjoy Greece though, its a cool place
My DREAM is to be able to do what you're doing. How are you able to fly to so many different places despite the high costs of flying? I NEED TO KNOW!!!
How is FRA? Im doing this route exept im IAH-FRA-JNB. Like hows the airport layout and immigration in terms of process like will i get through immigration fast? Im wonering because Houstons immigration is slow as hell.
As a career ramp guy, I was not comfortable with that cone out there by the #1 engine when they taxied into CLT. No way in hell would I have allowed that if I'd been running that flight. After engine shutdown, yes, but not in front of a running engine.
well once on september 25 2011 i went from detroit to frankfort on a340-600 its was sort of smooth but each minute the plane had turbulence and i could not sleep and the engines where alwayes making noyses i felt the engine moving so go on a340-300 or a320 or difrent liufthansam aircrafts and here is edvice dont travel on a330 it is not a safe plane they say it is in airshow but it is not so dont go on it
All of the good Airlines are in Europe and Asia..Leg room much better, food service is great ,flight crews very nice...Try Singapore or Lufthansa and then go on Delta you will know what I am talking about...U.S airlines treat people like cattle...
i assume you travelled with people you knew... cause, if 'not', then im sure you had an entire plane load 'look at u' as if u were some 'nutcase' 'film a map' and or 'filming take off and all else'...... plus, i assume hearing that ';fossil fuel' conversation in background rt b4 take off, i assume was you, of which would have to be 'staring at the window with camera viewer' as yr back is turned to the person you are talking with.... now THAT would be odd!

That is a beautiful airplane, and the smoothest landing I've ever seen!
Classic shots when the airbus is pulling up and you see the US airways in the background taking off! Love sight seeing ... love to fly too!

I was at Carowinds and saw this depart when I was on Drop Zone!
Glad you had a good time, welcome back to Queen City!

Until I saw the speed brake I didn't trealize this air craft hand landed. Excellent crew and video.
Nice video! A340-600 is such a beauty 😍

smooth take off and smooth landing

Charlotte is a major US Airways hub, and both airlines are on Star Alliance, so one channels passengers to the other's flights there.
it is the housing of the flaps mechanism(is like a screw linked to a electric motor)and that makes the flaps go up and down.
great video, Im looking forward to A380 footage! :)
Nice video, smooth landing.

First comment! I really enjoy your videos, keep posting!
Why did the plane initially bank left when the route was right I wonder? Anyway, thanks for sharing, brilliant video : )
Lol, sounds like you struck up a pretty intellectual conversation about fossil fuels and future energy sources with the gentleman next to you ;) awesome video as per usual!
Nice video, dude. Thanks fr share!
Amazing!
so smooth ;)
this is a beautiful plane. I noticed the seating is half empty. am i right? how was your flight??
Im taking this at 6:30 July 5th to got to Munich then Athens then Karpathos.
@andoriuperaisu I travel for work some but mostly these are leisure trips and I must admit I spend a lot of discretionary income in the process. It is something I enjoy so I just do it. I feel very fortunate.
Kind of a wierd route to go from the USA to Africa via Germany :-)
My dream is to fly the A340-300 and -600 and to fly the A380 aswell ;) Could be so awesome to try it! But we dont got the money atm :)
interesting I guess....I just thought there were flights straight to Frankfort instead Munich first.
@SDMullis Do you think the A340-600 was a very good and stable aircraft? Any dangerous turbulence during flight? Was it smooth??
Thanks
I had read the US government had forbidden GPS displays on passenger screens in American airspace. Did they give up, or was this before the ban?
@mkbitchin26 Lucky you. I just returned from a trip to Greece by way of KLM and Delta. Lufthansa's service is far better then either of them. Enjoy Greece though, its a cool place
What is that thing in the middle column of seats at 3:28 ?
My DREAM is to be able to do what you're doing. How are you able to fly to so many different places despite the high costs of flying? I NEED TO KNOW!!!
my favorite plane
@SDMullis were there any free seats on the board?
Did you flew the full distance at one time?
Who is the Captain for this Airbus A340-600 Lufthansa flight?
Do u remember what seat that was
How is FRA? Im doing this route exept im IAH-FRA-JNB. Like hows the airport layout and immigration in terms of process like will i get through immigration fast? Im wonering because Houstons immigration is slow as hell.
Hey do you remember what seat you were in?
00:19 whoo are u sure u own that A340-600
How come the crew start to return to Germany right after they`ve landed in US !?!!
I thought you had to turn electronics off

That cone is sooooo close!
yes, Bill that cone should have not been there it could have been sucked right through that engine. Wow!
